Yul
He just came back from an errand when he heard the news. Every guard and mage were ordered to appear before the king of ice at noon. He asked the women on the market about it, but they had no further information. It had to be importend if they had no clue, seeing that they knew all the gossip. It didn't make sense to go back home because noon was near, so he made his way through the back alleys to the kings castle, which was built into the mountain that protected the town from the back, while the rest was guarded by an huge stone wall. but nobody dared to attack the Iceking. Even coming near the city was close to impossible if you didn't know the way. The icedesert kept everyone far away and the other side was seperated by a mountain range.
He arrived in front of the gate and was stopped by a guard.
"Who are you and what do you want? The king is busy."
"I am Yul Frostbringer, a mage in this town."
"Only highranking mages and guards are allowed in today."
He sighed.
"I know and I am. My master is Lorin, the archmage. So could I please pass before you embares yourself more?"
The guard stared at him angry but moved aside. Yul made his way to the grandhall and realised that he was to late. The king was already giving his speach.
"We have no further information, but if anybody is wiling to take the quest, please come forth by the end of the week. I will then decide with my consultants who takes the quest. Begone."
Sighning again he scaned the crowd and saw a familiar male with white hair. He walked up to him.
"Hello Rievic. What did I miss? I was delaid at the gate."

Mui
She was sitting on a treebranch in the woods, dangling her legs of both sides.
"It's so unfair, Nox. I am a great warior. Why aren't I allowed to the speach? I'm not to young, brother could go and he is only two years older. I don't understand."
Under her a agreeing howl came from a black wolf.
"You understand me", she said and jumped of the tree.
"Let's see if we can sneak in."
She started running to the giant tree in the middle of town, which was the location of the forestcastle. Nearly no one was on the ground, the most buildings were treehouses or in the trees and connected through suspension bridges. So most of the daily life was located up in the treecrowns. Soon she arrived at destined place and she started climbing up the tree. Luckly the windows to the ballroom were open, so she could eavesdrop.
"...be sure to register yourself till the end of the week, to have a chance for the quest."
*A quest? That sounds interesting*, she thought and grinned.

Rievic
He was wandering around in the marketplace, searching for a suitable replacement to a broken tool when news of the summons brushed past his ears. Swiveling his head around, he quietly listened to the women chattering about the king's orders. They didn't seem to know anything else other than the high-ranking guards and mages were to attend. He breathed a sigh out through his nostrils and glanced back at the stall that he had stopped by. It looked like he would have to purchase the replacement later. He started to weave his way through the crowd, minding the passerby whilst making sure he didn't brush them on accident. He wasn't in the mood to deal with the other folk.

Upon dealing with the guards outside of the castle and curtly explaining them of who he was, he situated himself in an unoccupied space where the throngs of the crowd were thinnest. Having his arms folded across his chest, he quietly, but intently, listened to the king's speech. There was to be a quest. A quest of which was, presumably, the utmost importance. He didn't give it another thought since he didn't plan on offering himself up as one of the registrants. Starting to turn around to leave when the King had dismissed the people, he was stopped by Yul--a male whom he knew. And whom he didn't speak to much, but that was to be expected of him.

"You didn't miss anything. It was just about some quest." His tone sounded dismissive which clearly portrayed his thoughts on the matter.

Novicri
Novicri was coming back from his run in the desert when the summons passed by him. He looked back to where two women were walking and tried to listen for anything else pertaining the matter. He didn't come up with much. But, it sounded interesting, anyway. With his interest piqued, he moved to where the castle laid.

A quest. That was definitely something to look into. His thoughts raced through his mind as he processed what the King had said as he started to leave the Hall. It had to be important, he thought, his eyes glittering with the exciting prospect that lay before him. But, he had to find out more before he actually went through with his plan of registering himself as one of the participants. There was a limited window of time, however. He had only a few days until it was the end of the week was upon him. It was best he start as soon as possible.

Yul
"Seems like it. It seems to be interesting though, I will look further into it. But you won't participate, I presume. Well, I won't stop you longer. Have a nice day, Rievic."
He smiled a little at the male in front of him, gave him a headnod and left the castle. After the day he had, he was tired but he still had some duties to do, so made his way home, where his master was probaly waiting. The house was located near the castle and looked like an little manor from the outside. He entered and found himself in the hall.
"Where have you been? You're too late", his masters voice echoed though the house.
Knowing were his master was, he made his way to the back of the house to his masters studyroom. A room crammed with books, potions, ingredients and magical tools.
"I'm sorry master. The king summoned all guards and mages. You should know, you are the archmage", he answered. His master was standing in front of his desk, bend over some tool.
"Ah, yes. You are excused, but only this time. Now take this potion to Aiolus." his master made a guesture to a table at the far end of the room. Yul sighed, but did as told.
"You are free afterwards", his master called after him.

