perhaps Tigers Eye as a sort of tweak to the primary gene?. Kind of like how Gembond pulls the Tertiary gene into view but putting more of a Tigers eye gem shine to the primary color?.
I figured the way it could work is similar to how some stripes of the color are darker to lighter would be how it altered the way the primary color appeared without making it like the iridescent.

On that note, maybe a gene that gives the tail a completely different colour? Although that one would probably be better as a tertiary gene.

Just imagine the darker colour is the primary colour of the dragon, and the rings could be made of a lighter shade of that colour.

Feathers! I would absolutely love to be able to make my dragons all fluffy and adorable. I understand it still has to remain within the dragon's outlines, but even just the outline and individual coloring of feathers over the body would look really cool, I think.

I can't believe no one's suggested dart frogs yet (unless they did...it's possible I just missed it, I did just skim, after all). Particularly based on the more spotted varieties.
