I don't know if this has already been suggested but I would like a wing gradient gene. Something like the wing gradient you get with circuit but without the lines.

@Zwynx
I really like Phoenix, it would probably be a very expensive gene, since it alters the dragon's original design (although firefly kind of does that with the Pearlcatcher)

I would personally like to see a tertiary involving spots. Something called like Dapple with some light spotting on certain parts of the dragon.

There's no way to put this delicately lol and it'll never happen But
Usable Scales that doesn't have that very odd strip above the stomach

we coulda had it all
I LOVE the details on this gene, whoever did that did a good job but I will never be able to use it because of that aspect, it is just so weird and unnecessary. And I could understand it if it made sense/mimicked a natural animal but it doesn't even do that. If it was just the extremities ("beak", legs, and i guess hands of the wings but I don't like it much there either) I can guarantee it'd be a much more used gene.
Honestly for future tertiary genes I wish the community could vote. So many (e.g. contour, lace, scales, thylacline, okapi) have small aspects that make them hard to work with in ways there seems to be a common consensus on. It just seems like a waste of the artist's effort making them for every breed only for them to be extremely niche at best for a reason that could've easily been fixed. I see a far more equitable spread of diverse primary/secondary usage, with tertiaries people really only stick to a few in my experience.
Also I want some naturalistic markings (spots, stripes, etc) but I don't want all of them to use gradients because those often just look very flat to me. You can use a gradient within a solid area of the tertiary but when it fades into the pri/sec it often causes issues.
I also think spotted underbelly that is as complex as jag/ros and is ONLY on the undersides (to make it most usable) would be awesome.

This idea is sorta like, have you ever seen someone put a flashlight in their mouth? You know that odd translucent glow where you can see the light through the skin? Something like that would be interesting, maybe only be able to see the glow in certain area's maybe?

The idealist sees the world as it should be. The realist sees the world as it is. The pessimist sees both.
Something pretty subtle and simple but would be quite versatile: a tert that color a dragon claws/nails, around the eyes like eye shadows and maybe the tips on the horns (or head frills/head feathers on the hornless breeds). Sort of like a "makeup" tert I suppose. The color can be a bit glittery.

What do Arcane dragons call magical shards? Starbucks.

A patchwork gene that's a little like a cross between stain and opal. Fun and quickly adds interest without being overwhelming. Probably a Baldwin gene

(In order: Shadow, nightshade, honey, hickory)
This seems very artificial, how would this work in lore and be inherited? Well it could work as a genetic skin condition where skin becomes thick, cracked and discolored, stitching is done to prevent infection by closing the cracks.

OMG THIS
Yeah I kinda need this in my life... omg it's just sooo wonderful, I think this could be great also for the tertiary color curse to put it in those words, horrible tertiary colors might actually look okay/good with this gene
Yes please! 100% support this is super nice, it would definitely solve the problem of a bad tert color and balance out the dragon at the same time

This has to be one of the best idea I've seen on this thread - it's simple and fun, I love it :D

This would he awesome as a pre halloween/plague fest release

This is sooo good! It's so fun and interesting. Super unique, users could get a lot of mileage out of this gene. :0

But here is a fin tertiary gene designed by Grif.
I thought Id share it since honestly, if this came out Id likely just regene 35% my lair. xP

If this became a thing, I'd probably regene pretty much all of my people reps on my front page. My lair is like dedicated to swim so fins please.
That gene would be pretty nice!
It kind of reminds me of Scales, but represents more fish than reptiles. Especially for water-themed dragons that would be great! But also for many others since the fins could be also helpful for flying :3
