Deep in a mountain near the Wyrmwood lives a clan of mutated devotees to the Plaguebringer. Led by a group of acolytes who have devoted their lives to her, they lead expeditions into the Wyrmwood to become her experiments. If they can reach her. Only the strongest are worthy of making it through the Wyrmwood, through her tortuous experiments, and through the journey home.
Their clan has been infected by the Leechroot Mushroom, and some have tapped into the power that it gives them. Not many eggs survive because of the infection.
A group of those devotees are infected with mushroom strains picked specifically by the Plaguebringer. They are a group of elites called the Mycelium Network who work in tandem as individuals with one goal- to bring Her spores to all the lands.
Another group resides within the tunnels alongside the cult. In exchange for protection, the cult lets them use their tunnels for rum-running and production of their illegal goods. Lead by Calco, a group of pirates that call themselves the "The Blood Blights" terrorize The Sea of a Thousand Currents and beyond.

I appreciate your compliment on Marburgvirus, too! I'm planning on making dragons that represent some of the worst diseases humanity has had to deal with, and that little blue noodle was perfect to start with!! She'll be getting a few gene changes soon to fit the microscope scan better :D
