I am here for @RabidWhovian's feather suggestion, esp building off that chicken pic. Several colors could just have a flat color pattern, but other colors that are known for having a secondary color accent? Like that chicken could be a prime example of Orca Feathers (or whatever the gene names would be. preferably primary/secondary, rather than a tert). Metals could have the gold color with that silver-ish outline. Violet has a brown outline, Sky has a white outline, Tarnish has that blueish outline, Radioactive has a bright purple outline a la Jaguar/Rosette, etc etc.

glowshroom gene, makes either the body or wings, depending on whether primary or secondary, sprout glowing mushrooms in the color of the accent color.
Could also work as a tert, but I personally would prefer primary/secondary

How about a primary/secondary gene pair that give dragon a fabric-like texture? Like jeans or something. We have gene that looks like unnatural thing like metal, so why not.

What do Arcane dragons call magical shards? Starbucks.

Heres my first examples of it being on a Female PC, Im planning on making more examples later.

I have a whole list of cool things I could see on a dragon don't mind me
-Basslet (fish), although I'm not sure if it would work best as a secondary or not
-Angelfish??
-a Chameleon-like deisgn
-Sabino
-Ribbon Seal
idk?? I think tropical fish and different type's of lizards are really cool!

I would love this. We could have stuffed animal dragons. And imagine the lore possibilities! Voodoo doll dragons.

I propose something to the effect of adding outlines to individual scales/feathers. Here are some examples in nature.

The outlining would be the accent colour of the base colour. I can imagine some positively stunning Copper dragons with this ;)
To add onto that, some Arowana or Butterfly Koi:

I'd LOVE a siamese gene!
or...
GOO/JELLO DRAGONS yes
bonus if the lineart has little drops of goop/jello (maybe a alchemy exclusive gene?)

I think it'd be neat to look to familiars for gene ideas. We've got plenty with all sorts of neat patterns!
For genes drawing from the regular palettes, there's these:

I know the tapir gene previewed a while back did not get good feedback, but I think people would be much more open to softer, baby boar type stripes.

I think this gene would strike a nice balance between "pretty" and "simple", so it's be good for people who don't want a busy design, but don't like basic due to how it'll dominate a breeding.

And for genes drawing from a skink/poison/petals type palette:

A good ruff/collar marking would be nice, and, again, not as busy as most other genes.

Some splotchy lines, like a more colorful version of the baby boar markings, could be quite fun.

This one might be a bit too similar to skink for some peoples' tastes, but I think the different balance it strikes between the colors really makes a difference. I would use this gene all the time.

YES!! More simple and natural genes please!! Too many genes look "drawn on" rather than like natural colour patterns. I'd love some kind of simple gradient/faint speckle pattern like on the unicorn.
