With a drink in one hand and a cigarette in his other, the punk Skydancer rolled his neck and switched his attention towards the crowd. There were so many other dragons at the party tonight that he could barely make out the familiar faces amongst the swarm of bright colors, wings, and scantily clad scaled bodies but that was ok with him, after all he loved making new friends. It wasn’t until the front door opened that the skydancer turned his attention away from the little gathering around him, the sudden rush of cold night air bleeding thru the heavy scent of smoke and alcohol. He inhaled deeply, ashen nars drawing in an unfamiliar scent, ‘who is that?’ he asked himself as a new girl walked into the party timidly. The coatl seemed to be alone and her vivid sunshine colored bodice seemed to almost glow amongst the sea of dark colors capturing Ren’s attention and not letting go. He bit his lip out of habit, sucking on the small metal ring that clung to the outer curve of his dark maw; if that girl didn’t come to say hello he’d have to go and greet her himself. After all, he liked to think of himself as the guy that everyone knows so it wouldn’t be very nice if he just ignored her right? Right.

The music was blaring so loud that Ren had to lean into the dragon at his side so that she could hear him, “Do ya wanna go somewhere after this?” A sly, wolfish smile was playing across his pierced lips as he brushed his maw against the other Skydancer’s neck causing her to giggle sheepishly. (That would probably make for a good start. I am also subbed.)

Soleil shifted nervously as she entered the party. This normally wouldn’t have been the sort of thing she would attend as the new girl at a school where she knew no one, but one of the upper classmen had essentially forced an invite into her hand and pleaded with her to come. He only stopped when she agreed, and the dragoness was just glad that she managed to find something to wear. It wasn’t anything too formal, just a simple dress that exposed her shoulders and hung loose around her body. A few pieces of jewelry were also worn that were molded around spinel crystals. It left a good bit to the imagination, but she wasn’t exactly looking for a relationship. “Hopefully I didn’t come overdressed.” From what she had seen so far, she didn’t have to worry about that thought.

For now, she was just thankful that she had yet to be noticed by the vast majority of the crowd. She might ease into things later, but that would take some time, most likely more than than the party would last if someone didn’t come to her first. She hadn’t even noticed the skydancer looking at her as she headed towards the punch bowl.

Ren had been watching the new girl with passive curiosity as she moved somewhat timidly through the crowd, the music swelling urging swaying claw-tipped hands towards the ceiling as the party goers danced to the heavy rhythm. But much to the Skydancer’s dismay, this obstruction caused the cute little coatl to temporarily disappear from view, “Tch…” he hissed under his breath. The punk boy rolled his eyes in slight irritation and just as he was about to drop interest in her, the sugary-sweet looking coatl reappeared by the punch bowl and he decided to approach her. Getting up with a stretch he flexed his long arms over his head and rolled his shoulders back causing a muted crack to lick down his spine. Even though Ren was a Skydancer, a species known for their small size, he was uncommonly tall and although he was quite thin he was definitely not lanky. Lean, taut muscles ran across his body and down his lithe limbs, he wore a weathered leather jacket that had been patched with several band tags as well as a stereotypical anarchy symbol and a not-so-typical highlight of bright candies. More leather apparel was scattered here and there, wrapping around his wrists, waist, and legs partially obscuring his vivid neon pelt from view. With his cloth-wrapped wings tucked behind him, he made his way through the crowd towards the coatl and it seemed like his approach came just in the nick of time. A large, bulky Snapper had drunkenly stumbled out from the dance floor and almost fell directly into the sweetly dressed girl but quickly Ren grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him away, “Yo shove off it ain’t nice to be crashin’ into the ladies.” The growl coming from his throat was gravely and deep, marked by years of smoking and other vices but, the other dragon didn’t fight back and instead just went back to the dance floor. Shaking his head slightly Ren turned his attention over to the cutie, dawning a handsome smile tugging at the edges of his thin lips as he peered down at her and extended a hand towards her. “That was a close one eh?” he began, tilting his head slightly, “Name’s Ren and you might be…?”

