Illusory was born into an ancient and powerful clan, but resented the ingrained power structure and old traditions. Mire was born and raised among a wandering clan of mystics, eccentrics, and outcasts, and fit right in. It was she who gave Illusory the final push to leave behind his birth clan and start his own. When her clan began moving again, she stayed behind with Illusory.

They struggled at first, taking care of their first nest of eggs. Help arrived in the form of a fallen leader of a clan of Plague mirrors and the guardian who had made him her charge (Veil and Zaulen). The pair put their hunting and fighting skills to use in exchange for board. Veil insisted that the arrangement was temporary and that they’d leave eventually, but “eventually” never came.

The three eggs hatched into Efflorescence, Sage, and Vigil. The firstborn trio are the highest ranking members of the clan under their parents.

Other early members of the clan included:

Sanguine, an adopted mirror of unknown origins who Veil mentored and trained.

Grim, a mysterious guardian who claimed part of the ruin the clan inhabited as her charge. An occasional lover of Illusory, she has two sons and a granddaughter in the clan.

Sublime, a fickle and flirtatious Wind fae with a love of travelling who became infatuated with Illusory and stuck around.

Sinuous, a lovely Shadow spiral who manipulated her way into the clan by seducing Efflorescence and Sage, playing them against each other. She has children by both in the clan: Vinea and Aidos.

Sweet William the pearlcatcher and Alloy the ridgeback are two of the most influential dragons in the clan. The former was a fierce Plague warrior, the latter a compassionate Nature healer. Against all odds, the pair found one another and migrated to in the Sunbeam Ruins to find a place to be together. The prolific pair has three daughters and three grandsons in the clan. Sweet William has occasionally plotted to overthrow Illusory and Mire, or strike out to form a new clan, but with his daughters and mate so settled, it seems less and less worth attempting.
