The Moonscale Clan

Millennia ago, the eleven flights were locked in a terrible war with each other. Forming any sort of companionship with dragons of other flights was strictly forbidden, as it could've led to internal destruction. Any dragon who did form a bond with another from a separate flight was severely punished.

But a pair of dragons would defy this. A veilspun named Chyrsalis had been injured in a battle, and was drowning in a river. Moonscale, a Nature Flight dragon of a forgotten breed, noticed them, and they retrieved them from the water and gave them medical attention. Chrysalis immediately flew away as soon as they were healthy, but that incident made them wonder: were dragons from other flights truly inherently enemies?

The next night, Chrysalis would return to the river where they nearly drowned, to find Moonscale on the side of the Tangled Wood, studying the insects and plants of the area. While Chrysalis was almost angry that Moonscale had crossed into their territory, they didn't want any harm to come to the dragon who saved their life, and apologized for their behavior. Moonscale accepted, and the two started chatting about biodiversity, an interest they both shared. And soon, they struck up a close friendship.

That wouldn't be the last time they met. While at first they just met at the border, Chrysalis figured out how to make illusions to make them both able to visit the Tangled Wood and the Viridian Labyrinth. Eventually, they ventured outside their respective domains, studying the ancient buildings of Sunbeam Ruins, swimming through the warm waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and wandering through all the other realms they would never have thought they'd see outside of combat.

But nothing lasts forever...
