"The answer to the question of why a clan named Ashenhold would be located in an area notably free of fire filled skies and clouds comprising mostly of ash than vapor is a sad one, but one worth telling. I am unsure what will happen in the coming days. If something of us survives these dark days, I would have it be this. Let our story not go into that dark night.

The story is one of dark magic, and conspiracy, and death. The deaths of the leader's mate and four of his five children, to be exact. A cave-in of unknown causes collapsed the old lair in the Ashfall Waste. There were five casualties.

The survivors, pushed off the edge of the coast, fled across the sea to the Southern Icefields. We had expected our leader to stay behind. His charge, his mate, had died. We expected him to waste away. The general took charge and led the huddled masses across.

To the surprise of everyone, he followed. He had one daughter left. His charge truly wasn't dead, then? It could be salvaged? We heard nothing of his intentions for longest time. As I write this, we still haven't a clue what he plans. But a dragon we detect to have ties to necromancy has entered the clan. There are whispers of taking the clan from the leader like what should have happened long ago. We are being torn apart."
