- Wild Orchard clan lore -
The Wild Orchard clan is named for the growth of fruit bearing trees and other plants in the heart of the clan's territory. Long ago, two dragons attempted dangerous experiments to convert the local magic into other elements. Their experiments failed, but they caused the Nature aligned energy in the area to became volatile and supercharged, weeping through the surface like sap oozing from the broken edges of a wounded tree. As a result the plants here grow their fruits faster and more abundantly than normal, and are often laced with odd supernatural effects. The clan members influence the 'orchard' as little as possible, mostly trusting the Labyrinth's wisdom in what should survive and how. Occasionally a vine needs to be given a trellis to climb, or a diseased bush burned before it can contaminate the others, but besides that they let growth find its own way. Unfortunately, all the barely stable Nature energy surging through one place is also a beacon for trouble. Any nearby supernatural creature with an appetite for magic will likely sense it and come poking around. As if that wasn't enough, the half-rotted study journals left by those same two dragons decades ago hint that before their deaths they stumbled across- and stirred back up- a darkness some corrupted Talonok had once awoken and attempted to strike a deal with. Their carelessness brought out something unseen that now watches and waits on the edges of the clan's territory. It whispers to those who are vulnerable to it, making wild animals violent, urging necromancers and undead beings to gravitate toward the orchard without even knowing that it's there, and on rare occasions even drawing in something that's been contaminated with one of the few remaining vapors of the Shade. Fortunately the nearby Beastclans are rarely a problem. The local Centaur and Talonok populations want nothing to do with such a dangerous and seemingly cursed stretch of territory, so there's little conflict between the Wild Orchard dragons and their Beast neighbors. It would be easy to agree with them; to decide some magic fruit isn't worth living with all these ever changing threats hanging over their heads from sunrise to sunset to sunrise again. But the clan's members fought hard and shed their own blood to secure this place. To abandon it- to leave all it's strength unclaimed, with fruits that could heal the sick or feed the hungry rotting off the vine- seems like it would be a supreme waste and perhaps even an insult to the Gladekeeper herself. |

How dare you tempt me with those pretty babies, this is how I'll eventually end up with no lair space
No. No I will never be stopped.
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I'm really proud of Meliadoul, but I have to decide if it's worth it to get the gems and such to add more genes to her or not. I'm kind of happy with her right now but that could change xD
