@InfinityAbyss here she is!
Name: Narduka
Age: 42 (average lifespan around 120)
Gender: Female
Species: Original dragon-like species, name pending (Sheerwing? Seaweaver?)
Personality:Her species are social and gather in large numbers for breeding, but have a loose idea of family and home and are equally inclined to group with other species as their own. She's content to keep humans for company, and will allow children to climb all over her while she's in their cities. She'd probably tolerate a rider, but the lack of a convenient place to put a saddle has prevented people from attempting to ride her thus far.

Intelligent as human, but thinks differently than a person would and has slightly different values. She can understand human words that are specifically taught to her and distinguish tones, but the lack of a basis in grammar makes it hard for her to follow full conversations.
Her own kind doesn't use language as much as a complex system of calls and gestures whose rough meaning changes from context. Her best attempt at speaking human words is only a rough imitation, so that many have difficulty understanding the words and mistake her for merely cawing at them.
Her vocals are varied but typically high-pitched, include nasal clicking, shrieks, churrs, various caws, and bird-like singing.

She has an instinctive faith in the sea guardians, being essentially a sea creature herself, and takes care to respect the oceans outside of the fish she needs for food. Narduka will visit shrines where they exist, but typically lacks any offerings she thinks worth leaving. Her prayers have never been personally answered, but she accepts this as the gaurdians merely wanting her to solve her problems on her own.

Appearance: (will be drawing her when I have the time, so expect a visual ref to come later) Narduka is heavily dolphin-based with a touch of sheerwater to make her flight-worthy. Species is still under development.

Long, streamlined body built to move quickly both in sea and sky. Skin is a muted blueish color- smooth and blubbery like a dolphin's.
End of tail is divided into flat frills that double as a tail fin underwater and steering in flight. Both tail and head are adorned with colorful membranes that can be flattened and are typically raised to communicate emotions.
She's around 5 feet at the shoulder, but is much longer and her long neck adds more height when held upright.

Wings are long and narrow, built of thin segments of cartilage. She can glide long distances and cut tight turns shearwater-style; her wings can be used to hold herself up on land or as flippers underwater, but usually they're flattened against her sides when it in use.
No forelegs, only birdlike hindquarters with dull talons for clinging to rocks.

Eyes are sensitive and good at distinguishing light and movement, but are most effective when used in conjunction with her hearing. Alongside eardrums she has a melon (fatty tissue that dolphins and relatives use for a form of echolocation) that give her an acute sense of her surroundings. She has a nose, but her sense of smell isn't much stronger than human's, it's used mostly for breathing and closes completely while underwater. Most of her face is cut into a bony jaw with small, sharp teeth for grasping fish.

Bio: Narduka set out in her own as soon as she was old enough to take care of herself, as is common among her kind. She learned early on that humans tolerated her lingering on their islands if she contributed to the community. With all the sea monsters it's much safer for a lone creature to sleep on land than on the water, so she made a place for herself carrying messages, fishing, and doing any odd jobs that made use of her greater strength and flight.

Narduka fights well when whatever turtle island she currently resides on is attacked by raiders, being protective of her "flock", but lacks talons or teeth appropriate for attacking beasts much larger than herself. Because of this some cities equip her with talon sheathes or other crafted weapons during battle. She's still wary of sea monsters, as her kind would normally flee from anything larger than themselves, but doesn't like letting others face all the danger without her.

Extras:. Feel free to ask me any questions about her and I'll do my best to answer! Past relationships with human characters are welcome and if anyone is interested in having a friendship with her I'd gladly work out the specifics with you.

Edit: FR apparently doesn't allow the accent mark I was trying to use, so replaced the letter in her name with normal u's

@InsanityAbyss @SteampunkGriffin ((Finally finished this thing!))

Name: Kaliko
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Species: Human (raider)
Personality: Of the opinion that people in general hide the truth and are more often than not untrustworthy, Kaliko is quick to judge a person but slow to form her full opinion of them.
Having been at sea most of her life, she has had many a deadly encounter with sea-monsters, but oddly doesn’t hold a grudge against them. Should one attack her ship she’d gladly help tear it apart, but underneath has a quiet respect and admiration for them- they’re freer than humans, their intentions simpler. Keeps running journal of places she’s been and creatures she encounters-penmanship is loose from a limited education, but is augmented by numerous drawings. Like most raiders Kaliko doesn't pray to or actively belief in sea guardians, but believes there is a force of power out there, just not none that has any reason to care about human lives. Above all else she cares about her freedom and can’t stand being caged or held back; rules are made to be broken where she’s concerned. Anything but a leader, prefers to get things done herself, heedless of the danger to herself.

Appearance: Around 5’3” and lean, with a number of minor scars from part battles. Face is framed by dark, unruly hair, which often tied back with stray cord when working. Features are angular and expressive, with sharp green eyes. Despite her expressive nature, she tends to keep her thoughts to herself and her eyes take on a stony look even when smiling, so it's hard to read her true intentions.
Clothing is loose but well fitting, which leaves room for many hidden pockets. Has both a belt and shoulder strap riddled with bags of all manner of knick knacks, including hidden knives, smooth stones, hemp cords, and trinkets she finds. She wears a few pieces of mismatched leather armor for protection, bt like most of her possessions is built from what she finds on the go and makes no cohesive set.

Weapon(s) of choice:
  • sword (one-handed, likely a sabre), simple but well-maintained
  • assorted daggers (takes them wherever she finds them, so varying quality)
  • Sling (the kind that's swung in a circle, requires a lot of space and skill, but can be just as deadly as a bow; makes new slings in her free time, so that she has a number of sizes to choose from, and will occasionally wear them like jewelry or to tie back loose hair/clothing)

Bio:
Kaliko’s memories of her early childhood are vague. She was a wild child, the sort who's always running off to explore and getting into trouble. Raiders attacked her Aspidochelone when she was still fairly young, a child of seven; she had been out exploring at the time and when returns home her family were nowhere to be found. The heads of the town ignored her pleas to search for them, convinced they had more important matters at hand than finding villagers who were likely already dead. So instead a rather distressed Kaliko slips away and, being fairly clever even at that age, manages to stow away on one of the raider’s ships in hope to get a lead. Its several weeks before they discover their fierce little passenger, and instead of getting rid of her they decide to make use of her apparent talent by training her to take care of the ship and later to fight. In this manner she grows up in the manner of raiders despite being born and initially raised on the back of an Aspidochelone. Kaliko retained her wildness as she grew up and thus loves to adventure of her new life, but had her trust in other people significantly damaged when she was seven, and thus has never really called herself one of the raiders.

She never did find her family, but as the years went by she stopped worrying about it. She’d found a new family in the sea and sky and the sound wooden beams creaking below. It was enough for her. Having formed a habit of finding work on other ships before roots could grow where she is, Kaliko heard word of Mayze being people to man her new ship and decided to take up a place among them. Her new captain would be younger than her herself, but Kaliko didn’t particularly care so long as someone competent was calling the shots.

Extras:
  • member of Mayze’s crew, most likely adores Rubert
  • I didn’t intend for Narduka’s species to have a dragon-rider relationship with humans when I was designing her (her flight, after all, is very erratic and include underwater dives), but inevitably started to wonder what would happen- ‘Ko was made to be crazy enough to try it
