Re: As for me, I am still meaning to get into the Tales series someday. Once had a brief stint with the GBA port of Phantasia — markedly a mistake — so I'll be starting with the SNES version of it whenever I resume.
It's a pretty lengthy trilogy even for JRPG standards. Its combat is similar to what you may see in games like Final Fantasy Tactics/Fire Emblem/Shining Force/etc. but with a JRPG pacing and scale. If you do try it, I hope you enjoy it!
Oh, yeah? Now I'm curious what TWEWY is tied with! For me, the closest games to tying would be either the first two games in the Trails in the Sky trilogy or, due to its sheer replayability and immense scope, Terraria.