Soleil watched the other dragons dance and couldn’t help but sway her tail to the rythme. It was pretty catchy and thankfully she had some experiance with dance, though it had been some time since she had done the actiivity. She quickly backed away though when a snapper dragon almost fell on her, doing so herself when she bumped into the table, though it seemed that she was safe for now, as a skydancer had moved the offending dragon away from her.

To be honest, he didn’t seem like the kind of dragon she would spend time with normally, though she wouldn’t normally judge someone off looks alone. If anything, she was just sheltered in her youth.Either way, he did seem rather nice if his current actions were anything to go off of. She then took his hand in her own and used that as leverage to pull herself up. “It’s nice to meet you, Ren. My name’s Soleil.”

“Soliel huh? I don’t think I’ve seen ya around ‘fore. Are ya new here? What grade are ya in?” Ren asked as he pulled his hand back, shoving it into his pocket and fishing out a crushed box of cigarettes. Flipping the lid open he lifted the box to his lips and pulled a single menthol from the box, pursuing it between his thin black lips before lighting it. As he took a drag he let his shockingly bright fuchsia eyes wander across her body hoping it went unnoticed, he kept that same playful smile and kind expression linger on his handsome visage as he took note of how adorable she looked in her modest little dress. This kind of girl wasn’t something the punk looking Skydancer was used to; most of the females he associated with were always after one thing or another and often used their bodies to get their way - not that he really minded - but, this dragoness was different and he sorta liked it. Blowing the smoke away from her he let the cigarette balance between his long claw-tipped fingers as he bent down to pour them both a drink. The artificially red liquid pooling into the plain plastic cup as he ladled in the punch, it smelled just as sweet as it looked and that could prove dangerous. Sugar-laden alcohol tended to get the less experienced drinkers drunk pretty quick because the saccharine taste masked the bite of the liquor and so as he offered Soleil the beverage he added a little warning. “Take it slow yea? Drinks at these kinda parties tend ta be pretty strong even if they taste like a melted popsicle.” Ren grinned a little wider before downing his own drink and tossing the cup aside. With his attention still lingering on the pretty little coatl in front of him he had almost forgotten about the girl he had invited out for an ‘after-party’ and so when the scantily dressed female Skydancer slipped up beside him he couldn’t help but quickly flash her an annoyed look. Truthfully, Ren had never been the type to like clingy dragons and one thing he disliked, even more, was being interrupted in the middle of a conversation - even if it was one was just starting. So instead of appeasing the other girl’s blatant jealousy, he decided to straight up ignored her instead of offering Soleil, the glimmer of sunshine in this dank party, his full focus because well, he was pretty darn curious about her.

The dragoness shook her head and felt a bit more relaxed than she had been, figuring that she could just let the skydancer lead the conversation. “I’m new here, but I’m also a freshman. My parents figured that this would be a good place for me, even if I didn’t exactly know anyone here.” Soleil then gave a light shrug, but was a bit surprised when he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. That and his apperance served as a good distraction from the fact that he was eyeing her up. She didn’t really make a comment about the drugs, though. He was the only one she had managed to hold a conversation with, and she didn’t want to ruin it.

When he offered her a drink, however, she forgot her nerves and took it in her hand. She didn’t exactly get his warning, though, especially not when he seemed to down his so quickly. “Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.” The dragoness then sipped a bit of the drink and was not expecting it to taste as good as it did. This caused her to drink most of it over the course of the next few seconds, and a strange feeling began to spread through her body. She couldn’t really describe it, but it felt nice. She didn’t even notice that her mind was growing clouded.

As for the jealous skydancer, she figured it would be best to ignore her. Ren didn’t really seem to care for her, so she was probably just under the influence of some substance or other. If anything, she just wanted to talk with the male skydancer. “Maybe we should take this conversation else where.” If anything, it would get them away from the other dragoness.

