[center][size=6][font=Calibri]Part I: A Cure of Death[/font][/size][/center] [size=4][font=Calibri]It’s been countless lifetimes since the divines left, what is now called The Night in short of The Night the Stars Fell. Only stories remain of the times when the world was still young, and for most of the world, things were at rest again. Fiends and angels are still summoned, even gods in fact but sent away eventually. Tyrants still took over, only to be defeated. For once, however, civilizations grew. Cities boomed with life. Even the Banished Ones took to staying low. In fact, the Last War ended decades ago, and although it lasted long, many would say another would not come for many years. It left the land in one central power and such was the Imperium. Despite kingdoms still scattered across the world, for the most part, they were merely provinces who reported to the Emperor. Also known as Charlis the First, he was the one who started the Last War after the king before was gone without a warning one day. Meanwhile, no one has ever seen him, and the rumors over what he looked liked (or if he was even a he) are simply otherworldly. The point is, no details were ever leaked, and either out of fear for another war or fear of Charlis himself, no one dared to speak too loud about it. They whispered, but they were nothing but whispers. Lately, however, there is a broadcast around the land. Overall, in summary, Charlis I was looking for ingredients. Some were simple, some were ...not. Nevertheless, they were clearly for something unknown, ancient spells perhaps? Or potions for something beyond even the logic of magic? No one would know. For however rare each item is, once given to the Empire a huge sum will be paid. Enough to make one from a street urchin to living a royalty’s life. Name: Asriel Seymour

Age: 16

Race: Human...?

Gender/Pronouns: Male (He/him)

Personality: Asriel is always curious about everyone around him. He desires to be friends with everyone he meets, and thus, acts nice and empathetic towards everyone. He can act younger than he is at times, but he can also act like the opposite. There is still plenty he has to learn about the world, and he knows this, because he doesn't act like a know-it-all. He doesn't mind being alone, despite his outgoing nature. He doesn't mind working with others either; he could go either way. He hates feeling helpless, thinking that if he is unable to do anything by himself, people will think of him as a mere child who is just in the way. He is determined to look on the positive side, but his problem is that he doesn't want to look on the negative side. He thinks he can get past it by just ignoring it, but of course, things aren't that simple. He sees the good in everyone and will always try to bring out that good side in them, even if it seems impossible. That being said, he is somewhat self-conscious about his appearance, especially around those who dislike demons or are against demons of any kind. He doesn't hate anyone, not even the latter kind of people. At times, he can have some uncharacteristic panic attacks, but it hasn't been happening as much as it had before.

Appearance: Asriel stands at 5'7". His skin leans a little on the pale side, but it isn't too pale. His hair is black and slightly messy, with two ponytails in the back extending to his shoulder blades. His left eye is red with the sclera being black, while the right eye is a slightly dark shade of teal, and the sclera is white. He has a large x-shaped scar on his chest, but he doesn't have any other notable scars aside from that. He typically wears a white coat over a light blue shirt, brown pants with a rip at the lower right pant leg, and black shoes.

Backstory: TBR

Ablities:

• He was born with demonic magic, and thanks to the demon within him, he is able to use it. Or at least, some of it. He can summon floating daggers and ropes made of dark red energy, temporarily turn his left arm into a clawed, furry arm, and surround himself in an aura of the same dark red energy, which can increase his speed, strength or durability. The catch is, he can only improve one at a time with this method; in other words, he can’t use an improved version of everything at once. Not to mention, after he uses it, he becomes more worn out than before. Sometimes the boost he gets can be random! He believes he may be able to do more someday, and the one thing he wants to learn the most is summoning, for a specific reason. If he overexerts himself, his body temperature will rise, and getting overly hot will weaken his magic and just him in general.
• He can see in the dark only with his left eye.
• He can communicate with his demon telepathically or entering his own mindspace, usually when he falls asleep. In other words, he typically has no dreams or nightmares. Typically.

