Hollyeyes | DuskClan | Deathwhisper
Hollyeyes let Willowstar go to speak with Deathwhisper- his news would have to come later, it seemed. In a way, he was grateful. His nerves were eating away at him, and the medicine cat needed more time to pull himself together. There was a speck of dirt clinging to some tansy, flowers with marred petals, herbs not perfectly straightened... he busied himself by changing out the cobwebs in the empty nests of Willowstar and Deathwhisper.
The sky screaming in rage sent Hollyeyes whirling to find the source, nearly displacing the herbs in the process. Panic filled his being as the stench of smoke was not far behind, and he turned to the injured in his den. Some of them were crippled, unable to walk without help, and if they didn’t leave in time..
All of the herbs will be lost if we don’t evacuate soon enough... all of camp will be lost.
Why hadn’t Ashwing returned yet? Horror clawed at his being at what was misfortune after misfortune, and the medicine cat almost knocked Deathwhisper over in an attempt to spring from his den. The deputy was alerting him to the fire- only to burst into a coughing fit. The smoke was drifting.
No. No. Fire, ruin, disgusting disarray. How would they ever recover? Hollyeyes swallowed, and focused on the cats in his care, rasping, “We need to get the injured out of here as soon as possible. You are part of the injured. You need to lead the clan to the river banks, get me able bodied warriors to move the seriously injured.”
What about the herbs? It would take ages to move them in just the right way, and the clan needed at least some medical supplies if it were to survive.
“I-I have to stay here. I have to make sure the herbs are moved correctly, that they don’t mix, that they aren’t dirtied... we need cobwebs still, herbs for burns and easing lungs, but they mustn’t be sullied, they... they...” He was starting to panic, looking in despair at the den he had so carefully crafted. Was it all going to be destroyed?

Dogeye | DawnClan | Still most of camp
Dogeye nodded to Rustfur, warmth filling his heart despite the darkening of the morning sky. His former apprentice had grown into such a fine and capable cat. And he was already taking charge... this morale boost was what the Clan needed. However, at Rustfur calling him “Dogstar, a wave of embarrassment of his own coursed through him, and the leader fidgeted slightly, feigning a cough to regain his composure.
“Ah... please. It’s Dogeye. I have no lives from StarClan.” He asserted, falling just short of sternness. He had prepared for this moment ever since he had become deputy, and yet he felt as if he had been elevated out of the blue. But, at Rustfur’s reminder of the bodies, Dogeye felt himself sinking once more... yes, there was still business to take care of. “Yes,” he murmured, “Let us-“
Thunder and lightning cracked overhead, and he restrained himself from flinching. Dogeye pauses, waiting for the rumbling to cease, but it was not long before he smelt a faint whiff of smoke on the breeze. He was unsure of its source, but it was there.
“Do you smell that?” He asked, brow furrowing. Yes, he was certain there was a fire. “No doubt about it... there must be a fire, somewhere.” Dogeye turned, addressing camp once more.
“The hunting patrol will have to wait. We can’t risk being caught in a fire, however far it may be. I’d like to reassign any patrols to scouting our territory. See if you can discover the source of the blaze.”
Oh, mousedung. I should have let Rustfur handle that. By StarClan, old habits die hard. He shot an apologetic glance, and added more thoughtfully, “And I fear for Rabbitpaw. I believe she is still at DuskClan... it may be time to retrieve her.”

Willowstar|dusk|Duskclan
Willowstar ran to the medicine den, grimacing at the pain in her stomach. "We need to get out, there's a fire!" she meowed loudly. "Deathwhisper, get out of camp. your injuries are far worse than mine, I can handle this." she meowed, rushing towards a nearby injured cat. "DUSKCLAN, FLEE TO DAWNCLAN. THEY ARE OUR ONLY OPTION FOR SHELTER!" She hurriedly grabbed them by the scruff.
She started to run as fast as she could, nearly tripping over them. Hoping the clan has heard her, she began running east towards the dawnclan camp. She growled slightly. Everything here was wrong, there was no sign of a storm until the fire began ravaging their territory!
Her tail lashed as she got the cat to safety. "You should be safe from the fire now. we've crossed the river. I know it smells of death, but please don't go anywhere." she meowed. "I need to get more cats." And with that, she whirled around and began running back towards the camp.
Back to the fire.

