Fox Mulberry - Moved to the Starfall Isles after the loss of his sister. An elite agent of the ABI (Arcane Bureau of Investigation), during the alien invasion he decided to shift the focus of his work to extraterrestrials and related phenomenon.

Dana Coally - An ABI scientist. The bureau administration was stressed out from dealing with Fox, so they sent Dana to aid him in his investigations and provide reports. She prefers to use science and logic to uncover the truth and isn't partial to Fox's wild speculations.

Danneel - The ridgeback who loved collecting things. After being offered a job as a collector of strange and magical artifacts, she decided to leave her fire clan home to serve under the Arcanist. Her experience from the Ashfall Waste aids her in determining the make, origin, and veracity of the artifacts.

The Arcanist's Stargazing Brigade - Founded by hatchlings who joined the Arcanist's service during the Starfall Celebration and continuing to serve all hatchlings until they grow old enough to serve in other areas. Hatchlings in the brigade assist with planning and organizing stargazing events that all members of the Isles can enjoy.

Cosmo - Cosmo was a pretty cool dragon, with his Black Fedora, Black Neck Wrap, Black Arm Wraps, Black Chest Wrap, Black Leg Wraps, and Bleak Birdskull Wingpiece, and he enjoyed living his cool peaceful life. But when his flight heard the news about Arcanati's kidnapping, he decided he had to go and help get him back. Despite his conviction it still took him a while to get used to his new life, and he held on to his apparel during his training despite his new home. He finally learned to let go, and under the Arcanist is a proud defender of the inhabitants of the Starfall Isles.

Dale Copper - A proud Runesworn graduate and member of the ABI, though in a different division than Mulberry. Although his methods were unusual, he was admired for his results and assigned to the case of the Black Cave, a mysterious location believed to pose a threat to surrounding clans.

Annie Blackburn - A dragon who experienced tragedy at a young age, Annie left home to live in seclusion as one of the Arcanist's devoted Acolytes. After many years she decided to reconnect with the world and came into contact with Copper. Soon after she disappeared into the Black Cave, and no one knows what became of her.

Winberry Earle - Former senior ABI agent and Copper's old partner, whom Winberry holds an unexplained grudge towards. Defected from the force in order to figure out the secrets of the Black Cave for themselves; also disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Bravos - Because someone's got to remember him.

Adventure Line - A lieutenant in the Arcanist's Army who enjoys humming his own theme song. Follow him if you want to find the story. "Stanley, this fern will be very important later in the story. Make sure you study it closely and remember it carefully. You won't want to miss anything."

Holly - Holly gathered several followers from her performances across the Starfall Isles, where she would transform ice crystals into dazzling light displays. She eventually decided to leave her fans behind and join the service of the Arcanist and the Stargazing Brigade.

Spine of the World - A massive creature that lives at the heart of the Astrolodome's infrastructure. In slumber it keeps the city running; if awoken, the havoc it could cause would bring the dome crashing down.

Red - A former up-and-coming singer in the Astrolodome, she lost her voice during an attack by a group of political insurgents but gained a connection to the Spine in the process. When Red managed to tame the Spine after the insurgents awoke it, the local ABI recruited her to watch after the Spine and ensure it was not woken again.
