I'd love to see a gene that is dominant on the wings (and perhaps the horns too) and not on the body as all current terts are
"Jay"
Based off the bluejay, the tertiary color would tint the head like a helmet and turn all horns/head things that color as well as adding a lighter shade and a darker shade to the areas around the eyes. The muzzle is darkened a few shades.
The wings would be almost similar to Seraph in that they have different colored sections, but in Jay they would look like a Blue Jay's wings:

And be staggered with stripes and white/black tips, with drastic highlights and shading.
The tail would also be striped with a white/black accent.
All affected areas have a slight sheen.

Hi there, suggestions thread! I come to you proposing the following tertiary:
Thylacine.
Okay, so, actually I'm proposing a massive template alteration and facelift to Thylacine. I've been on FR since the beginning of the site, and while not every gene may be my personal cup of tea, I don't think any of them suffer from the same kind of template flaws that this one does. It's a visual problem I've actually been picking at off and on for a long time; the only colors I ever see that successfully pull it off are high contrast dark-on-light with extremely rare exceptions. It's one of those genes I felt like was a fantastic idea and just didn't wind up playing out as well as it could have. I mocked up what I feel like is a possible solution to the extremely-specific-contrast problem.
Instead of this...

Something like this.

(more examples mocked up -- https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32175950/FlightRisingStuff/EXAMPLEDERGSthewholelot.jpg -- with a decent breadth of low contrast, high contrast, and reversed palettes)
I think the gene would really benefit from some clever edge erasure to separate the background "haze" from the stripes, as well as softening that gradient more gently to a faded end and possibly reworking the stripes to look more organic. Of course there are always going to be certain color combos that looks weird or vibration burn-y, but testing it out on various random scrys in the workshop, I found that it works a lot more of the time with the benefit of contrast from the primary color making the false edges than it doesn't.
Personally I would also vote on either removing the wing stripes (I don't think I've ever seen them blend in naturally with other patterns) or making them uniformly spread across the entire edge of the membranes like the Stripes gene secondary does. Removal would probably make it a more universally popular/usable tertiary, since relegating the stripes strictly to the body mass means you could have more freedom on what to do with your secondary.
Anyway, I think I've put enough word blurbage here. Good thread! I'm glad it exists.
SUPPORT!
This looks BEAUTIFUL, though I will say that I like the stripes on the wings. They only bug my because of that dang haze between the stripes that covers up any detail on the wing edge. Though I will be totally honest and say that is the ONLY changes they made to it were these "some clever edge erasure to separate the background "haze" from the stripes, as well as softening that gradient more gently to a faded end" I would cry with happiness. Because it is that overly thick haze and really poorly done gradient that makes it look so awful. I really want to like Thaylacine but 98% of the scrys I've done with it make me tear my hair out, I can totally visualize how good they could look if the shading wasn't such a mess. If the stripes had clean, defined lines, the haze was more transparent, the gradient more subtle and carefully done, it would improve Thylacine 1000% and I for one would use it all the time.

I love this idea. For now only dragon I have with thycla is covered with skin until I get enough to change this tert :/
Change may be great, just... not everyone will be happy with this. And even if change will be made, at least marks on bottom at wings should be on changed gene

I'd like to ask for a slight tweak to the Crackle Gene. I was scrying a Female Wildclaw, and wanted to see what crackle would look like on her, and saw this:

My question is, could the covering of the crackle be shrunk a little bit? As it is, it's almost covering her whole body (excluding his wings). I thought the Tert genes were supposed to accent the dragon, not cover it like a Primary. I couldn't really see her primary gene pattern because the crackle was covering it up so much:

Tertiary Gene: Aura
If you see any glow near dragon — that is his aura.
It is said that the power of glow and his color depend on the character. But in reality it is just a hereditary sign.
Here are two versions of the glow: simple glow and glow with specificity for breed.

We do not see the aura, where the dragon and apparel obstruct the light front of her. It can only be seen at the lumen.

"Outer Glow" photoshop layer effect same kind of a "good" idea for tertiary gene, as either of "Pattern Overlay", "Vivid Light" or "Drop Shadow".
