@Azurenight I'll sub to the thread so you don't have to ping me :) keeps it a bit neater.
Lindarin waited patiently for each of his chosen apprentices, watching the gather, some nervously, some with confidence, and some just a little confused as to what was happening.
They seemed to all be watched from the trees that surrounded them all, a deep dense wood that sat on the border of the scarred wastelands and the tangled wood, but yet as the red corrupted soil covered the ground as proof of the plague's existence, the trees did not die, but rather florish, a clear line showing where the Tangled wood began, and the Scarred wastelands started, made distinct by the color of the trees.
Lindarin waited until all were present.

Wonderful and ditto =). As for the choosing of the deity, do you need me to choose now, or through Dash? Also, to let you know the scarring on his face will be a distraction for him.
Dash landed atop a tree on the border of the Scarred Wasteland; it was there he perched to watch Lindarin and the gathering of drakes around him. Were these the other eight? The parchment Lindarin gave him was wrung between two paws until it was a ball of sweaty fiber. After discovering what he had done, he sneered at his unconscious creation in disgust. "Glad I don't need you any more." The wad was shoved in his satchel to be forgotten for now.
The distraction was momentary at best and he found his eyes and his mind once again focused on the growing collection of drakes dotted over the red earth. The scars that riddled the left side of his face were already hot and achy. If not for the cream he used at the Riot of Rot he knew he'd be in agony. Instinctively, he brought a paw up to sooth the ache with a few rubs.
Dash quickly swallowed his concerns, "I've come for knowledge," he reminded himself. It would be a shame that his effort to come here in secret-- without an enforcer at his side-- would be wasted. He had covered his tracks to the point he even made a doppelganger of himself to sit in on his symposium. That in itself took ages to create, and even longer to perfect-- it had to get past Loa's attention after all.
No, he was risking a great deal to learn here and he wasn't about to miss out on it, not because of old fears. With that in mind, Dash left his perch to join the gathering. The weight of being watched lightened some once away from the trees, but it did not disappear entirely. Ignoring the fact they were being observed to the best of his ability he took his place with the others, waiting for the next step in this bid for wisdom.

Sorry for the delay! For some reason even though I subbed, it didn't notify me :/ And either or for the deity, both ways work :) And I'm all for characters having quirks and distractions, as seen with Sholka and a few others who's lore isn't formed yet.
Lindarin smiled and nodded at Dash when he showed himself as the last few dragons settled in, 14 in all excluding Lindarin. CursedOne, Devastation, and Sholka stood behind the group, seemingly appearing from no-where, with Sholka looking much worse for wear than when Dash last saw him.
"Get to know each other, and understand you are family, because you will be seeing a lot of everyone for most likely the rest of your lives, no matter how long or short they may be. And as a warning, they may be very very short indeed. I'm sure may of you had to overcome danger and terrible risk and hard work to get here, but that was only the start, and it will only get progressively harder from here on out."
Lindarin wandered about, checking over each dragon carefully.
"You are all to be apprenticed in the old ways, the ancient lost magic. Feel free to call me a heretic, I really don't care. I'll simply clear your mind of these events, and send you home with no effort." Small murmurs broke out among a few of the older ones in the group as Lindarin continued.
"Fourteen Ancients. 7 good, 7 bad. But just because they were bad does not mean their area of magic is, and it does not mean that you yourself are bad if you chose to learn that area of knowledge. I will not tell you who is who, it is up to you to decide, but in the end I will always have final say." He smiled under his mask as he conjured a scroll of names, and set it down on a rock, perfectly flat and undisturbed.
"One of these names, however, is incredibly special in that it holds a greater secret than any other. But I will not tell you why, only the one that chooses it shall know."
That special name is Lindarin's real name, at the end of his lore in his bio if you want to know and have Dash be a direct disciple of Lindarin, or keep it all a secret and chose another god :)

Dash awaited his turn at the scroll like a school cub eagerly awaiting to see his scores. His anxious hopping couldn't be helped. When he reached it, naturally he looked over the names on the list. Though, he had to pause at one particular one. Lindascran-Fel. After staring at it for a few moments he slowly twisted his narrow eyes to Lindarin and it was there they hovered. His eyes would narrow further then widen and then finally returned to the narrow. Blindly, he placed the tip of one claw against that name. His eyes staying on Lindarin the entire time almost as if he was questioning and at the same time choosing.
No worries at all =) I've actually had that happen a few times as well.