As the freshmen dragoness finished her drink within such a short amount of time he cocked a brow and considered getting her another but, he decided against it ‘cause she gave off that oh-so-young vibe and he didn’t want her regretting coming to this party. Even if the Skydancer looked rough on the outside he was a pretty good guy beneath the piercings, leather, and hair gel, or at least, that’s what he wanted to think. So when Soleil proposed relocating he decided to go along with it; Ren handed the other dragon girl the remaining half of his mint-scented cigarette and patted her on the head before offering his hand to the coatl. “Come on let's go, you can take my hand I promise I won’t bitecha and I don’t wanna go losing ya in the crowd. This is the Arcane House so I’ve been livin’ here and know a good place to get away from the noise and other stuff.” As the punk added ‘stuff’ to the end of the comment he shot his hanger-on a quick glance before opting to lead the way, with or without her hand. Surprisingly the Skydancer didn’t lead her directly to his room like he had done with many girls in the past, but instead, he released her and led the brilliantly colored Coatl down the narrow hallway directly to a dark blue door that read ‘Do Not Enter’. Then without so much as a second thought, Ren pulled the heavy door open and waited for Soleil to pass through the threshold. “Don’t worry about the sign, it’s jus’ a suggestion like any warnin’.” he added with a flourish of his free hand in order to appease any worry Soliel might have been feeling. Despite his general disregard for the rules, the boy knew all too well that most dragons here (and everywhere) liked to abide by the regulations because they didn’t want to get in trouble and so he tried to respect that when it came to most others he came into contact with. The metal staircase that rose up from behind the door led to the flat-topped roof on the 4-story building, a precariously low guard wall surrounded the rectangular surface making the area seem all the more dangerous. Overhead the stars burned bright and Ren looked up, taking a deep breath to wash the pungent scent of sweat and vice from his tainted lungs. “The moon must be hidin’ tonight ‘cause there more stars than usual.” he mentioned, not looking away just yet, “By the way I forgot to tell ya, I’m a senior here or well a second-year senior. Don’t really have any parents but the foster home I was in wanted to give ‘their kids’ an education so they sent a few of us here. But really, I think they jus’ wanted a reason to get rid of us…” The acid spotted Skydancer’s voice wasn’t melancholy or even vacant as he spoke about his unfortunate past, instead, he just mentioned it in a casual matter-of-fact sort of way. “So whaddya think of this place so far? You said ya don’t really know nobody here but you’re new so I’m sure that’ll change pretty quickly ‘cause ya seem cool enough.” Ren added as he glanced over his shoulder at Soleil, a faint smile still remaining on his lips even though his bright eyes told another story; to anyone who actually cared to look past his handsome face and pleasant smile they might notice the exhaustion and overall stress that read in his eyes but from his behavior it was clearly something he didn’t want anyone to notice.

Soleil had opted to take his hand and followed him through the rather crowded room.i The drink may have been messing with her mind. but she didn’t exactly realize it at the time. He seemed to know his way around, so he was essentially her lifeline.

The dragoness soon made her way through the door he opened for her, bowing her head in thanks. “That’s good to know, though I don’t think you’re the type to purposefully put someone in danger.” Her voice was a bit softer than it was before, though that was probably another side effect of the drink. Thankfully, she only had one before she had been taken away.

When the two reached what she assumed was the roof, she couldn’t help but gaze at the stars as they swam through the night sky. They really were beautiful. She didn’t hear that Ren was a senior, but she recovered in time to hear the rest of his story. “I’m sure the people who sent you here cared. After all, this place isn’t exactly cheap.” The dragoness then thought over his question and couldn’t help but notice the look in his eye. It seemed different from the emotions he expressed, externally, though she wouldn’t push. If he wanted to tell her, she’d let him do it on his own time. A light blush then spread across her cheeks at the compliment he gave her. “Thanks, though I don’t really do stuff like this a lot. Either way, I have enjoyed my time here so far. I’m in the Light house, and most of the dragons there are pretty nice.”

