The Augite protector that is often seen with Eothas doesn't seem to receive much maintenance from it's owner, some of the clan members (the tinkering sort anyway) have often wondered how a familiar known for it's tendency to fall apart does so well with as little care as this one gets.

Rumour has it that the golem's creator must have been powerful as well as highly skilled in the art of golemancy, leading some to speculate on the existence of Eothas' hidden talents.

Eothas pointedly avoids the scientists of the clan, often expressing his distaste for their methods of study. His experiences with the scientists who prompted the invocation of his runes are the main reason for the underlying distrust, although he has learned to mostly tolerate the Ecci's resident scientists

~

"Suncatcher! It's definitely a Suncatcher!" The words woke him like they did when he was just a hatchling, Ugh, I thought it would work this time he groaned to himself, stretching and opening his eyes to the familiar muted light that filtered through his veil. Eothas made a mental note to return the remaining syrup - most of the bottle - to the apothecary.

The same dream, of course it was always the same dream for him, sleeping drafts or enchantments gave him peace for a night or two at most, but once his mind grew accustomed to them, the dream would always return. It drove him near to mad for the first few cycles, having to live that day over and over. But over time, he had nearly grown used to it. In fact, there was very little reason to continue his sampling of remedies, the intensity of his dreams had faded and even now, was mostly confined to the times when his mind was weakest - during sleep.

When his runes were newly invoked, the dream was constant, it was all he could see and hear. Near mad, the pearlcatcher could not function without external help. The ones who prompted his rune invocation sent him away, 'one of the duds' they classed him, 'powerful, but unstable'. And so, he spent most of his adolescence under the care of his elder brother Galen, who was considered another one of the 'duds' for his refusal to invoke his own runes.

He often considered it the most important day of his life, and in fact prefers to think of it as the start of his life- 'his true hatchdate' he sometimes calls it. Of course he was too young to realise the danger of what he did at the time. But he also had many many cycles to re-live the day, to realise how amazingly lucky he was, to let his hatred for the dragons involved grow.

The day he invoked his runes.
