He smiled a bit and looked to the boy in his arms, "It's alright. I told you, you're rambling is cute." Grinning as he walked into a room with several broken bottles of different chemicals he was glad to see some gauze and other medical supplies.
Setting Oliver down on one of the tables he found a few useful things before beginning to wrap the boys ankle as best he could to help with the pain. Though grumbling a bit when he wasn't certain how to do something.

Oliver smiled back, shrugging off his apology. He was blushing a bit, and he was unable to hide it. He felt the familiar heat rise in his cheeks as he glanced to the side, receiving that strange feeling behind his eyes. He soon found himself inside of a room with several broken bottles, shards of glass all over the place, those bottles having been filled of different chemicals. He glanced around the room, trying to spot the gauze that Kodi had managed to spot.
He winced a little as he was set down on a table, trying to push back horrible, horrible memories. He wasn't strapped down or restrained, nor was he surrounded by the people wearing white coats all the time, so it wasn't too bad. He did feel more pain in his ankle, which was the opposite of pleasant. He waited for the treatment to begin, trying not to imagine how painful it could be.
He stared up at the ceiling as Kodi began to work on him. He felt his ankle being wrapped, holding his breath before trying to control his breathing, just so he wouldn't let out a noise of pain or discomfort. He didn't want to break Kodi's concentration. However, when he heard him grumbling a bit, he lifted his head up to look at him, seeing his ankle out of the corner of his eye. He knew what he did to it, and he had an idea of what needed to be done. He felt a little nervous about telling Kodi what to do, especially when he was already helping him out.
"I-I think you'll need to set it," he offered, looking directly at Kodi for a moment before glancing away and slowly lowering his head back on the table. "It's..." He inhaled quietly, yet sharply, as more pain disrupted his voice. He took a deep breath, allowing himself to continue. "...It's gonna hurt like hell, but I've... well..." He paused, the reason for this something other than current pain. He suddenly felt a dull sensation in his back, directly where his wings sprouted from. He shivered and closed his eyes. "I've been through worse," he finished, managing a slightly sad grin, though, he hadn't meant for it to reflect sadness.

"I-I didn't wanna cause you anymore pain....I've had them set my sprains and even breaks before. I don't know what painkillers we can still take being not human...." He looked up slightly to show his eyes. They were filled with concern for the boy, covering his previous anger as he watched him for a moment.
"If you prefer I set it, I will. . .but it won't be pleasant...." He couldn't hide the faint whine in the back of his throat at the idea of hurting his new friend. His eyes seeming to shine a bit as if they were growing wet.

Oliver opened his eyes when he heard Kodi's reply. He could tell that he was rather unwilling to hurt him further. However, that didn't really matter compared to what would happen if it wasn't set. The pain would only worsen, and his recovery time would be longer than if he received the painful, yet helpful treatment. He glanced to the side, as if looking for anything resembling painkillers. However, Kodi had a strong point. They weren’t exactly human anymore.
He lifted his head up to meet the other boy's eyes, even if the sensation creeped behind them once more. He could see them shining a little, and he instantly felt saddened himself. He decided to suppress the pain, putting considerable inner effort to push it down. He gave the boy a soft, comforting smile, masking the pain in his injury. He almost tapped the table he was resting on top of, simply because he felt the urge to take his hand. He blushed inwardly, soon focusing on the one in front of him.
"Kodi..." he murmured, breathing softly. He had a small, comforting light in his eyes, the opposite to when he was first shoved down onto one of these tables. "I... won't pretend that it won't hurt... but the pain won't last as long as if I don't have it set. Kodi, you will not hurt me. I will not scream, I can take it. You're helping me by doing this... and I trust you." He slowly lowered his head back to the table, closing his eyes. "Ready when you are, Doc," he commented, his comforting smile growing a little.

He whined softly but nodded. Thinking for a moment as he tried to remember what had been done to him the last time he'd had anything set from injury.
Hesitating a moment upon remembering, he looked at the other boy. He moved around for a moment to get a few other useful things from he room before walking back to the boy and starting. His ear laid back and he whined softly in the back of his throat as if he were a scolded dog.

Oliver was relieved when Kodi nodded, but he was still a bit sad about the fact that he had to make him do this. Well, he wasn't exactly forcing him to help him, but he was encouraging him to. It was all because he had to get his ankle tangled up in scattered wires. Speaking of which, he began thinking about those papers. The ones he tried to gather up, only to leave them behind in the end. He had read enough, and even though he trusted Kodi, he didn't really want him to see any of it.
I'm not an orphan... I'm not...
He waited for Kodi to gather some more useful things scattered around the room before closing his eyes and fully relaxing his body, trying not to think about the upcoming pain. He knew that if he thought about it too hard, he would only make things worse for himself and Kodi. As his treatment began, he did his best to keep a calm composure, leaning his head to the side to look at Kodi. He noticed how the boy's ears were lowered, as if he was being scolded. The sight honestly made him want to cry.
"Kodi..." he whispered worriedly. He wanted to help him. He couldn't just lay here and let this mood take hold of his friend any longer. He felt butterflies in his stomach before he even opened his mouth. He wasn't sure if this suggestion was going to work, but he had to offer something. "D-Do you want to talk about something?" he offered awkwardly, managing to talk through the pain. He did tell himself that he was going to grin and bear it, after all. "It can be anything you want... it usually helps to talk... to talk about something you like talking about... doesn't it?"

