Hi everyone. Well, first off I'd like to apologies if this has been suggested before. I have to admit I haven't spent a lot of time in the Suggestions forum so I wouldn't know. With that being said, here's my idea.
I'd love it if we could give our dragons extra traits/ hobbies/ jobs by way of using items that we could buy from the marketplace or find in the Coliseum. What these traits should be exactly I'm not 100% sure but here are a few examples.
[UPDATE]
It has also been suggested that these could in the form of stat cards that you level up. I've gone ahead and made a list of hobbies and traits we could level up for our favourite dragons. Please keep in mind that these name suggestions are just that, suggestions, and if anyone has any better ideas please feel free to let me know.
The levelling system could work the same say the familiar levelling up system works. That being said, however, I think we already have enough daily restrictions on this website (like I said, familiars, but also gathering, trivia, incubating, etc) and I think it would be nice to not put a daily cap on how much you can give your dragons to work with. For those who already have tons of trinkets that could potentially be used for this (unless they make new items) of course levelling up would be fairly easy and I don't think this should be a problem if this is just a 'cosmetic' change without any real perks.
If we do get perks, such as exalting bonuses for these dragons, then maybe there could be a daily cap of some sort such as being able to level one hobby or trait only once a day? Say we get 5 traits to chose from, and we can only level each of them up once every 24 hours instead of just one every 24 hours. But I'll go back to what I said earlier! I don't think adding another cap would be beneficial. After all you can train and exalt however many dragons you want in a day without the system putting a stop to it.
NOTE! Whether or not we should/ would get exalt bonuses doesn't mean these traits would give Coliseum benefits. The Coliseum should still strictly work with the system that is already implemented. Your dragon's traits shouldn't affect their battle stats.

I love Flight rising as it is, and the fact that there is such a large pool of options for your dragons when it comes to how they look is fantastic, but I would like to see a little bit more. This change isn't small, I know what. But I can't do no harm by just suggesting something.
These traits wouldn't pass on to babies, so it wouldn't change mating or anything like that.
I hope I covered everything I was meant to cover, if you've got any questions please let me know! I'd love to hear what other traits you would like to see too. :)
NOTE: I've made edits based on the suggestions I've already gotten from other comments but if I've missed something let me know, share your thoughts!

- So apart from hoarding or selling or doing whatever else with these trinkets, why not give them an extra function: to give to your dragon to read!

- Again, we could add to the list of what we could do with these items too. Maybe not the last one since it's used in a festival but you get the idea, right?

It would benefit not only hoarders but also people that aren't inclined to save every trinket or item they come upon. Not everyone is interested in Swapping or Chemistry and these items could benefit our dragons directly. It'll be interesting to see what people will chose to do with their trinkets now that they'll have an extra option.
So far we only have the 'strongest dragons' help out in dominance. But who's to say you only gotta be strong to make a difference, right? Sure, train your dragons and exalt them, of course, but in the future why not also receive benefits from exalting dragons with certain traits?
Your dragon will feel a bit more unique? If you want to give your babes what's best for them why not give them something else to boast about, not just apparel, skins and good genes?
Perfect lair already? I'm not sure there is such a thing but sometimes in between saving money for that rare gene or going to the Coliseum to grind, you could also put some time into collecting all sorts of different trinkets for your dragons to further improve them to your liking.
RP/ OC potential! You can edit your dragon's description all you want, but actually proving that they're a book worm or that they're really handy will be ten times better.
