In the dense fog, you almost don't spot the door to the lair. It is tall, fashioned of a dark, thick wood, and above its column of eyeholes is a small carved sign reading "Soulrider." The door swings open to admit you.
Scrolls and newly bound folios lay scattered among the weather-beaten tomes stacked on tables, shelves, and in some more desperate cases, the floor. The furnishings mostly consist of the same dark wood as the front door, and you notice that many of them have familiar features. As you step forward onto a purple patterned rug, you lean closer to inspect one of the many bookshelves, which appears to have a convincing set of feet and claws. Upon further inspection, and after noticing the open manual, you conclude that one or more of the dragons in this lair has endeavored to carve the furniture into their familiar's likeness. There are many other rooms branching off to either side from this one, but you cannot see into them, as the doorways have been draped with elegant tapestries. One, to your right, catches your eye with its depiction of a vibrant blue-and-white seascape. You recognize it as an illustration from a serial fiction you read long ago in a periodical. You cannot recall much, but you seem to remember a young girl, a wagon train, a warlock, and a series of heart-wrenching plot twists.

It is clear that the residents of this lair prioritize their books, their art, and their familiars.