Ashwing || Duskclan || Poppythorn
Ashwing barely flinched at Oakshadow's display of aggression, face like a stone as he fought to quell the rage inside him. This right now, this felt all too familiar.
Another snarky comment lay heavy on his tongue, but as he turned to watch the warrior leave, he caught sight of Poppythorn and he let the issue slide past. Now was not the time for fights.
"What's all the pity party for? 'I don't deserve your companionship,' did you hit your head somewhere?" He snorted, turning to face her fully as he sat down. Gone was the hostility he had earlier, and although his words were harsh, he fell back to his usual manner when he spoke to her and their mentor.
"I'm here because I was worried for you - and good thing, too, because you're acting as if this is entirely your fault and that this is be all, end all."
Ashwing sighed deeply, shaking his head. Even if this was how he usually was with her and Hollyeyes, that did not mean he could act this way. Poppythorn was afraid and already had much on her shoulders. It didn't help that he was going to have to leave soon, back to a home that would not let this situation be any easier. He had to be a little more considerate.
"Look. None of this- whatever you're doing." He began, more soft this time.
"This is difficult times now, but you've got no choice but to be strong in this. If not for you, then for your kit." Ashwing nodded to Aspenkit, her squirming and squeaks subsiding now and slowly falling to blissful sleep, ignorant of the situation and content in her mother's warmth.
"I doubt this will be the last Oakshadow will hound you about her, but you're gonna have to stand up for yourself. Even at the cost of him hating you; the only thing that matters is Aspenkit. Nothing else."
As he spoke, he kept a steady hold on Poppythorn's gaze, eyes narrowed and back straight. He wished he could stay, have another round with that hot-shot warrior and be by Poppythorn's side until she had to go back. But Hollyeyes was waiting for him, and it would do no good if the new queen got used to hiding behind someone. Somewhere in that ragged she-cat was the Poppythorn he grew up with, trading snarky comments and teaming up to be the bane of Hollyeyes' life. He searched for her then, because whoever this was right now was
not her.
Somewhere in the recesses of his mind, someone else was looming over him. Someone else was bringing fear big enough to freeze him, and somewhere he found something to strive for.
"Are you gonna teach your kit to hide, or are you going to teach her to fight?"

Makibaka // Dare to Fight
Deathwhisper | Dusk Clan | Hollyeyes, Willowstar
He stifled another fit of coughs, trying to settle down the panic both his mind and body is now on course towards. The deputy can only control his face and body to an extent, and try to focus on getting his thoughts to work in the familiar process they do. They can solve this if they just keep calm… Carefully taking a few deep breathes, he finally answered, "No, you will not stay behind. If you die, herbs or no herbs won't matter and Dusk Clan needs you. You stay, you die." He was about to say something else before Willowstar rushed in.
Hearing her command to go to Dawn Clan, he immediately added in a swift but clear meow, "Yes, go to Dawn Clan, they will have herbs and all you need. I can't help the injured, but I'll make sure cats are to get the injured. Hollyeyes, please, just help an injured to Dawn Clan and I'll follow behind." The lie felt bitter against his tongue, but nothing showed in his eyes nor voice.
Turning to leave, the moment he had to use that frusterating right forearm again his mind was already set. With some quick reasonings he knew well enough that he simply can't complete the order to get to Dawn Clan. With his wounded limp and cough that rises up every now and then, Deathwhisper already knew his fate.
He's not going to make it.
It felt ironic when he recalled what he said just moments before, "you stay, you die." Maybe he will die today. But strangely, there was no fear. Only a sense of satisfaction that it was for his clan that pushed him onto to yell at whoever is left at camp, "Anyone who is able, get an injured and help them to Dawn Clan! The rest, get out of here!" This is his duty, what he lived for. The moments when he felt just maybe his mother and mentor is proud of him.
There was nothing more that he can do, the bitter feeling of being weak buzzing faintly before he limped around the camp again to check if anyone's not moving and left behind. The air stinged his eyes, making tears roll and his eyes crinkle to prevent more smoke from coming out. Sorry Willowstar and Hollyeyes and whoever cared about my life. Can't obey the order this time. The deputy waited, his mind settling on where he's going instead; a place that might save his life if he's found in time. If not, he dies with his clan's home then and there's no going back anymore. But first, he's not leaving until the last cat -including Willowstar- is out of here and the deputy knew well enough that he's large enough to not be forced out.
It felt like the calm before the storm.

