Actually, no. It is laudable that the artists put hard, hand work into the dragons, but you're assuming they would need to redo each wing.
Yes it would probably be more complicated for something like shimmer, possibly to the point of being out of the question. But for something like filling in the eye spots, or making the stripes another color? Should not be a problem, it would just be another part of the wing fetched ontop of it, like a piece of clothing or an accent, rather than a completely different wing coloring.

Another vote for a spiral pattern! Maybe something like stylized ripples or other similarly water-like designs?

I would actually like to make a meek request for an update on an existing gene.
I got a Mirror dragon with Mulberry because Mulberry Shimmer is absolutely stunning. It looks like sunsets and is one of the prettiest things I've seen in the game!

I've even bred more Mulberry Shimmer dragons and it always looks just breathtaking.
But then I changed my Mirror girl to a Pearlcatcher, and, well ...

It looks like a completely different gene. It lacks the incredible sunset shift. Would it be possible to update that sometime? I'm kind of disappointed that she just has shiny purple wings now instead of the work of art she was before. :(
