Welcome to the layer, friend!
Hua Mingyu (花明雨) runs the place, she's in charge of keeping track of everyone and everything. Be careful not to trip.
Don't mind the critters running around, either. Most of them are perfectly friendly. Most...

Brown Pelican
Brown Pelican
Meat
This tasty treat is a mouthful!
Dappled Clucker
Dappled Clucker
Meat
Unlike most of the animal kingdom, the females of this species of fowl fight over the males. And it is BRUTAL.
Deepdiver Penguin
Deepdiver Penguin
Meat
Though they are capable of surviving the icy temperatures and crushing pressure of the deep, these penguins typically don't survive the predators found down below.
Demoiselle Crane
Demoiselle Crane
Meat
A crane in distress.
Emperor Penguin
Emperor Penguin
Meat
Flocks of emperor penguins will huddle together for warmth against frigid temperatures. Tundra dragons frequently attempt to huddle with them, to mixed results.
False-Peacock Quail
False-Peacock Quail
Meat
There isn't much to be said: this quail is just lookin' sooooo good.
Flecked Bushrunner
Flecked Bushrunner
Meat
In one of the most humorous displays in the animal kingdom, males of this quail species race one another to attract mates, rather than fight.
Hooded Hen
Hooded Hen
Meat
This here's a nice, I say, a nice specimen. Though, it's got more nerve than a bum tooth.
Mallard
Mallard
Meat
After catching this fowl you realized it was actually rabbit season...
Mute Swan
Mute Swan
Meat
These swans prefer to live in nice, quiet lakes. They will passive-aggressively preserve their sleepy little domains.
Oasis Songbird
Oasis Songbird
Meat
The song of the Oasis Songbird has saved many a thirsty dragon from death by leading them to water.
Red-Crested Tweeter
Red-Crested Tweeter
Meat
A surprisingly talented bird with the ability to repeat brief sentences of speech, as long as they are sarcastic or politically-charged.
Redtail Crane
Redtail Crane
Meat
Mimicking the plumage of Redtail Gryphons ensures that river predators will steer clear of this trickster.
Silver-Laced Rooster
Silver-Laced Rooster
Meat
There was once a play about a rooster who attempted to woo a dragon; it was a tragedy.
Spot-billed Pelican
Spot-billed Pelican

Meat
Eat this before it eats you.
Tolbunt Rooster
Tolbunt Rooster
Meat
Roosters crow frequently to communicate with their flock.
Trumpeter Swan
Trumpeter Swan
Meat
These swans trumpet from dawn till dusk and have very little consideration for the neighbors. They often find their nesting materials in disarray.
Valley Quail
Valley Quail
Meat
Valley Quails are misnamed. They actually live at the crests of hills and mountains.
Whisper Emu
Whisper Emu
Meat
If *only* emus whispered.
Yellow Canary
Yellow Canary
Meat
Canaries make great dragon snacks, but are more often kept as natural alarms. Their call is loud enough to act as a warning about plague gasses nearby.

Oh, and in regards to my favorites, I don't mean to dump a text wall here.

My top 10 birds list changes pretty much monthly and this would be ten thousand words if I went through it all. I will say I have always had a soft spot for the American Avocet, however. They're fascinating to watch and really odd for sandpipers, and I appreciate that about them. They have a bunch of weird and cool behaviors, too. Avocets are able to mimic the Doppler effect to disorient approaching predators, they do the classic "broken wing" display to defend their nests, and they frequently parasitize other avocets' nests

As for insects. Dubia roaches made me very fond of the lesser known friends in the order Blattodea, cockroaches and termites alike. I wouldn't want to see either doing damage to my house, but I actively search for native members of both sub-groups when I get a chance to look through leaf litter and rotten logs in the forest. They can be shockingly beautiful and fascinating!

Ohh! All very good animals to appreciate! Northern Flickers are such neat woodpeckers, and I find that a lot of people see or hear them all the time without knowing what they are, let alone how neat they are, like with their weird diets or wing color gradient across North America! That is a very neat "spark" bird! Condors are also so freaking cool, they're a relic of a time when much larger animals inhabited the country and have one of the wildest conservation stories of pretty much any animal I know.

And Ten-lined June Beetles are a joy to see! I was very surprised the first time I heard it, but now I find it very charming. I rescued one from the science building a couple days ago actually! https://imgur.com/a/saIKEbn. I am very intrigued about your pin collection, also! Are they like preserved specimens or enamel/art pins?
