I don't have a set idea for a gene yet but I'll say one thing. A lot of genes that don't add in accent colours seem to just take the base colour, make it a shade darker, and use it to add texture. I feel like even genes without accent colours should add some slight hue variation to prevent genes from looking flat. I feel that it's the reason why I typically don't go for genes like laced/edged, leopard/clouded etc bc they feel so flat and unvaried to use.

A watercolor gene, multi colored, cloudy patches with a touch of texture on a light/lighter colored base. Probably be a good Baldwin gene.

How about this: fish scales! Displayed on a Tundra because they are the least scaly regular breed. I really want a primary gene that doesn't darken the base colors, but shifts the hue instead. Similar to Iridescent. Depending on the color, it can be more or less vibrant and contrasting. Here are Auburn, Spearmint, Ultramarine and Pistachio.

I think this could be a great gene for other dragons in general as well.(I don't know how/have an editing program to do this to other dragons to find out, but I think this is a great idea for a gene!)
Not only do I think this gene is both beautiful and original, I think it would definitely provide the opportunity for a matching 'shimmer scale' underbelly or otherwise matching tert.

Fish Scales vote for me, too. I will put that on so many dragons!
For my gene suggestion, Chameleon. It would wind up being a bit like Lionfish or other genes with accent hues, but it would require at least three colors in the Primary gene to work. You have a base color, darker stripes, and a streak of a lighter color along the side of the body.
