There is actually already a gene called Butterfly! If you click on "Scrying Workshop" underneath the "Library" section on the left of your screen, you can check out all the existing genes and colors :3

Idea for a gene "Fuzzy" giving a dragon (extra) fur on fitting places
could for example work like "Spines" just with fur, or "bee/butterfly" instead fins and feathers fur at some heads of different dragon kind
- hair should work in all colors
- it could get multiply colors or markings from other genes
- i think it would look okay at everyone (just not sure with snappers and ridgeback)
- it would change the lineart the same way bee and butterfly does.
- there isnt a fur gen yet (Tundra could get extra fur area?)

What about a secondary gene based on Stained Glass?
I mean that'd be beautiful.

A betta-fish inspired secondary gene!
Betta fish can have so many patterns on their lovely fins! Here are a few ideas I have, using photos of my friend's bettas (note the bettas don't live in cups, they live in tanks. The cups are used for photo taking).
Name Ideas: Betta, Fish, Bicolour

As you can see, the fins are two colours - one colour on the outside, black or white, and another colour on the inside. This pattern is called butterfly, but since there's already a butterfly gene on site, I used other name ideas. I was thinking the inside of the dragon's wings (and mane/frills/feathers, if present) would be the base colour (Azure, Crimson, Purple, etc) while the outside is some shade of black or white (the white and black range colours could then have the outside colour be the opposite - White would have a black outer edge, and Obsidian would have a white outer edge). Sometimes the difference is crisp, like on the first image, or it is a transition, like in the second image.
Another idea I have is a bit more simple, and potentially too similar to other secondary genes.

There's the base colour (black and red on these fish), and then another, shiny colour over top, in streaks and dashes, and sometimes making spot patterns. It's a little plain, but I think it can be quite pretty. As you can see, usually the top fin has almost nothing but the "accent" colour, and then the tail has the streaks, while the anal fin has the least/no "accent" colour. I think this could make for some interesting varience from breed-to-breed.

A gene that will make the thistle color look nice instead of make it look like your dragon is old and grey lol

WHAT ABOUT A PATCHWORK GENE. WHERE ALL THE PATCHES ARE AROUND THE SAME COLOUR. IT WOULD WORK LIKE PETALS, BUT WITH STITCHED ON PATCHES. ON THE WINGS AS WELL. LIKE A PATCHWORK WING.

CelestialBork Pinging myself cause I'm going to lose this.

I'd love to see some based of shorebirds, like the Ruddy Turnstone, American Golden Plover, or Wilson's Snipe

was also thinking of one based the Pileated Woodpecker

however, this one seems too similar a few existing ones
