Tyro is Molly
She/Her
Adult. Disabled. Neurodivergent. Empathetic. Insomniac.
United States, EST (No nationalism here. Just logistically useful to know when a clan's speaker is likely to be available online versus sleeping, working, dancing, protesting, painting, making ramen, etc.)
OOC:
So. A bit about Molly and this new clan.
I joined for the first time last year, but I was overexcited and didn't read the TOS. (Big Mistake!)
I made two accounts because I had two different artistic visions for different clans. I wasn't trying to cheat the system, but I was trying to paint two canvases at the same time. (Not allowed on FR). I didn't realize I was breaking the rules until it was too late.
By then I was in love with both my clans and trying to figure out how to expand one enough to absorb the dragons from the other and close one down. I wasn't fast enough. Maybe they would have caught me anyway. I certainly wasn't being slick or covering my tracks. I just wanted to fix my mistake. I was too late.
The FR PTB closed both my accounts. I tried to appeal instead of starting over immediately, but I was denied. So now I'm starting over from page one again and being much more careful that I don't violate any rules.
Because it's mine, I walk the line.
I was heartbroken to lose access to all my dragons. I won't risk that happening again. I really learned my lesson the hard way, but at least the clans still exist. The lairs still exist. My dragons are still there. It's a sad sortof consolation that I can only visit them now but not work on what we were building together. It's a bit like having halls of ancestral portraits, only the castle was sold and now instead of being my domain, it's a museum where I have no special privileges. Still, they're all still there and together and beautiful and I'm comforted to know they're doing okay without me, even if I can't work with them to complete our big plans.
If you want to visit what I'll probably refer to as my Progenitrix Clans, you can search for them under the names
"TyromancerFauve" and
"EchoGamin". I'm certain the dragons there will be happy to see you and make you feel right at home. That was a shared philosophy both clans had.
IC:
TyromancerFauve's Nature Flight Clan was focused on Art, Creation, Community, Identity, and Legacy. A small collective of dragons there were named for Artists and planned to dress like their namesakes or their art in tribute. All the artists celebrated created extraordinary pioneering work. Most if not all of these artists were disabled (like Molly) and still created powerful and prolific bodies of work.
EchoGamin's Water Flight Clan was entirely devoted to the ideals of Hygge, Comfort, Coziness, The Changing Seasons, Family, and the Magic of Childhood and Children's Books. There are a lot of cuddly patchwork dragons there. Some are younger and more rambunctious than others. Others will evoke the relaxation of a bubble bath, the pleasure of a warm drink on a frosty day or the glorious beauty of a Summer night sky.
This new clan will strive to combine the visions and ethos of the two families that came before us. Above all, this clan, like its spiritual predecessors, adhere to the philosophy of
Xenia, or
Sacred Hospitality.
This place is a sanctuary and a place of peace. All visitors are welcome. Those seeking refuge and shelter will not be turned away. (As a result we will be forever looking to expand our accommodations!)
We do our utmost to ensure that our guests are safe, comfortable, and wanting for nothing. In exchange we expect graciousness, respect, and peace for every being within our home from all who accept our hospitality. This is a sacred bond between host and guest. It is a tenet that goes back to ancient times and we practice it faithfully today and everyday.
It is in that spirit of
Xenia that we bid you,
Welcome to Our Home.
A lot of my clan's lore is really about forming families and nurturing the next generation. Dynasties form, but they're all based around culture and helping each young dragon (or rescued older dragon) find their path and their purpose. There are a lot of teachers and hatchling care-givers. Not everything is well organized yet-- especially outside of some of the obvious family units, but the tab in my Hib Den labeled "Hygge" is all about coziness, family, stories, dreams, and child-rearing. It's basically a nursery full of caregivers and older children who are well older than 5 days hatched, but definitely still children at heart.
The last page of my first HD tab is also a nurturing area run by nurses, councilors, and mentors where young dragons and clan adoptees go for initial intake, care, and (if appropriate) new names and gene therapy.
I've developed a (somewhat expensive) habit of adopting fodder-intended dragons from the Auction House-- especially ones with cruel names (like "Fodder" "Forgotten" or "Banished") &/or unfortunate gene combinations. We take them in when we have room, and tend to their physical, material, and emotional needs until they're ready to join the larger clan and figure out what their heartsong might be singing. Adopting these refugees is rarely expensive, but their rearing and gene therapy can be. I also just don't have enough beds for everyone I want to take in, so I try to take in the most desperate and compelling cases first.
Sometimes clan adoptees find new adoptive homes and families right away. Other times, fosters stay in loving group homes under the auspices of the clan until they find their paths. Eventually they figure out their passions, take on apprenticeships or begin business partnerships or entrepreneurial occupations, Sooner or later most find partners and most start families of their own.
There are also a few breeding dragons outside of our clan who have hatched multiple children adopted by our clan. Whenever I discover that they have new offspring available for adoption, I try to bring siblings into the clan to live with the same families as their biological siblings and half-siblings.
It's... a whole thing.
I am destined to never have enough room, but we do the best we can to welcome and support as many dragons as we can.
A Note:
We are
also a sanctuary for a variety of "Varmints"
especially raccoons! We have almost 250 raccoons of different types living in out vault. We also home over 200 black squirrels (Go SLC!), an uncounted swarm of sugargliders, and an ever-growing legion of bunnies and rabbits. (Please do not stick cottontails in your ears. Despite the antiquated habits passed down among some larger species of dragons, this
is animal cruelty and, as the Dragon Health Commission of Xenia is quick to point out, a
very good way to get a truly unpleasant ear infection!)
Our dragons also try to keep as many wallabies as they can as pets and lawn control. *The wallaby herd
does get culled on occasion in lean times if it grows unwieldy, but the dragons are always sad about it.
Dragons in Xenia have also be known to keep opossums, rats, mice, skunks, and other furry critters as pets. Keeping monkeys as pets is discouraged, but not strictly outlawed, so of course the kitchens, granaries, and larders have to be very well guarded. The most clever and intolerant familiars are often tasked with guarding these areas once they've been fully trained and awakened.
If your lair becomes overrun with adorable "pests" that your dragons find too cute to eat (especially
raccoons!) please consider sending them to live happily in our vault which houses mostly books, shiny pebbles, art supplies, holiday currency, and a menagerie of mostly small and primarily nocturnal mammals. The menagerie has proven an excellent place to occupy non-sleeping snapper hatchlings and teach them about tenderness, discipline, responsibility, attention to detail, patience, hygiene, and (somewhat inevitably) first aid. Nothing teaches a young dragon patience, self-control, and empathy like being bitten by the sharp teeth of a baby monkey!
If your clan is primarily herbivorous, please consider donating your unwanted varmints to the Xenian Cuddly Varmintarium today. Our loving insomniac snappers are oath bound to give their charges the very best in nocturnally specialized care.