Bone looked over at Bane. "We can't let them die!" she mewled. Bane tried her best, but Bone was stronger than her sister. She fell back, tears welling in her eyes as Bone slipped from her paws, leaping to help Duskclan. leaping towards something that would burn her alive,
Bane watched with terror and fear as Bone leapt directly into the fire.
And all Bane could do was stand and watch.
"BONE!"
Willowstar|Dusk|deathwhisper
The she-cat ran up to her deputy. "I'm sorry to say this, but you wouldn't make the best leader. You forget to see the flaws in the orders you give." she meowed and she tried to push him towards the exit. "You told our clan to get the injured out."
she growled as he still didn't move. "You are one of the injured cats. You have just told the entire clan to get you out." She hissed with frustration as she tried to shove him. "So GO!"
She stopped trying and walked around him to look him in the eyes. "I don't care what you do, at least one cat from this clan is staying to help you leave." she meowed. "And if that has to be me, so be it."
Her voice was low, and trembling with fear. Fear for her clan. fear for her life. Fear for deathwhisper. Fear that Dawnclan wouldn't allow their clan into their territory. "Deathwhisped either you leave this camp, or I'm staying here to burn right beside you," she growled, glaring at him.
"Almost everyone has escaped now. But it seems like we won't. You don't want to live, do you?" she asked. her voice no longer shook, and she was perfectly still. Her tail lashed one more time, and she stared at the fire. "I don't want to live if it means I have to know my deputy and friend died because I wasn't quick enough."
"We're pathetic."

Adderpaw | Dusk Clan | Deathwhisper ruepaw
Adderpaw came to a halt hearing Ruepaws words. He frowned and smelled the air, it was a bit stingy but not really fires levels. He turned his head to the north part and between the trees he could see the faint smoke rising up in the air. "Oh what! There wasn't any Thunder seconds ago. "He growled that was sure that evil spirit. "Yeah lets go back"he told ruepaw and with Rabbitpaw following the apprentices go returned to a complete chaos.
Cats were running around confused and willostar was screaming around with hollyeyes refusing to leave his herbs behind and his mentor also looking like he gave up. The tom sighed why were they so stubborn even in face of danger.
"I go help Deathwhisper he needs a peptalk, you two can help the others. Rabbitpaw it seems that willow wants to go your territory can you lead them?" He asked but waited for no anserw walking over to his mentor and leader, leaning his shoulder to the tom.
He listen to the two arguing and watched as the fire came closer. This whole situation frustrated him both refusing to leave what with thes cats? He snapped" Both of you are patethic excuses of a leader and deputy. Stop playing the hero no one is here anymore like you said willowstar so for starclans sake move your mousebrained as.ses out of this place NOW. What does it bring leaving both of you here? There will be no leader or deputy to lead the clan. I dont want any more excuse even if i have to drag both of you through the ground. You get out of here" he growled.
With that he pushed deathwhisper from behind. Even if the tom was bigger then him, he could still push him.
Rabbitpaw | Dawn Clan | ruepaw
"OH COME ON" yelled Rabbitpaw in frustration. Why can't she have some peace and fun with someone without ending up in a chaos. With gritted teeth she followed the two back to Duskclan and as Adderpaw instructed her to lead everyone she nodded.
"EVERYONE FOLLOW ME I I KNOW A PLACE TO SEEK SHELTER"she yelled. And waited for everyone to join. She would lead them to the abondoned twoleg meadow

Stormwind|SkyClan|Twigstar, Jasminepaw
“Crystalgleam? She didn't come home?” Now that he thought about it, Stormwind didn't remember seeing their medicine cat along with the others when he was making sure they made it to camp.
“She must still be at DuskClan's camp. Maybe she wanted to stay to help clean up the mess Fallingstar-...not-Fallingstar made?” Stormwind was still trying to get his head around that one. He hoped it wasn't just a dream like he had previously thought, otherwise he'd sound pretty crazy by this point.
“I was...making sure all the warriors got home okay! A lot of them were hurt in battle, I was there to offer a paw if they needed it!” Stormwind said in response to Jasminepaw's question. He realized that, if the warriors he escorted home were as injured as he said they were, then it would have made sense to make sure their medicine cat was amongst them. Right now he was just making excuses. He was preparing himself for Jasminepaw's wrath when Swallowtail suddenly streaked by the small group.
“Was that Swallowtail?” Stormwind asked, turning his head in the direction of the camp entrance. Where could she be off to in such a hurry? Something told him she wasn't just eager to go hunting.
“Should someone go after her?” His instincts told him to follow her and find out what was wrong, but after yesterday it was more than obvious that Twigstar would need his deputy right now.

