Seriously. If the staff doesn't want legacy eyes, they could just say no. That would end the conversation. Sure, it would definitely suck, but it beats not hearing anything at all for a year and feeling like we're being ignored. :/
They also said “no” to unretiring items, but enough people pushed for it, so we eventually got Roundsey. The same could happen for the eyes if they did say “no”! (Maybe, anyway. I try to stay hopeful, aha...)
But yeah, I’d even take a “We’re considering it” or “We hear you and we’re looking into solutions” at this point. If they really are considering feedback, some sort of indicator like that would be nice. ;; We don’t need definite behind-the-scenes info, but we’re also not psychic— if anything is in the works, we honestly have no way of knowing if nobody tells us.
I still want my dragons’ old eyes back, and still haven’t warmed up to the new Common. I still don’t like it as much as I like the old eyes. :(

Two more eye types, and still no word on Legacy eyes.
It would be nice to hear something soon. :c
"If you have suggestions about eye types, please use our Suggestions forum."
*waves* Hi, we're still here! I mean, if we can get a brand new natural type with brand new art that launches a brand new chapter of the Eyepocalypse, surely legacy eyes isn't that much to ask? =\

This exactly.
And please don't make Legacy Eyes breed-able only. That could be the biggest slap in the face that could possibly be given the player base. It has to be a vial or otherwise obtainable on existing dragons.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
Been awhile, but still support.
Legacy eyes:
- already have artwork
- already have code framework/mechanical precedent (glowing/dark sclera/swirl), and only need a thumbnail created
- would only affect users who want it
- would restore the look that players bred and spent real currency to get
- can easily exist alongside current eye types
- can easily be created as an extra imitation tint for new breeds
- have a demand that will not wane
- can even help satisfy the need for more treasure sinks
- are a win/win for players and staff
Please staff, it's really painful knowing that
everyone can still easily 'win' and walk away happy from this, but instead seeing you guys continue to metaphorically shoot yourselves in the foot by completely ignoring and thus still getting hate for not implementing this (and other well-thought-through eye threads). I just want to be able to finally see an eye-related update without seeing the comments devolve into an angry, frustrated mob

And the eyepocalypse continues!
Now that we have some new eye types (including one that comes with a vial! Wow!), can we please get legacy eyes? There are literally 0 downsides. They make a lot of people (particularly old players) really happy, have already existing art, and are optional so no people will be upset!

I thought of that too, haha... ;__;
Legacy eyes as an Unnatural vial would be the least controversial possible “new” eye type to implement. Seriously, all they could do is 1) help older users fix their dragons (that they may have spent real money and many years on) who look bad with the updated Common, and 2) give all users, new and old, another option. If a newbie wantes white eyes for their Coatl because it’s blind: Legacy Ice is very white on Coatls! Someone has a Tundra or Pearlcatcher based on a character with white sclera? Legacy has white sclera on those breeds!
Please, staff?
This would be a very, very simple eye type to add that would do a world of good and has absolutely, 100%, no possible harm at all to be done as a vial.

I can't help myself with the gif, every time I come back to post on this thread, I feel like a broken record. But it's important to continue to show that this issue is on users' minds and still relevant. Saying nothing indicates everything is fine and we have no qualms. So, here I go again.
Upon seeing the latest update I was rather frustrated. Here we have new eye types and the central problem with that update nearly a year ago has still gone completely unaddressed.
Introducing legacy eyes really doesn't have a downside. The largest concern is what to do with new breeds, and while multiple solutions have been discussed, the easiest would be to either create eyes using the original shading style and hues so they can have legacy eyes as well, or just have common and legacy be the same. Though I'd be happy with either, creating a legacy-like eye type and calling it legacy for any new breeds would be more satisfactory to more people.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The original eyes were fine, and in many cases, better than common in many people's opinions, including my own. This isn't nostalgia talking here, I have closely compared many breeds and elements and in most cases, prefer the originals in both shading and hue as those are the most noticeable changes between the two. The original shading was smoother, there were subtle but very effective gradients in some cases (Spirals are the big one here), and the colors were different. Plague was brighter, Ice was less blue, Light was paler, Wind was greener, etc. Was anyone complaining about these eyes? Not from what I've seen and I've been here for going on 4.5 years. In all this time, I never heard of anyone complaining about the small differences between breeds and saying it needed to be standardized. I can't stand to look at many of my dragons' eyes even after all this time because common looks worse on them than the eyes they had for over 3 years.
I understand that those old eyes were made in such a way that they couldn't be made into templates for a variety of shades. That's fine, but that doesn't mean the remake had to take their place, especially considering the differences. They could've been left and this wouldn't be an issue, but it's far too late for that. Implementing legacy eyes as an unnatural eye type only applicable with a vial would allow people dissatisfied with common to restore the appearance of their dragons, allow dragons born after the update to have those eyes as well, and people who don't want it can just not go and obtain it. These vials would need to be relatively easy to obtain, but that doesn't mean it can't be done in a way that would benefit the staff and economy. Putting it in the treasure marketplace for cheap could work as a treasure sink. I'd even be willing to buy them for gems, and if they're in the gem marketplace for cheap, they could help bring more gems into existence.

SO much support. The difference between old and new Ice Coatl eyes is painfully obvious, especially since my favourite Coatl has them. It's been a while, I've given myself the time to warm up to these new eyes, but they just look subjectively worse.
(Also I went ahead and made a banner for this suggestion)

Darkfrost - Thanks for the banner! I put it in my signature to replace the plain old link I used to have. :’)
The change in Coatl eyes was huge, especially for Ice. It’s such a contrast seeing them side-by-side like that. D: I actually like the change on my Light Coatl, but it was very sudden and drastic, especially since I know a ton of people bred/gened Coatls specifically for the old eyes. The old Ice Coatl eyes were perfect for monochrome and blind dragons, and I’m sad that we lost them... even the other Flights were all so much brighter than the new ones we have now.
But yeah, like you, I’ve tried to give myself time to warm up to the new eyes- but I still can’t get used to how strange or just outright
bad they look on my favorite dragons.
