lore is a constant WIP and an overall disorderly mess

i. Ravenous City 🗲

The capital rises stark and gleaming out of the yellow wasteland dust like a mountain rises out of the sea, mighty and alone. Massive walls and mechanized guard towers protect it from the hungry, empty land, with its beasts and its storms, and in their shadow ragged slums spill onto the sands. But within the walls is an oasis, a city of marvels, bustling markets and gleaming white temples and vast, imposing buildings, shielded from the cutting winds and choking sands by thick glass domes and windows. Banners of rust and crimson flutter across pathways and hang from buildings, adorned with the crimson thunderbolt of the Red Gale, the new ruling party, named such after the savage dust storms that sweep through the Wasteland and kick up waves of dull, rust colored dust. Indoors, posters promote the Party and its master and public face Reynard. LONG LIVE OUR LIBERATORS, they read, LONG LIVE THE KING-EATER REYNARD.

ii. The Garden ♛

Once there was a king. He’s gone now. What remains of him and his kingdom lays in the shade-drowned remains of what was once a glorious temple of the Light. Strange pale flowers bloom in the cracks of the broken city of horrors, and so they call it the Garden, cast out of the light and submerged in entropy. It would have been glorious, the seat of an empire, gilded and holy. Not now. Now everything about it is corrupt and decadent and deeply ẘ̒͛ͦrͬͮ͆o͂ͬ͂̃͑ͣ̽̾ͩń͌g͆ͦͤ ͑ͥ́ͣ̒. The shade taint that felled Sunder clings to the place, and bends and pollutes everything it touches. Aberrations walk freely, and streets and buildings shift and turn in on themselves in impossible, entangling forms. It warps and also, somehow, protects - the horror of the place is the only thing shielding it from certain annihilation. And so what remains of Sunder’s court lives on, patient and plotting, twisted beyond recognition, eager to sink its teeth into the throats of those that brought it to its knees.

iii. The Wastes 👁

The Wasteland is empty and vast. Strange beasts lurk here, walk in and out of the shifting sands, their jaws dripping with pestilence, their eyes burning bright and hollow. Traversing the wastes is like crossing a sea. Stopping in one place for too long is fatal; death waits always. Here and there are outposts of civilization, tiny islands in the dust. Traders, missionaries, and the deeply devout travel back and forth through the emptiness. Outpost markets deal in the most dangerous of goods and contraband, beastclan and dragon captives and remains, rare toxins and antidotes, cursed relics, and the services of mercenaries and assassins. Outland temples stand quiet and alone in the dust, their ascetic priests holier than all but the Exalted. There are stories of derelict cities built upon rot and want, whose parades and banquets are equally delicious beyond description and heretically depraved. There are other stories too, of apocalypse cults armed with pestilence and holy words, their religion more violent and fanatic than even that of the most virulent priests and warlords.