Lindarin used magic to cross off each name chosen until all names were crossed off.
"Now you may all be wondering why I didn't just chose for you. I wanted to see if my predictions about you, your personalities, and your reasons for coming were correct, and it seems I have chosen right for my apprentices. Usually each god would apprentice their own, but that is not an option. But I am enlisting help." He motioned to the trees, where A wildclaw that was very blue and energetic moved into the clearing once everyone had chosen.
"Hi! My name is Flash, and I'm your first surprise lesson! Restrain me in any way you chose, but only using abilities you feel are part of the name you chose. This is a test to see if you chose right." He roughly jerked his claws in a sweeping motion, and an apprentice that had already been sneaking up to attack him was sent flying.
"One at a time please! And no maiming or injuring, only restraint. But if you do hurt me or break any rules, Sholka, Myself, or Lindarin reserve the right to retaliate."
Sholka to emphasis this rule growled warning from his place along the edge of the clearing. Everyone got the picture real fast. One by one they did as asked, a nocturne named Ocean using cuffs and a globe of water Or Gloria simply booped him on the nose and asked him nicely to sit. Some were a lot rougher, using more violent magic to try and corner Flash but that never seemed to work for the Wildclaw with endless energy and speed.
Each dragon slowly came to terms with exactly what they were learning, as they learned more about themselves and each other. A few dragons had not yet gone, and didn't want to be next, still no sure themselves of what to do. Lindarin winked at Dash from behind his mask with a smile. He knew Dash already had a taste, and it would make it easier for him if he already knew what was up.

Dash nodded to Lindarin in a quick response to his playful wink, then his attention went right back to the struggle to restrain Flash. He watched closely as each member took, or didn't take, a turn. He being among those that stood back. Honestly, he had only one way to harmlessly restrain the Wildclaw. Not that he expected it to fare any better then the others right now. No, he highly doubted their opponent would be restrained without the group working together.
But that wasn't the point of the exercise, he knew. It was to discover and understand what each student was capable of. Dash shifted his attention back to Lindarin. He should know, he considered, was this for him, or for us?

Lindarin smiled at them all encouragingly, until there was two dragons left, Dash and Mulberry, who didn't want to go because he was so small compared to Flash. Chromos had been able to camouflage himself against the Wildclaw, but he was too brightly colored to hide like that. Lindarin's smile got wider as he thought of something.
"Someone already knows the big secret before you Mulberry. But there's a chance to learn more before they do."
The tiny Fae's eyes lit up like a million stars as he looked at the mysterious purple coatl, before they focused on Flash. While the Wildclaw was distracted, Mulberry rushed him with speed, striking the side of his head to stun and confuse him before using his tiny fae speed to out manuver and confuse him to the point he had to sit down because fast moving bright colors was bad.
Lindarin nodded and motioned for him to join the others a moment while Flash tried not to be too sick, and Gloria tried to make him drink water, which he refused. It was incredibly funny to watch the two bicker over water.
A white spiral with vivd purple eyes whispered something to Lindarin.
"It seems since Flash is temporarily out of commission. Dash, you might have to be tested against James here, my first apprentice. You have the choice of either, which ever you feel would be better suited. If any others would like to go again against James, feel free over in the next clearing. James has different rules. Hitting, scratching and mild biting are permitted, so the more melee orientated can have a bit more leeway."
He nodded before looking at Dash.
"Given the reasons you're here are very different, after this task you can come and talk to me. If you want, you can talk to Sholka and the others as well for your research."

Hitting, scratching and mild biting are permitted, so the more melee orientated can have a bit more leeway."
He nodded before looking at Dash.
"Given the reasons you're here are very different, after this task you can come and talk to me. If you want, you can talk to Sholka and the others as well for your research."
Dash wasn't sure about the first apprentice, but seeing as his first opponent was now stunned he supposed it would be best to go up against James-- and pray he didn't come out with any more scars. "I can go up against James," he said softly and with a great deal of trepidation rattling his voice. Confrontation like this was simply not his forte.
The Wildclaw was dangerously skilled, what the other was capable of there was no telling. As he was making his way to the next clearing he slipped his paw under his cloak to grasp at his protective charm. It was the only thing he had for this sort of challenge; he hoped it worked. The sooner this was done, the sooner he could get to what he really wanted. Questions.
He paused in the clearing, watching and waiting as others joined them. He would be fine with them starting this challenge.
Sorry for the delay. I actually have some free time now, so I should be able to keep up =)

James's vivid purple eyes softened as he absorbed everything about Dash he would need to know though a brief glance.
"I failed my first test you know? Nocturnes are the worst at direct confrontation. This test isn't about wining or loosing. He didn't expect half the kids to pass. It's about the dedication and the willingness to go onward against ones weakness, which you clearly passed. But can you overcome them? I use magic. Your goal is to either restrain me, make it so I can no longer retaliate, or steal my belt. Are you ready? You'll get a taste of what Lindascran-Fel will teach you."
He smiled as he loosely coiled, it was a deceiving smile, but still one that showed any friend of Lindarin would be safe.
"You may have the first move."
Thats fine! I don't mind waiting :) You don't have to apologize for any delays, I know you have a lot on your plate.
