For a long time I found it hard to pair apparel with UMAs, but one trick I ended up learning is that a lot of the time, less really is more. Focusing on just a few smaller pieces and trying to match apparel colors to the colors already in the UMA really goes a long way toward minimizing clutter. (Unless clutter is what you're after, of course!) I think that's why things like flowerfalls, auras, the smaller jewelry pieces and silks, etc. tend to be popular — they don't overwhelm the dragon when there's already a big showy UMA that's supposed to be the focus. Not to mention that larger actual clothing pieces tend to clip with UMA designs. >.>

Ooh yeah, I could really see Ice Faded eyes working! And yep, there are tons of beautiful skins that rarely go up on the AH. Especially if you're like me where most of the UMAs that appeal to you are older and the artists aren't active much if at all. x_x

An looks gorgeous! I don't think he's too busy at all — the limited colors (black and gold) keep his look cohesive even if his UMA has so many little details. (Side note: lucky you, getting that Imperial in a bottle adopt! I was eyeing that shop for a while but waffled a little too much on getting one, so now it seems to have gone inactive. D:)

That custom wasn't done for me, but I got it for 30KG off the AH! And hmm, I do think ado's UMAs can be a little hard to match at times from what I've seen of them... Maybe it's because they're not shaded?

Thanks for the compliment and like! I've had a few people bring up the Smokeswirl use and say they don't know how to work it, but I think it goes well with darker color schemes. :o

And aww, thank you so much again! I had my eye on that custom for a while, and managed to finish raising funds for it last NotN. It was my main project for that year's NotN grinding, actually. :D bioluminosity/mywitness is one of my favorite UMA artists and I especially like many of their customs, so I really wanted to have one! (I also have a limited 10-print UMA of theirs, on 85095784, but she gets enough attention on her own that I didn't feel a need to spotlight her. :P) I find Butterfly hard to work with for UMAs, so props to you for managing it!

I dabbled in both dressing and UMA finding from the start (friend who got me into FR is a big UMA collector) but only got into them super seriously in late 2021. FR's apparel searching is hard to work with sometimes, but it definitely gets better with experience! I do have several dragons technically missing a few pieces but they're small enough not to make much difference, so I consider them "done". There's a list in my bio though!

Nice, I'm glad I could help and I can't wait to see her when she's done! I think both Water and Ice eyes work well if you're matching the secondary to the "underbelly" of the UMA. Otherwise, if your secondary is different, I would think matching the eyes to that would work best. But I have seen some beautiful After Night wearers that match the eyes to the skin itself and not the genes, so I think anything can work!

Well, the retired UMA resale market in general tends to be "whatever someone is willing to pay for the skin". It took me over six months of active searching before I found someone willing to sell at all, and they both knew the rarity of the skin and were hesitant on selling. I imagine the person who paid 10KG was in a very similar situation as a buyer. I used to limit my UMA searching to the AH, but missed out on so many gorgeous skins that way! Now I just keep an eye on the forums to see if my favorite artists are up to anything, and to check on a select few UMAs I want.

Also thank you so much for the compliment! <3 I generally buy or breed for dragons to fit UMAs, rather than the other way around, so that makes it a little easier to be matchy. (Though often harder on my wallet when I have expensive tastes in genes.) I do put effort into dressing my UMA models dragons, though, so it's really nice to know that other people appreciate them too! And hey, don't feel bad about constantly using the same genes — you're talking to someone with the majority of her lair being Star/Con dragons and who has a habit of regeneing dragons in the same few specific ways. >.>

For sale info, I've actually been tracking After Night in Forum Search for a long while so I know what several copies have sold for (and where some of those copies have ended up). The 9KG sale was to me, and the 10KG sale was to someone else seeking it for a G1 of theirs. Forum Search results will return prices closer to what you paid, 3.5-4.5KG.

Like I said, very few copies are in circulation. It looks like you were exceptionally lucky to get a copy from someone returning to the game. Most other copies are either in inactive lairs or being worn by people's beloved permas, which is understandable given how gorgeous the skin is!

Fair enough; Basic is always valid! Yeah, a lot of terts are...kinda hard to work with UMAs. The ones I seem to resort to in most cases (where I have to regene the dragon myself) are Underbelly, Runes, and Capsule. Have you tried scrying your dragon with Smoke, BTW? I've seen a few people use it with After/Dreamy Night and it works surprisingly well, even for darker terts! Light eyes feel like the "obvious" option for the UMA...though now I realize none of the dragons I've seen with it actually have Light eyes. :P I have a few dragons I plan to give Faded/Dark eyes eventually, but they're a lower priority ATM.

Honestly even as an XYZ I think she looks great and suits the skin very nicely! (Though I have to ask, what will her tert be?) I knew right from the start that I wanted my dream dragon to have White Crystal and Midnight Constellation, though I went back and forth on the tert and eyes quite a bit. (My plan was Contour for the longest time, then I realized how pretty Runes would look instead. I also originally had Light eyes in mind, but decided I wanted something that didn't blend so much with the "eyeliner" of the UMA. I'm so happy I went with Water because it turned out that Faded — which wasn't out at the time I got her — matched perfectly!) You're so incredibly lucky to have gotten it from that sale; After Night is much rarer than it should be... Even though it's a 60-print, very few copies are still in circulation. I believe the last two sales before the copy you bought were 9KG and 10KG... I wish more Spiral F UMAs existed, but most aren't my aesthetic, oh well. D:

I actually saw the scry in your wishlist! I was trying to find the dragon it was for, but wasn't entirely sure (though now that you mention a 7D Coatl I think I know which one). As someone who has given multiple gem genes to several non-G1s, including my own After Night wearer, I don't think you should let that stop you at all — go for it! (Since this is a 7D dragon, they couldn't have hatched with Sarcophagus anyway... :P) Thank you for your compliments and the like; After Night is my all-time favorite UMA on FR so I was so incredibly happy to be able to finish her!

Your lair is absolutely beautiful! I noticed you're currently working on a project including After Night — congrats on getting that skin, and I'd love to see the dragon once they're finished so I can give them a like!
