Welcome to Sanctuary

The Southern Icefield is a cruel and inhospitable region, its inhabitants just as harsh and wary of outsiders. Traveling dragons know well to conduct their business in the Icewarden's domain quickly; those caught on the road—or deities forbid, off the road—during a snow are lucky to make it out of the Icefield alive.

Yet deep in the Snowsquall Tundra are a clan of dragons that defy the norm, that welcome weary travelers. Sanctuary sits just off the road at the edge of a mighty evergreen forest like a bulwark against the night, warm and built strong against the winds and ice. All are welcome here, be they Ice or Wind or Fire. The dragons who call Sanctuary home often range outward onto the Tundra looking for wayward dragons; those brought back within its walls are afforded a safe place to rest and a good meal before they resume their journey.

Sanctuary is part inn and pair lair, with extra beds for those lost souls brought in, a growing library for the students and mages, and a warm, cheerful kitchen large enough to feed everyone. Hatchlings are encouraged to pursue whatever interest strikes them, always with the knowledge that to stay in Sanctuary once they're grown means to take up the duty of helping the lost as well. Likewise those new to Sanctuary are welcome to stay for a night or two, until the snows pass, or for longer if they're willing to pitch in and become part of the clan.

Founded by Nifado of the Ice flight, whose rescue of his own mate Vasitas from the snow inspired the building of Sanctuary, the clan values charity, equality and hospitality above all else. Everyone in the clan pitches in so that none has to do more than his fair share. These are healers, traders and mages, each contributing something unique to the clan, and each taking a turn venturing outside to look for any poor souls lost in the snow.

As the founder of the clan and of Sanctuary, Nifado has been the clan's leader by unanimous vote since its inception, with Vasitas by his side. The two started to rescue traveling dragons when they made their home on the ice floes of the Southern Icefield; grateful to the pair of coatl and owing them their very lives, a few of the rescued dragons elected to stay on, to make a home here in this beautiful but cruel place and to contribute to the good work being done by the fledgling clan. When the clan and their mission grew too large for the ice floes, Nifado and Vasitas scouted a new lair on the Tundra, in a place that seemed both large enough for their needs and far enough away from civilization that traveling dragons would be at risk.

I don't know if they are super far off related, but they are at least 5 bloodlines removed from each other if they are (I assessed their bloodlines) :3!