Deathwhisper | Dusk Clan | Willowstar, Adderpaw, Rabbitpaw
He bit back a growl, trying to not let emotions get in his head -not at a time like this, “ Look, you are a part of the injured too. That isn't a valid reason at all and we can argue all night till we both burn to ashes about that topic which is completely irrevelant anyways. You need to trust that I know how I’m doing and no one in here can carry me, whoever helps me to get to Dawn Clan will die along with me.” Think, not feel. Think. Deep breath. He was speaking everything in rapid fire, couldn’t help on the hint of irritation on the rough tone, “You are being a bad leader. By staying behind, you’re sacrificing your life and leaving your entire clan behind for one cat. If you were in my position, you would’ve stayed too. I can still walk, if not to Dawn Clan at least to somewhere close enough and give protection against water even if on the riskier sides.”
“I was never going to stay here and die. The moment everyone leaves, I’m leaving for Little Rocks; there’s no possiblity I’ll be making it to somewhere safe that is far enough without someone else dying to help me.” His eyes were wide open, piercing gaze staring back at the other, “ I never make a move without a plan Willowstar, I thought you knew that. I never will. If I were leading I would try to leave as little cats killed as possible, not keep the ones I befriended and the rest dead. So yes, if our positions are switched I would sacrifice you if you believe that is the only way and have proper reasons. If you do believe that is bad reasoning, then I'm sorry for you picking the wrong cat as your deputy.” His face twisted into dark malice, pent up emotions stirring, some of them from times before this long ago. He knew he shouldn’t be shoving them on his leader, but its too late. Anger, disappointment, distrust, all the things that he locks away so he can think clearly only to finally explode now. He was shaking a little, the barest hints of restraint tinting the body of the deputy. Flattening his ears, he would’ve said words that would make his previous seem like a shrew to a fox but was disrupted by Adderpaw and Rabbitpaw.
He was glad to see his apprentice, but definitely not here. What in Star Clan are they doing here? About to say something more -that he’ll regret later most likely- he was taken back by Adderpaw’s words. Like freezing water against raging fire shame made him look down at the ground, silent. He was a dissapointment, letting his emotions rule him like nothing else. Yelling at his leader. Being a stubborn idiot. He shouldn’t even be deputy.
When Adderpaw started to push against him, he snapped out of the brief moment of cold realization, and he finally said, “He’s right. We’re being idiots but Willowstar you can’t just give up. I’m still leaving for Little Rocks or else I’ll delay you three. But yes, it might be too late to go to Dawn Clan but the meadow he speaks of,” He nodded towards his apprentice, who I failed as a mentor, deputy and overall,”can still save you three. We need to go now if we’re getting out of here, Willowstar. Don’t sacrifice your life and other cats lives for mine. We need to go now and we might live.”

"I am not the only cat getting this clan to safety! I have the time to save you, too, because helping the injured is a clan effort!" she snarled. "But you need to try to get out as well. You don't have more lives to spare if this fire kills you! So how about you stop trying to be a hero and come with us?!"
"You can't put out the fire by just standing there!" She softened her voice a bit. "Deathwhisper, promise me you'll be at the little rocks." she meowed.
"I want you to swear to starclan that you will be there because if you aren't, you can have fun watching your clan grieve for you because you were too much of a stubborn mousebrain to move!"
"I take pride in leading this clan because, in Duskclan, we are brave, strong, and above all, keep ourselves and each other alive. You don't seem to have that instinct to keep yourself intact." She whirled around to leave camp, leaving. "Adderpaw, let's get to safety and leave deathwhisper to die playing hero." But while she left and was still in earshot, she gave Deathwhisper some final words to listen to.
"Deathwhisper, you disappoint me."