Miu
She jumped down the tree and started sprinting home. She had to talk to her grandmother about the quest. Soon after she arrived her grandmothers inn and stromed in.
"Grandma! I'm going!", she jelled.
"Going? Where? And stop screaming in the inn", a olderly woman behind the bar asked.
She roled her eyes.
"Yes, grandma."
"You are not talking about the kings quest are you, sister of mine?"
Miu turned around to see her brother standing in front of her. He grinned and went to sit at the bar.
"Can I get something to eat, grandma?", he asked.
"Of course. And what quest?"
"The king has a quest for guards and mages and I will go", she explained smiling.
"No, you won't", was her grandmothers answer.

Rievic
His expression was blank as he watched Yul turn around and leave. The other male was, supposedly, aiming to partake in the King's quest. Which was fine, by another's standards. But, his views were different. Looking around the Hall once again, he made to leave the castle and decided to head back to the marketplace. There was still that one errand he had to finish.

Grasping the tool, he nodded in thanks to the merchant before he started to turn around and walk past the few, lingering passerby. The chatter about the quest had died down somewhat as the folk in the marketplace took their individual leaves. But, the topic was on everybody's minds. Even his, much to his displeasure. Making his way towards where his house laid, he ran over what errands he would have to run for the next day in his head, and wondered if it allotted a reasonable stretch of time for him to slip away and practice. It had been a while since he had the chance, and he needed the time to himself.

Once he reached his house--which looked average excluding the fact that it was somewhat bigger than most--he swung open the door and stepped inside to the lobby. Rievic could hear his father setting his things down inside one of the rooms that branched out from the hallway and made his way over. Murmuring a, rather terse, greeting to his father, he set the newly-purchased tool down on the table.

The guard had turned around to face his son. "Did it take you half the day to buy that thing?"

Closing one of the doors to the cabinets that held bottles, each filled with a differently-colored liquid, he answered, "No. I had to attend the meeting."

"Are you going to participate?" he asked, turning around to put away the rest of his belongings which were still spread out behind him.

"No." The answer was immediate.

His father's motions came to a slow stop. "And, why ever not, Rievic?"

"It could be a fool's quest. From what the King said, there isn't a lot of information on the matter," he said in a quiet tone as he put away the tool in a cabinet underneath the countertop.

"Do it, Rievic. It could bring honor to the family," his father said in a firm tone. A tone which meant that he had to follow through with his father's wishes, even if his thoughts greatly differed and opposed them.

"...As you wish."

Novicri
Clicking the door shut behind him, Novicri loosed a sigh, his shoulders slumping a bit. The day had been tiring. But, exciting what with the rumors circulating about the village about the quest. Deciding to spend the rest of the day with a friend, he only made his trek back home when the exhaustion started to weigh him down.

He could hear his mother in one of the foremost rooms, glasses chinking aganist one another. accompanying her movements. He followed the noises and popped his head into the room. His mother, Aila, was rearranging the bottles of oils and other things around on the small table. Smiling a little, he walked into the room. "Hello, mother."

The healer glanced back over her shoulder to smile at her son. "Novicri. You've been gone for quite some time today."

"Sorry." He ducked his head a little. "I lost track of time running, and then, there was the meeting that the King had called for."

"Meeting?" his mother asked, a hint of curiosity in her tone.

"The King called for a meeting with the guards and mages. There's to be a quest."

Aila nodded and set aside the remaining bottles before she turned around to face her son. "Are you going to go?"

"I hoped so, but I can stay if you need the extra help now and then. Father is usually out on his shifts..." his voice trailed off as the hidden question presented itself.

"Oh, I'll be fine, son. Go. You have my blessing to. I know you're excited." She waved a hand around in the air, but smiled a little at the obvious excitement that her son displayed. He'll be fine, the warm thought rang throughout her mind.

Yul
The promise of free time made him walk faster and so he finished his task half an hour later. Outside of Aiolus house he took a deap breath and looked up to see the sun setting. then he turned towards the mountains. A few turns later he stood at the beginning of a small path leading up the natural stone wall. On his way he passed a few rabbits that jumped away from him and some flowers that blossomed even in the cold.