Other:

• Asriel is Roxanne's charge. He wants to help get the required items because he wants to go on a journey and grow stronger with his magic.
• He hosts a male demon with the appearance of a Wendigo named Angu. The demon isn't all that malicious, but he is pessimistic and can be overly analytical, not to mention sarcastic... though sometimes he is playful with Asriel.
• Him getting too hot or too cold is worse than it usually would be for others, as it heavily limits the use of his magic (getting hot weakens it more than getting cold thanks to one of Angu’s characteristics being resistance to the cold, but Asriel’s still a human so-). Getting sick with anything also does this to him.
• He is weak to any sort of light or holy magic… yes, this does include healing magic that doesn’t come from a dark or demonic source. It won’t make his wounds or affliction worse physically, but it will make the pain worse while doing nothing. Oh, and Angu cannot be exorcised out of Asriel’s body, because he is bound to his soul, so things like holy water will do nothing but cause the both of them a great deal of pain that comes in the form of severe headaches/migraines. On the other hand, if he were to swallow holy water... let’s just say he will enter a world of agony.
• He really likes eating meat, and he doesn’t really mind the taste of blood. That doesn’t mean he’ll go out of his way to drink it, though. He’s not a vampire or anything like that.
• He really likes energetic people, and can warm up to them pretty fast. Though, he likes everybody by default (most of the time), so yeah... XD
• After Angu very briefly takes control of Asriel (by briefly, I mean a few seconds or so), every single time, his black and red eye will bleed black liquid. He currently doesn't know how to stop this from happening, aside from telling Angu to not possess him.

Gender/Pronouns: Female (She/her)

Personality: Roxanne is a very cool-headed person. She can take in a lot of information and still be calm, though she isn't perfect in this regard. She has her moments of stress, especially when it involves Asriel. Despite the Last War having ended decades ago, she is still suspicious that something bad on a large scale is going to happen soon, as she isn't blissfully unaware of the negative parts of life. The grudges she holds are within, and she never really makes it clear who she has something against; when she is angry, the emotion comes in a 'calm' form, which might just make it more intimidating. Some of her decisions to hang back may be questionable, but she always comes up with a reasonable explanation in her mind as to why she makes these decisions, like for example, whenever Asriel has a panic attack, she knows to leave him be and let him calm down on his own. She just wants what's best for him in general, and she knows that if he is too soft, people will take advantage of him. While not always obvious, she carries a quite a bit of pride, and when she is put in a situation in which she is rendered useless, she pretty much hates herself. She is stubborn and confident as well; if someone challenges her to anything, she will be 99.9% sure to accept it. These traits could work against her, as it has the possibility of hurting her or even someone else along the way. She has tough armor when it comes to her extreme emotions, and it takes plenty to get even close to breaking her; in other words, it would be a bit of a gradual progression. Even if she wanted to, she can never forget most of the memories she makes, good or bad... all except for one. She's not full-on optimistic, but she isn't nearly as pessimistic as Angu either. She finds herself somewhere in the middle, though leaning more towards pessimistic than optimistic, but she isn't aware of that all the time.

Appearance: Roxie is tall, standing at 5'11". Her skin is a light shade of blue, and she has a decent build. Her eyes are a slightly dull shade of green. Her magenta hair has bangs swept to the right half over her right eye, the length extending to her shoulders in the front and back. Her ears have pointed tips. She has scars over her shoulder blade, and more scars litter her back and stomach. Her fingers are tipped with black pointed claws. She typically wears a brown vest (except the inner edges don't connect) over a red shirt with the sleeves cut off, as well as a black scarf, black pants and brown boots. In her full dragon form, which appears to be a wyvern, she is covered in light blue scales. Her pupils are now slit, though her eyes remain green. She has a pair of curled black horns atop her head. Her black talons are sharp, though not straight-up lethal. The webbing of her large bat-like wings are black. She has a furry, magenta-colored mane starting atop her head and ending near the tip of her tail. Her underbelly armor is black.

Backstory: TBR

Ablities:

• She can transform into a full dragon form, and she gets the basic abilities a dragon would have, like flight and breathing fire. The catch is, the transformation is fairly painful, and her shoulder blades are always bleeding after she transforms back into her normal form. Also, she can’t stay in dragon form forever, as the longer she stays, the more energy that is being used, and staying in that form for too long could leave her in a very vulnerable position. If she is weakened severely or loses consciousness in dragon form, she will automatically revert to her normal form, and if she is too exhausted or weakened in her normal form, she can’t turn into her dragon form.
• She has enhanced durability and sight.
• When it comes to weapons, she prefers using her trusty obsidian dagger… or her claws.

Other:

• Roxie looks after Asriel, keeping him by her side. The only reasons she is interested in getting the required items is to make him happy and give him more experience, that and meeting the king in person.
• She doesn’t mind talking about her family, as she holds them near and dear to her heart... she just hasn’t seen them in a while.
• She ages once every 5 years.