[sub]OOC// Sorry for the delay I get unexpectedly busy more often than I’d like. Anyway I was thinking it might be a good idea to go with a bipedal, anthro-esque version of our dragons since so far it seems like that would be the best fit for our theme. The difference from the normal feral style dragon won’t be very drastic but, instead of having control limitations with their hands/limbs/ect l they will be able to do essentially the same things as humans on top of what a dragon would be capable of. If you aren’t agreeable to that I’ll change my style of writing to represent that from here on out.[/sub] “I’m sure the people who sent you here cared. After all, this place isn’t exactly cheap.” Even though Soleil’s comment was meant to be comforting or at least kind made the boy lift a brow and repress a cynical laugh. Maybe he was just not interested in the young dragoness in that way or possibly he was just trying to be respectful of her because she didn’t come off as the easy, all-too-willing type or... potentially he was just playing some kind of wicked game of manipulation. It was too soon to know what his deal was just yet and instead of lingering in that web of possibilities he passed by Soleil and headed over to a place in the middle of the roof where it was vacant of any obstructions. Casually he cast a glance her way and Ren motioned for her to come join him as he sat down and made himself comfortable; the Skydancer stretched one long leather-clad leg in front of him he pulled the other knee up letting it droop at a lazy angle as he reached into his jacket to fish out a silver flask from an inner pocket. The boy gripped it with his long fingers, black-chipped nails grazing against the smooth, polished vessel as he unscrewed the lid and lifted it to his lips to take a swig. The acid punk had waited for the pretty little dragoness to come closer before speaking up again, his soot-lined eyes darkened with smudged makeup caused by days of endless wear, sleeplessness, and excessive of questionable activity lending him the appearance that Ren probably hadn’t actually returned ‘home’ for any reason. But that didn’t really ruin his desire to have fun because he took another swig of the amber liquor, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand before deciding to hold out the flask towards his new friend. “Yea, it might not taste all that good and it’s pretty strong but, hey I promise it’s still good and jus' warm cause it’s been in my pocket,” he assured her with a lop-sided grin before motioning to the place on the cement next to him. “So ya told me parties weren’t really your thing so whatcha do for fun usually?” the Skydancer added, his attention still fixed on her as he reached up to thoughtlessly rake his long fingers through his shaggy multicolored hair knots catching around his tattooed knuckles as he pulled back rough enough to snap them. Yeah, ok, it was probably clear to Soliel that this boy was probably not the best at taking care of himself because hair was kind of messy, his black nail polish was almost chipped clean off, the soft black shirt beneath his jacket had rips and wrinkles, and his eyeliner was definitely not defined. But at least he smelled pretty good for someone who probably hadn’t showered in a day or two right? Or at least Ren liked to think, because to him all he could smell on himself was the faint, warm spice of some overpriced cologne and the menthol cigarettes with undertones of the woodsy scent of bourbon as well as a hint of the cool autumn night that was now enveloping the pair; okay, truthfully that’s what he hoped just in case the Coatl did decide to sit close to him.
OOC// Sorry for the delay I get unexpectedly busy more often than I’d like. If you aren’t agreeable to that I’ll change my style of writing to represent that from here on out.

(That would work.)

Soleil didn’t exactly hear his response to her words on the matter of the people who sent him here, but she didn’t really seem to mind. His comment on her house did elicit a light smile from her. “Yeah. I can see how you might think that.” After all, they did focus more on more intellectual matters than anything else.

The dragoness then took a seat next to him, though she hesitated a bit before taking the offered flask. The alcohol from the punch earlier was starting to kick in, and the drink he gave her only added to that, causing a light blush to form on her cheeks. It burned on the way down, but she managed to stomach it before handing the container back to him. He wasn’t kidding when he said it was strong. Hearing the conversation turn to hobbies, she simply nodded. Was she actually making a friend this easily? Sure, he may not have been the type of boy her mother would approve of, but she didn’t really care about that at the moment. “I tend to enjoy singing, dancing, walking nature trails, reading, and simply looking at the stars. I tend to do the latter two when I’m alone or with a friend, though.”Of course, that wasn’t all she might consider a hobby. A light shiver then trailed down her spine as a cold breeze brushed by.
