Most of those who end up in these wintry plains do not remember how they arrived, or their life prior. They come bearing only a name and a face. Those who are pulled here are wiped of their memories, and have been hand-picked for a higher purpose. These recruited personally by the mistress herself, Xaviera, have an undying loyalty to her, even if they know not her face.
Others may seek shelter here at Frost Hollow, but for a price unnamed. The desperate blindly accept unspoken terms. Conditions for refuge, which are commonly unsavory, are established at the high court after acceptance in the presence of Xaviera, and her closely trusted magistrate.
