Aegis' Clan

The clan found its name and origins when Vulcan left to search for something to guard, which was the nesting grounds and his mate Lirril a young mirror dragon female. When the two of them began their clan they had hoped to remain out of any major conflict between other clans, they had many children most of which did not survive the first war they fought. This war was fought between the Crimson Scales and several other clans that had formed a coalition with them and one rather large clan that was greedy for more territory, this clan had a leader who like debauchery and other such things, she assumed that the war would be over quickly for her clan was large and had many young strong healthy dragons in it while the coalition had fewer and weaker dragons their main advantage was the Crimson Scales who had grown rather strong dragons for Vulcan is a guardian and so he taught his children to fight like a guardian would. When the two sides first fought the result was bloody but for the coalition it went better than they thought it could have thanks to Vulcan and the clan, after this battle both sides would fight for two years with casualties on both sides the larger amount of corpses being from the larger clan. Angered by the fact that such smaller clans were defeating her finest dragons the matriarch of the large clan sent ten dragons to attack the Crimson Scale nesting grounds and break the eggs and kill those who protected them, this was done with fervor for these were young males who wished to mate with their matriarch when they arrived they kill several of Vulcans children who were watching the dragonets and eggs even Lirril was wounded while others like Tsunami, Lucifer, and Aurora were killed fighting, after this tragedy Vulcan set out alone to exact his terrible revenge upon the eggbreakers. For three days he slaughtered every group of dragons who attacked him when he arrived at the enemy den he killed those who stood between him and the matriarch, the two of them battled and while the matriarch was a leviathan compared to Vulcan at the time she was proud and her pride resulted in her fall. Vulcan had decided that to kill her he would drown her in lava and smash all of her eggs which were many when he could not drown her he wrenched her jaws open and breathed a massive gout of flame down her throat burning her from the inside out. This battle was not won without a wound on Vulcan however when he returned home not only had he killed another dragon five times as large as him he had caused the clan to break apart and ruin itself, Vulcan received the wounds on his legs and eye when he fought the matriarch. After the war and Vulcans recovery Lirril said she would never again fight a war for she had no desire to see more eggs broken and no more dragonets slaughtered.

Later the clan would grow to have several alliances with what remained of the coalition and with other clans across the world, soon the name Crimson Scale became famous for Vulcan continued to fight clan wars and earn money to support his clan, and he freed enslaved dragons by allowing them to walk free after surviving one fight, he even gained a powerful second in command, the shadow dragon Temeraire. who would later challenge Vulcan for dominance in the clan. Eventually several dragons with black scales would become a personal guard or escort for Vulcan in honor of him and because of their scales they would be known as Ebon Scales and they are some of the Crimson Scales most famous fighters.

Now the clan accepts any and all who wish to join, as long as they show loyalty and a sense of kinship with the clan, be you trader, exile, former slave, wizard, vagabond, or mercenary, you are welcome to come and join it or simply share the den and meals with them and all they ask in return is that you remember to stop by again.

Soon though a dragon will try and lead a rebellion against Vulcan, and this will result in a large war that will devastate the clans territory, for there are some clans who under the guise of friendship have been plotting with this dragon to kill Vulcan and use the clan to become the strongest clan in the region... and then the world.
