Hello @13thmaiden! This is working as intended. You can re-use the currency next year, or if you don't want it in your Hoard at all, trade it with another player or sell it on the Auction House.

I see the holiday armbands are listed as unavailable, but the sigils are not. I was under the impression that both of those would be cycled back for the next festival, but the more elaborate apparel and the familiar would not. Is this not the case?
Fadeela wrote on 2014-05-19 07:28:09:
Question!!
As the Holiday Apparel is being retired, I want to confirm this means that we will get new flight-specific apparel each year, instead of the original holiday items?? :)

Just to kill two birds with one stone - this is clarified in our Encyclopedia entry for Elemental Holidays in this passage:
  • "All holiday merchandise offered will be retired and replaced each year, with the exception of the elemental emblems (runes that appear near your dragons' foreheads), which will be available every year, forever!"

Glad you guys are likin' the bows! :D

Uh... that was not the intent. Going to reword those tooltips, methinks! In North America it just means butt.

New Primary Gene: Ripple

Having seen both genes, (I'm working on Bar and Daub, I promise) if you want my honest opinion, I think bar and daub are harder to work with for a breeder. They're uh... "loud" and don't mix-and-match well with a lot. The ripple gene Fable made is a lot more subtle (on most colors) and that lends it to play-well with other genes. :)

Of course, if you want loud eye-burner dragons, bar and daub might not be so bad.

The more I see it...personally I'd call this new gene 'Crinkle' and release a reverse of it (light over dark) called 'Ripple'.

Actually, it is built to be light on dark. The colored bits are the areas where you see patches of light, and the lines are erased into. :) @Fable did a great job on this. :)

No gene is going to be for everyone, but I think that some of the subtle colors on this fill a nice gap for folks who are looking for a gentle texture. Of course, some belly colors like black and violet and lemon are like POW - so the ripple is pretty vibrant there. But overall I like this gene a lot because of how subtle it is on the majority of the colors.

Also loving the water, bark, magma, and plagued dragons that are finding elemental uses for this gene. It's pretty neat to see!
RIPPLE
May 16, 2014, 20:13:48
How contrasty ripple gets is based upon what the belly color WOULD have been. (though ripple is always a lighter value than what it rests on... so colors that have darker bellies naturally end up having some musical chairs with what color swatch gets used where.)

Ripple Gene
A new gene is stocking in the treasure marketplace. Ripple is a gene that will apply a subtle ripple pattern to the primary area of your dragon, the effect much like sunlight through water. Ripple's pattern is rather unique, in that it carries the pattern into the belly of your dragon; this feature is sure to make for some strikingly handsome dragons!

honestly i have to wonder why the coatl is getting its entry first when its the newest breed when imperials and wildclaws dont even have an entry.
Ilium wrote on 2014-05-14 18:39:43:
But I sure do wish that the old breeds that still lack information and have been around since the very beginning (imperials and wildclaws) could have their information put up too. :( I know these things take time, but we're nine months in and a signficant number of helpers have been added to the game's roster. Could someone at least say what the hold-up here is?
UNofFangirls wrote on 2014-05-14 20:22:45:
I'm sure people have mentioned this, but why is Coatl getting an encyclopedia entry when Imps, Skydancers and Windclaws don't have any yet?
Kodelaine wrote on 2014-05-14 20:43:33:
This is really great!
But uh
Wildclaw's where the very first breed to be in the Gem market (I think) and they're already gone.

They don't have an entry.
I think maybe next time have an entry as SOON as the breed comes out, or soon after. Not after it's long gone and swapped out. I know you're busy but it can't be that difficult, surely. Hell, you can easily get one of us to do it xD
(I really love the entries, as someone who designs creatures I love reading about other peoples unique species and creations)
Embidi wrote on 2014-05-14 21:07:07:
Why have the coatl received a encyclopedia page but not the imperial, wildclaw, nor the sky dancers yet? They are all older than the coatl…….

I'm just kind of curious about that (I'm very happy the coatl got a page don't get me wrong!)

Hey everyone! We haven't forgotten about these other breeds. There wasn't any real specific reason for why Coatl lore came out before them, it's just how it worked out. We're still fleshing out a lot of lore as time goes on (some taking us a bit longer to envision/build), so these breeds will receive their background treatment just like all the rest. Don't worry - they're not being ignored!

Homeland of Wildclaw, Sky and Imp?
May 14, 2014, 19:28:01
For the curious:
  • Wildclaws are nature.
  • Imperials are Light.
  • Skydancers are wind.

There is no limit to 1 species per elemental origin. Icewarden in particular was disappointed in Tundras. (Poor Tundras - daddy no love.)