He hides behind a shell of uncaring and indifference, but really he dreams to one day be close enough to someone that he can let himself feel vulnurable without being afraid. However because he is suspicious of everyone, he doubts that'll ever happen. He's not shy, but he's not neccessarily open either, so if he needs something from someone chances are he'll just steal it instead of asking even if he knows they probably would have given it to him. The rest of his body is covered in scales, which is tougher and scalier around his medial area but softer and more skin-like around his face and the ends of his limbs. His general colour palette consists of dark greys with sanguine accents. He is missing his right eye, which he usually keeps covered. His one remaining eye is a bright red with a slit pupil. His teeth are sharp like a dragon's, tongue is forked, and claws are sharp. He has short black hair which is usually messy because he cuts it himself. His body is covered with scars, but his outfits usually cover most of himself up so it's hard to tell. Usually he can be seen in darker outfits with many different pieces, and the only parts of him that can be seen are his one eye, parts of his arms, and his draconic features. His weapons are usually hidden, but he is able to take them out and wield in mere seconds. His boots often have large claws on the end that aid in climbing, but he also uses them as weapons if he has to. Although he doesn't realize it yet, he is extremely protective of things or people he likes, so if he makes even a single friend he'll probably aggressively protect them from anything that might be a threat. Even if the friend is twice his size and much stronger than he is. [b]Backstory:[/b] Alatheus doesn't like to talk about his past, he claims that it's unimportant and in the past so he shouldn't have to think about it. In reality he used to have a family. It wasn't big and it wasn't perfect, but it was his. Until something happened and he was torn from them at a young age. Since then he had been on his own. He had started trying to make it on his own as honorably as he could, working for money and bartering with what he could. But he quickly learned that no one cared about him and no one was going to give him any pity just because of his situation, and he decided if no one was going to care about him then he wasn't going to care about anyone else. He started to steal and fight. Although his career as a thief was wobbly at first, he learned from his mistakes and quickly got better. He grew cocky and thought he could take on anyone or anything, which led to much trouble. He stole something from someone he shouldn't have messed with, and paid the price for it. What that price was, he won't tell anyone. Who that person was, he won't tell anyone that either. All he will tell anyone now is that he will be the one to find those ingredients, and no one will be able to stop him. (Left this purposefully vague because he has secrets which will be revealed later heheh) [b]Ablities: [/b] Physically, he is quick on his feet and small enough that he can wiggle out of tough spots if he's determined enough. He is quick with his claws, teeth, spines, and various weapons hidden in his outfit (which usually consists of daggers, but occassionally he'll have something like a crossbow.) Although he is quick and his accuracy is good, he defense isn't all too great. Although his outfits occassionally have defensive metal and his scales are tough, if an enemy gets a good hit on his softer skin or cripples his wings, he would be forced to surrender or flee. He doesn't use magical abilities as much as he uses physical ones, but he does have the capacity to use magic. He can emit a thick black smoke from his mouth to hide himself, and his claws and teeth can inflict wounds that feel like they're burning long after they've been inflicted (the burning isn't so bad that the person will be incapacitated, but it is enough to not just been shaken off, unless the person has good defense against fire.) He might have the capacity to learn how to manipulate fire, but he hasn't learned anything like that yet. He is also inherently weak to ice magic. [b]Other:[/b] While he is trans, he passes pretty well (even when he's not hiding behind an outfit.) So that probably won't come up, it's just a factor of him. I'm also open to him being in a relationship with someone so if you're interested in him being with your character then hit me up. He's probably bi, male-leaning, although he hasn't really thought about it becuase he's a loner. Here is my character! They’re still a work in progress, so tell me if any edits are needed!

Estam Petal

Age: Looks 12, but is actually a few decades older

Race: Former human priest turned vampire

Gender/Pronouns: she, her, they, them

History: Estam used to be a priest in training before an encounter in the woods left her as a vampire. Cast out from the isolated temple she was raised in, she learned quickly to work with whatever she’s given in a situation. Finding more often than not that people would turn on her if they knew what she was, Estam carefully devised a set of rules for herself that served her well when helping her blend quietly into the background of human society. She apprenticed as a mechanic, learning the nuances of mechanical repair for about 3 years in an out of the way town before some of the more perceptive townsfolk realized she wasn’t aging. Banished for the second time, she decided to depend on herself rather than any society and struck out in the nearby woods, visiting the town only for the monthly news.

