silent sanctum. location.

The merciless, howling blizzards die down to a whisper when they meet the blood red leaves of the Anodyne Woods. This phenomenon is referred to as the 'Anodyne Effect' by the occultists who have taken up residence beyond the scarlet trees and luminescent foliage, untouched by the harsh, snowy conditions outside. Although peaceful, powerful and mysterious surges of magic course through the veins of the land and warp the surrounding environment and climate. Newcomers are almost instantly overwhelmed by it upon first crossing over the boundary. Researchers consumed with the desire to observe this phenomenon have settled along the wooded coast and established the Silent Sanctum, a haven for magical scholars and naturalists alike. While the head of the sanctum is hostile to anyone who needlessly interrupts his research and rarely exits his chambers, the rest of the sanctum's residents are more cordial toward visitors.

fayglow hollows. location.

The brighter the light burns, the heavier the shadow that is cast. It is within the shadows that the wretched, the twisted scorned by the light find respite, away from contemptuous eyes, and it is within one another's company that the troupe now known as the Fayglow Hollows found solace. Embracing their obscenities, they have turned what makes them beastly and profane into a point of curiosity, enticing crowds with the promise of bewitching performances that will haunt them for ages. Due to the monstrous nature of the troupe's performers and the scandalous whispers that follow, the Fayglow Hollows never stay in one place for long. Their ringmaster leads them from town to town, where they set up their encampment outside city limits and hand out fliers to passersby. They are dying to welcome those of the light to indulge their inner darkness and partake in their festivities, if only for a short while. However, guests are advised not to linger past midnight, lest their stay become permanent.

mournlight grove. location.

In the dying glow of the day, the twilight between life and death, lies the Mournlight Grove, a tranquil burial ground bathed in eternal eventide. If the shrine dedicated to its divine guardian at the center is the heart of the grove, then the wooded trails are the veins. It is along these trails where beloved souls are laid to rest, their legacies etched into stone tablets adorning the trees grown from their bones. In exchange for becoming one with the forest, the resident spirit watches over their graves and ensures that their sleep is undisturbed. However, as a minor deity, her power is finite. As such, she has blessed a small number of worshippers and tasked them with the care of her shrine and the surrounding graves. Now she dedicates herself to warding off would-be grave robbers and necromancers, assured that her followers are maintaining the grove in her place. The grove's keepers are traditionally recluses who wish to live in harmony with nature, but many offer services beyond burial to those who seek them.