In the future you can expect to see additional breeds that herald from all over the world. We have 2-3 breeds being worked on at any given time, as there is a ton of gene and apparel backlog to cover. Shadow flight can rest assured that one or more of the in-production breeds are going to originate from Tangled Wood. :)

A Little Bit of Business

Senior Moderator, @Amalythia, has written up a reminder for our players, old and new, about the forums. We strongly recommend you read through it as the post covers forum expectations and thread placement.

If you have any questions or reports of on-going harassment, please send them through Contact Us. While we encourage players to privately message the moderators or myself of a thread that requires active moderation, all other reports need to go through Contact Us so that we may properly track everything.

On weekends, if you need help sooner rather than later, please message the moderators before messaging me as I most likely will not see your messages until Monday. While the Administrative team is never very far from the site, we all try to take our weekends. In the event of something urgent, the mod squad is able to quickly reach us if it is required.

If your forum is without a moderator, please PM me for sticky requests.

Skins/Accents
Current skin and accent approval times have been a bit on the longer side. To address this, we have brought on a new staff member, @suburbansamurai, who will be helping with skin/accent approvals so that you can turn your creativity into in-game equippables that much swifter!

If your skin or accent has an error or was uploaded incorrectly, it is helpful for players to continue to utilize the skin/accent tracking thread so that all the skin queue staff can coordinate to address issues as they come up. It's harder to miss a reported problem when they're all consolidated in one place rather than all over the forums.

Registration

Oh sweet Arcanist, nothing could have prepared us for that registration window! It was incredible!

We've gained 20,144 new community members and we've also gathered quite a bit of valuable data. The entire team was working behind the scenes. Our developers had a finger on the pulse of the site the entire time, information was flying back and forth, we were determined to give you the smoothest, most enjoyable experience we could. There were hiccups, yes, but those hiccups were very informative and we have several leads on how to improve the site so we can throw the registration doors open permanently.

Encyclopedia

We are slowly rolling out additions to our Encyclopedia. Here are a pair of new entries for you to enjoy:

Coliseum
We are very happy to see the site remain stable under the weight of our new userbase and use of Coliseum! We know some of you are struggling with your Coliseum connection and we are continuing to investigate what is going on. Our apologies for the frustration, we want everyone playing our games!

We are continuing to balance the coliseum loot tables to provide a rewarding loot curve as you level. Here are a few of the recent additions you may find in your skirmishes:
Lyretail Puffer Ragged Skirmisher Scrap Chimera Relic Incorporeal Dinner

Fairgrounds

Tidal Trouble: Oh my! For awhile there, we had 2000 puzzles pending approval at any given time! We are happy to say that that is no longer the case! The queue is at a much more manageable level now and you shouldn't have to wait too long going forward to find out if your puzzle is approved.

Unfortunately, we are rejecting more than we approve so here's some good rules of thumb to help you when submitting your puzzles! These guidelines help to ensure that puzzles are enjoyable, challenging, but not unsolvable.
  • Puzzles with 9-11 bubble colors will not be accepted.
  • Puzzles with 8 bubble colors must have a low bubble/row count or they become impossible to solve. 3 nearly full rows or 4 partial rows.
  • Puzzles with more than 5 bubble colors may not go more than halfway down the screen.
  • Puzzles with multiple 5+ consecutive chains in the puzzle. This becomes a judgement call, but if there's a chain of 15 bubbles in the puzzle we're going to be looking hard at it.
  • Barrier elements are discouraged. Barrier elements with high bubble variety counts are very discouraged and will most likely be rejected immediately.
  • Puzzles should take at least 6 shots to solve.
  • Connecting to the top in more than one location is good. Consecutive chains count as one connection. If the majority of a puzzle is connected to the top by one chain, that counts as one connection.
  • Puzzles should not create logos from other companies, this is a copyright violation.
  • Puzzles should not use trademarked terminology in their titles, also a copyright violation.
  • Puzzles should not use foul language, reference sexual acts, reference drugs, reference real life religions, reference real life tragedies, reference nations/nationality, or call out specific players. Titles should also be words, not random letters.

We've heard your concerns about the difficulties of puzzles. To address this we, daily, review the data collected on the win/loss ratio of each puzzle and remove them as needed.

May 13, 2014, 18:07:03
@Fara Adding an item to the coliseum does not affect the drop rate of other items or chance of them appearing. It's a stand-alone system. Adding a food item does not affect battlestone drop rates.

Good catch. It looks like I uploaded it at 375x375. Whoops! It should be fixed now.

@SpectralDragon Tundra with fae skin is someone purposefully messing with skins and breed changes at the same time in multiple tabs. It's not something you would ever encounter through normal gameplay.
