The air is hot...

And the ashy ground is sharp like glass beneath your feet. Or maybe it is glass, except black like ink. Before you, hidden along a cliff wall, is the mouth of a cave. The entrance is large, and hanging on both sides are banners for the Fire Flight. A sign hangs from a blackened tree nearby.

If you have traveled across the Ashfall Wastes, suffering through the hot air and sharp sand, then you must be here for a reason. We welcome the lost, the lonely, and the outcast. But be warned, as strong as you are for traveling the Wastes, this is our home. If you came with ill intent, we will use all the force necessary to protect our clan.

As you look up, you can hear laughter and talk bouncing across the cave walls. You can hear the happiness and acceptance inside the cave, but something pulls in your heart. The feeling of power.
You hear a voice slither out from the cave, almost like it came from the darkness itself.

"Come, for I can give you the power you wish to have, if only you'll give me some time", it whispers.

You smell salt...

Sea salt, to be exact. It sits on the roof of your mouth along with the scent of old wood. Dragons laugh, fit, and flirt in the tavern you're currently in. You're looking for a ship and a job, but so far no luck.

When the door slams open.

In strolls a Wildclaw, his body covered in scars and a cutlass at his side. He jumps on a table and addresses the crowd.

"You dragons are in luck! The SS Typhoon is needing new crewmates, and I'm willing to hire anyone as long as they live and breathe!"

"My crew owns this dock, you don't recruit unless we give the order", a Tundra stands from the crowd, large and bristling with hostility. The Wildclaw pulls out his sword, and the fight is over before it began. Everyone scatters away as the Tundra falls. The Wildclaw speaks again, voice harsh and sharp.

"I will give you one more chance, you can join me, or be against me, this is your choice!"

Everyone is silent, unmoving, looking around to see who would join.
You can see the look in his eyes. He's confident, he's dangerous, and he's willing to do whatever he needs to for his crew and himself to survive.
You feel your voice escape your throat.

Blood is in the air...

You crawl across the ground, one wing dragging at an odd angle. It had been snapped like a twig by an Imperial in front of you. He looked down pitifully, fire licking across his claws with each step. It seemed to follow him. He looked over you and raised a paw. A mercy blow, and you were grateful.

"Azazel, stop" a deep, bone-rattling voice spoke up from the broken battlefield. The Imperial froze, and backed away.
Behind him was a small Skydancer, with strange markings across his scales. This dragon, the one ordered an attack on your clan. This dragon, who killed your whole clan. You quivered.

"W-Why did you do this?" you squeaked out, your broken body shaking. The Skydancer stood over you, his body glowing bright silver suddenly.

"You ran out of time" a voice that wasn't his hissed. It came from his mouth, but it didn't sound like him. He raised his claws, and your vision turned black.
