The sandbox thing is exactly it! You fall in love with the characters so much so, like you said, you don't have to worry about ending their stories and they can sorta just live out their lives as well haha! Oh, I completely get that! My girlfriend and I have this collaborative project that we've been working on for years that was supposed to be a story but has pretty much become its own little world! The three timelines thing sounds really cool though! Is Korbyn like a main character (for lack of a better term) in one of these timelines? Like is he the one that becomes a god? <.<
