Terminology in LOTCOS:
Mater: Mother of a dragon
Princeps: Offspring of royalty
Eques: Dragon experienced in fighting
Regina: Leader female, usually sent from the stars
Humero: A dragons shoulder
Unguis: A dragons talon/claw
Pater: Father of a dragon
Oculus: A dragons eye
Filius: Male offspring of a dragon


Chapter one: An Unhatched Egg

Crepita read the heavy stone tablet her mater gave her. It looked somewhat like this:

Crepitaʻs chores

Fish, check to see if Nix needs anything, bring the dragonets food, scavenge for anything you can find and do some trading at Swippʻs stand.

“Iʻll start with the fishing.” she thought “Iʻm an expert.”

The cream coloured dragon flew over to the nearby pond and caught a few fish and a crab. Placing them in the food stores, she walked over to her brotherʻs nest.

“Hey lovey buggy.” Crepita teased “Mom told me to see if you need anything.”

Nixʻs head turned around quickly.

“Yes. I need two things.” he said “One is a good crunchy crab and a couple fish for Custosa and the other is for you to realize I am not in love. Custosa just wanted to have dragonets.”

Crepita went to the food stores and got the crab and fish. When she got back to Nix and Custosaʻs nest, Nix was practicing fighting moves in the air.

“Hereʻs your food.” Crepita nodded to the white dragon "Iʻd better move on to giving the dragonets food.”

She left the nesting grounds and moved onto the field where the dragonets were playing.

When the little ones saw Crepita, they bowed to the princeps.

“Rise, c’mon. Do any of you want crunchy moth legs?” Crepita asked the soon-to-be Eques’ “Does Ne want some? Persici? Argenti? Tenebris? Flavo? Rosea? Lutum? Dederunt?”

“Me! Me! Me!” they screamed “I want some! I want some! I want some!”

“Ok, ok. Settle down. Thereʻs enough for everyone”

“Yay!”

After giving the dragonets food Crepita moved on to scavenging. Pushing aside two ferns, she noticed an abandoned Nocturne egg, lying on a moss bed. Crepita forgot about her scavenging and grabbed the heavy egg, racing home as fast as she could.

“Mater mater mater!” she squealed "I found an egg!”

“Put it in Nix’s nest.” the Regina answered, not looking.

Crepita placed it in Nix’s nest and relaxed.


Chapter two: Shining Stripes

About a month or two later (One or two weeks human years), Ne and his nest-mates were listening to Fortis and Custosa explain the dos and don’ts when fighting. Ne was starting to fall asleep when Argenti tapped him on the humero with a hard unguis.

“Look at Custosa and pater’s stripes!” She whispered, pointing to the strong Eques’ stripes “Their glowing!”

Ne looked over to where his nest-mate was pointing and he saw what she was talking about. He waited until Fortis finished his demonstration of a good sneak attack and a bad one, when Ne said,

“Pater!” Ne squealed "Your stripes are glowing!”

“Good oculus, my filius."