He reached the top just as the first stars were taking over the sky. He sat down on the edge and lay down on the snowy ground. Luckly his coat was warm. Then he watched the stars thinking about his parents in his homevillage. He wondered if they where doing ok. He didn't write them in a long time and he felt guilty about it. His mother was crying when he left them years ago to become a mage. They wished for him to become a healer like them, but always knew he wasn't one. So he had to leave. He didn't regret it one bit, but he wished he could have visited them more often.

"Guess it'll take a while longer till i see you again. Aha. I hope Rievic comes as well, then I would have at least a somewhat friend, but he won't."

Miu
She was sulking in her room, her head on Nox side, when her brother came in.
"Are you feeling alright, Miu?", he asked her and sat next to her.
"No", was her short answer.
"Why not, sweety?"
"Because everyone still treats me like I am a small girl. I'm 19 and I am one of the best warriors in my agegroup."
"I know, the generals know and grandma does to."
"They how come I couldn't go to the speach? Why won't grandma let me see the world?" her voice broke and she started crying.
Her brother picked her up and let her cry into his shoulder. he smiled but his eyes were sad.
"Grandma wants to keep you safe."
"But I want an adventure. I don't belong here being caged, Ragnar."
"I'll talk to her, ok?"
"Ok." She calmed down and fell asleep.

Rievic
"Good." Finished with his sorting, his father started to walk out of the room. "Your brother will be home late."

Rievic quietly nodded and turned around, himself, to walk out of the room. His brother didn't come home early these days after he had been recently promoted a rank. On the slow days, he usually came home around this time, but more often than not, he made the journey back when it was getting to be near the middle of the night. No doubt his father regarded his brother with affection and pride. And, the only emotions left of the guard was strictness and rigidity for him. He was used to it, however. But, that didn't stop him from saying nothing about his household when asked.

Rievic, with a quick glance around the lobby, opened the door and slipped outside. The cool, night breeze caressed his cheek in a makeshift greeting as he started to wander back down the path. He should have grabbed his overcoat before he left, but he was used to the chills. He liked them, even. He glanced up at the dark, cloudless sky, his icy-blue eyes pale in comparison to the darkness.

Then, he looked around the surrounding area. He wanted to be alone for the time being. Should he make his way towards his usual training fields which was near the base of the mountain? It was quite a ways away from where he was, but that was all the better for him. His decision already made, he started to head in that general vicinity. He would only stay there for a little while before he needed to head back to rest. He could run back in a short amount of time, anyways. No one would miss him.

Novicri
"Thank you, mother." His tone sounded heartfelt as he moved forward to embrace Aila. Her arms circled around his back and she gave a couple of gentle pats beneath the expanse of his shoulders.

"I know you'll be fine. You're my son, after all," she laughed as she pulled back. "Now, get going. I'm sure it's been a long day for you. Get some rest."

He nodded, his mouth curving up into a smile before he waved with a hand and slipped out into the hallway. Making his way upstairs to his room, he opened the door and quietly closed it behind him, he collapsed onto his bed. The back of his hand came to rest on his forehead and he closed his eyes. Now, I just need to tell Father,he thought and loosed a sigh at the thought. His father would be proud of him for taking the quest, but he would be, no doubt, sad to see him go. But, there was his mother to comfort him.

With that reassurance, his breathing steadied until he was drifting into a gentle slumber.

He dreamed of the warm meals he got from his mother after he spend his days in the cold and her hugs. The gentle pats on his head, from his father, when he did something good. The way they akted heartbrocken whenever they tried to teach him healing magic and he failed. He would become sad, but they always said he was special and he was born to do something great. The happyness on their faces after the archmage saw him cast an icespell and telling them that he would be a great mage with proper training. That year was especialy cold and he had to help his parents, so he didn't want to go. They told him, that they were sad to see him go, but they didn't want to hold him back.

The town of the king was very different from his village and he had a hard time adjusting. the training was hard and he wanted to quit more often than not, but his parents made it posible, so he stayed.

He woke up, because he was getting cold. Falling asleep on Snow was not a good idea. He laughed a bit. He did that all the time at home. His mother was angry every time, but he never got ill. He sighed. Then he got up and made his way down again. Halfway down he could see Rievic training at the base of the mountain, but he decided to leave him alone. He wasn't in the mood for people and it looked like he didn't want to see people either.

When he got home, his master was sleeping already, so he sneaked into his room and went to bed.

Miu
She woke up to a loud noice in the house. Her hand moved to the dagger under her pillow immediately, but she relaxed when she saw, that Nox was calm. Then she realised that her brother was having a fight with their grandmother. She wanted to stop them, but paused when she heard what her brother was saying.