Kodi let his eyes flicker up to the boys face for a moment at the sound of his name. His eyes filled with sorrow as he looked back to what he was doing. "I...I'm fine. T-talking isn't good to me." He sighed softly, sounding more like a whine than anything as he hurried to finish.
After a few minutes he slowly moved back. Grateful to be done as he moved to sit against the wall by the door. His legs pulled up and his arms round them. He effectively curled himself into a ball, hiding his face partially. His tail curled half round him as he whined softly.

Oliver felt a nervous feeling of embarrassment forming in his chest as Kodi answered him. Talking helped him, but it didn't help Kodi, and if that was so, then he would oblige. Though, the boy didn't sound fine, despite him saying he was fine. Ollie didn't speak again during the rest of the treatment, worried that if he tried, he would accidentally let out a yell of pain. He did close his eyes, trying not to imagine what was actually going on with his ankle when it was set.
He felt spikes of pain shooting up his entire leg, leaving an uncomfortable, tingling sensation to settle there. He was glad it wasn't numbing, because numbing never really worked for him. No matter what, he would always still feel pain, despite the numbing. He took shuddering breaths, trying to control them, yet he wasn't doing the best job.
He kept his eyes closed a few minutes after it was done, allowing the pain to simmer and settle down as he remained unmoving. He tried to relax his mind, fighting back against memories of scientists beginning to surface as he lay on the table. They would've been more powerful if he were forced down onto the table, for he was finally beginning to fully remember what he was like when he was first brought here.
Ouch... let's just say I wasn't myself...
With that thought surfacing in his mind, he allowed a few of the restored memories to take form behind his closed eyelids, erasing the darkness blanketing his vision. He could almost hear every screech he let out; angry, fearful, and in pain. He could even almost hear a cry of pain coming from one of the scientists when he managed to hurt them, thrashing and screeching before a needle slid in, relaxing his muscles against his will.
I remember... I was ferocious.
Vicious.
Dangerous.
He heard whining nearby, and that snapped him out of everything he was seeing while his eyes were closed. He finally opened them, sitting up immediately, despite the pain in his leg. He looked over at the door to see Kodi sitting by it, his face partially covered. He was practically curled into a ball over there, looking miserable. Guilt flooded Ollie, berating him for even putting them in this situation to begin with. He ran a hand through his curly hair, looking at Kodi with guilt in his eyes.
"...I'm sorry, Kodi," he murmured, looking down at the ground before swinging his legs over the edge of the table, refraining from wincing at the pain. He could already feel his ankle swelling up underneath his jeans, and the pain was filling his leg, not just his ankle. Nonetheless, he slowly eased himself off of the table, keeping a hand on it to hold himself up. He glanced up at Kodi, trying to decide whether or not he should go over to him and help. After looking around the room, he decided that his friend was more important than anything else, including himself.
He waited a moment before limping towards the door, guilt-filled eyes trained on Kodi. He leaned against the wall and slid down to sit next to his friend, unsure if he would be welcome at the moment. He had one knee held close to his chest, while the other leg was stretched out with little to no pressure on it, including the set ankle. He hesitated to say anything at first, but he soon decided to speak after softly placing a hand on the boy's shoulder.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered, patting his shoulder gently. "Thank you for helping me, Kodi. It doesn't hurt as b-bad as you think... are y-you okay...? We c-can get out of here soon, and then we c-can see the outside world for ourselves, you know... see how much has changed, live free... that kind of thing... wouldn't you love that? Wouldn't you...?" He spoke quietly, eventually moving his hand from Kodi's shoulder to wrap around his waist.
"I know talking doesn't help you, but I'll be here for you as long as I need to be. I'll stay here, by your side, no matter what... but if you wish to be left alone, I'll... I'll concede. Whatever I need to do to help you, I will do."

Kodi shook his head very slowly. "Y-you have no reason to be sorry... I just hate causing people pain when it can be prevented." He whined a bit at mention of the outside world, "We...we can never live free. We'd never be accepted around humans. We're just creatures now."
Gently pushing away from him, he pushed the boys hand from his waist and stood up. "All we have is this stupid facility. Don't you know what would happen to us if people saw us? We'd be used for more experiments, or maybe we'd just be put down because we're too dangerous." He practically growled the words as he moved towards the door.

Oliver's gaze followed Kodi as he gently pushed him away. He felt a little hurt, but he hid it well, feeling concerned for the other boy instead. It was Ollie's fault for hurting his own ankle. If he hadn't been in such a rush, he would've been able to pay attention to his surroundings, and he would've been able to avoid twisting it and causing himself more pain.
He found himself wincing a little when he was presented the harsh reality of their situation. He was a fool to suggest living free lives in the outside world. They couldn't really do that when it was full of people who wanted to hurt and experiment on them. However, he wasn't sure if that was the case. He had lost track of how much time had passed since his capture. It had to have been at least a year, if not a couple years. After all, the last memory he had of the outside world was living in a foster home, and that was when he was a year or two younger. He couldn't exactly remember.
But how could the world have changed in that amount of time?
"Y-Yeah... but... but..." He was grasping for straws, whispering with uncertainty and remaining on the floor. "I mean... th-the world could've changed, maybe there aren't as many humans as there were before...? There has to be a reason for the facility being abandoned..." He paused for a moment, glancing at his surroundings. "Yeah... it couldn't have just been abandoned for nothing, right...? W-We can't just stay here... we'll starve to death... there has to be a way..." His face reddened a little in embarrassment, as he was indeed stretching for answers as to what they were supposed to do. He didn't want to rot in this place, that was for sure.
Am I really that dangerous?...Am I?