Appearance: Feathery light brown hair, about shoulder length, curious olive green eyes. With impish features offset by a full face, and pale skin with a smattering of freckles accross the bridge of a delicate looking nose, she fits the description of a young priest in training- but don’t underestimate Estam’s ability to pull off a truly wicked grin. At 4’2” she is tall for a person with the perceived age of 12, with a slim build that is in no way unhealthy. Her mouth has two incisors that taper into a fine point, but she rarely allows herself to show them. Typically she wears comfortable black leggings and an old t-shirt stained with oil, as well as black leather mechanic’s gloves and worn black hiking boots with sky blue laces.

Personality: Estam is shy around new people, easily overwhelmed by too many new faces at once. She doesn’t make jokes so much as witty comments that relate to the situation. She is always curious about what she calls “normal people”, as well as how things around her work. She doesn’t engadge in conversation so much as short exchanges with people she feels somewhat comfortable with. She’s not exactly comfortable with the idea of people knowing what she is, and will probably only admit to it if confronted with solid evidence. She tries to make herself as useful as she can, feeling as if she should have to do more because she can work without exhausting, as vampires don’t need sleep to feel rested. Estam tends to come off as aloof, aware that her decades of experience put her ahead of most people. Knowledge is important to her, and if she doesn’t know something she thinks she should, she’ll bluff until she has the chance to research the subject. Estam is nervous about doing new things she knows nothing about, and is about as mature as someone a few years older than her perceived age. Her star sign is Aquarius.

Ablities: Estam was in the process of learning basic holy magic like healing, charms, blessings and purification from the church but after becoming a vampire she realized her magic had changed with her. She can still heal, but the spell is a darker variation of the holy one, to mend any wound she has to draw on the energy of a living soul, be it animal, human, or mythic creature. The more powerful the soul, the more powerful the healing effects will be.

Estam can’t bless anything anymore, but she can create magical wards to drive off any specific type of creature. A simple ward is only effective against one specific creature, and Estam needs something from said creature like fur or a tooth to put it into effect. All simple wards will do is make the target want to avoid the area the ward is placed. Wards appear as a drawing on the ground, and only last for a limited duration depending on how they were drawn. More complex wards take longer to draw and more energy to put in effect, but they are more specific and can be effective against a single person or group of people, and even effect them from a distance when they get close to the ward’s range. To do this, however, Estam needs a personal item that holds importance to the target for it to work.

When casting wards and spells unrelated to healing, Estam draws on the energy of darkness, and can make it manifest as oily black tendrils for use in combat, but only at night. During the day, Estam’s magic is greatly depleted. Exposure to sunlight makes Estam light headed and lethargic, and if she can focus enough to cast a spell all she can do is heal minor scratches or draw extremely simplistic wards. The sun won’t reduce Estam to ash, however, as long as there are any shadows around for her to draw strength from, including her own.

More than a few hours in the sun, though, will inflict sickness much like a serious case of the flu, with spasms instead of coughing and a fever twice as high. Looking into sunlit areas seem to help cause this, so Estam always wears a blindfold to reduce the symptoms, using her acute hearing to navigate. She also utelizes a carved metal staff to keep from running into things. It also is what Estam draws wards with. During the night, the staff is slung across Estam’s back.

Other: Estam does need to drink blood at least once every week to survive, and eating anything other than raw meat will make her nauseous. Any blood will sustain her, but animal blood isn’t very substantial or healthy (almost like fast food) and blood of mythic creatures can be like poison due to it’s magical properties. Drinking human blood will turn the person into a vampire - unless it is freely given/taken without contact with the source. She always discreetly carries glass vials stored in a pouch on her belt for this reason.

Yeah that's cool with me. Discord is a platform similar to skype but it's designed for for gaming. A lot ignore people use it for its conveniences and since it operates with being able to create many channels to talk in. Check it out if you wants uwu

Another question, about characters this time: does the race of the characters have to be already known in fantasy with similar traits/skills as widely believed, or can we change core characteristics? For example, if I want a vampire character, do they have to be venerable to the sun/holy things or can we change it to fit the character better?

Hmm... I think its fine if you want to edit it to fit the character better? long as it doesn't make them op. You can also choose to say they area species that are similar but not quite, its all up to you. So yeah you can change it if you want.