"Let her go. You know, you can't keep her here. She doesn't want to be locked up."

"She is not going. I need her help and she will be happy here."

"No she won't. She will leave and if she does, it will be permanently. You will lose her that way and she will propably hate you. She is growing restless."

"She can go into the woods and go around town. She will not go. I will not lose her!."

"Let her go now and she will come back. You know that grandma. You know she loves nature and the wild. Do you want to see her happy or sad?"

"I know. I know. I want to see her smile and I know she will stop, if I keep her here. But I don't want to lose her. You are both so dear to me. And I don't want to see you go. I don't want to see it repeat. I don't want to see her go, only to get her back dead like your parents."

"She will come back. She won't be the only one. I'm sure of it. And she has Nox. She won't let anything happen to her. Trust me, grandma."

"Fine, fine. But if something happens, you will meet her in the afterlife sooner than you think.

She smiled sadly. She understood her grandma. Losing her parents wasn't easy for all of them, but she needed to go. She felt it. After silently thanking her brother, she went back to sleep.

Rievic
He came to a slow halt, his hands dropping to his sides where they were clenched into fists. His breathing was ragged as he stole a quick glance at the sky. There were still hours of the nighttime left, so he could try and get home just in time to catch up on a couple hours of sleep. Just a couple of hours until the rest of his household woke up before they set out, leaving him alone for a while. He loosed a sigh through his nostrils at the thought before he sharply turned around and ran.

Coming to the entrance to his house now, he slowed his pace. Glancing back the way he came, he reminded himself to set aside an hour or so in the afternoon to be by himself. Possibly to practice, but most likely, just to sit and think. Quietly prying the door open with cold fingers, he slipped inside of the house. The air was still, telling that the occupants were lost inside their dreams.

Clicking the front door shut, Rievic moved upstairs to where his room laid at the end of the corridor. Opening and shutting his door, he stood there for a few moments as if to gather his senses. Then, he moved to the bed and laid there, waiting for sleep to overcome him.

Novicri
The distant sound of the door opening and closing signaled to the half-awake Novicri that his father had come home. Murmuring voices filtered into his room, presumably his mother greeting his father, before the sound of footsteps appeared only to fade as they stopped into a room. Through half-lidded eyes, he glanced at his closed door as if trying to see what was occurring outside.

That effort proved to be futile and he rolled over onto his side so that now, his back faced the door. He'll check up on his father later in the morning. Then, he fell asleep again with that mental note safely tucked away in his mind.

Yul
He woke up at sunrise, but turned his back to the window over his bed and closed his eyes again.
"Yul! The sun is up. Why are you always so lasy." His master was standing at the stairs and called up to him. He growled and turned back again.

"Yul! The choosing is today and you haven't packed yet."

"Fine. But I don't know if I will be going", he yelled back and sat up.

"It doesn't matter. The ones who will be chosen have to leave immediately."

He sighed. This day was going to be annoying and he started to regret, that he wanted to go on the quest. He should have followed Rievic and just stayed here. What to take on the quest? Some spare clothes, blankets and his daggers. he decided that those were enough. Then he moved to the small kitchen and ate his breakfast.

"Take some herbs with you and don't forget something to write. Did you pack the books? You need some books."

"I'll take some herbs, if someone gets ill I can make some tea. But I won't bring books. They are to heavy", he mumbled between two bites.

"Are you worried about me?"

"Of course not."

He smiled a bit, when he saw the clearly worried look in his masters eyes. After finishing his meal, he went back to his room to get his coat and boots. A letter on his desk caught his eye doing so. The letter of his parents, that came a few days ago. Smiling brightly he put it inside his coatpocket. Then he made his way to the castle with his master.

Miu
The moment the first sunbeam hit her face, she was up making a mess of her room. She was so loud that her brother entered her room, looking like he would kill her.

"What on earth are you doing?"

"Packing!"

"The sun barely rised."

"I have no time to lose."

"The meeting is at noon. You have plenty of time."

"But I never packed before! Help me."

Her brother sighed. "Fine."

He then began to look through his sisters backpack and looked flabbergasted. He pulled out jewellery and multiple pieces of clothing.

"You don't need that much. One spare outfit, blankets, some medical stuff and food is all you need in your bag. And your weapon of course", he explained to her.

"Oh. Aren't I lucky to have you."

"You are."

They looked at each other and laughed.

"Come get your breakfast."

"On our way."
