Name: Nautilus
Age: Ancient
Gender: Male
Species: Sea Guardian (Arctic)
Personality:
Nautilus appears to be a very prideful being, holding an air about him of something that would be akin to royalty. This pride does not directly come from himself, more so that he takes pride in what he is, his duties, and his kin. He deeply respects his sibling guardians and treats them with the respect he hopes that they would show him in return. Although, that isn't to say that he won't disagree with them, but he will make sure it is tactful and not just flat out saying that they are wrong. Which continues into him typically active very polite and proper when interacting with others. Typically, that only really includes his fellow sea guardians but there is the occasional human as well. As he takes pride in what he does, Nautilus honors all prayers for protection made as his shrines and looks upon those who honor his name with their prayers with compassion, as in it wouldn't be unusual for him to save someone who might have fallen onto the freezing water and make sure they are safe. However, it is also do to his prideful streak that he tends to be merciless of those who foolishly try to target those who worship him or those who disrespect him by traveling his sea. A sea monster with a single, enormous bite taken out of it would be a sign of this as well as a raider ship suddenly being trapped in the ice. While he is proud of what he is, Nautilus does have a fascination with humans and their culture. He actually has a collections of things he has found on beaches or in the water from shipwrecks, some of which he most likely caused, that are human-made goods and trinkets. It's a way he passes the eons, or that's how he plays it off if someone asks him about it.
Appearance:
Nautilus will appear in his sea monster form as an enormous, stark white shark. His dorsal fin and back breaking the water would typically be described as a massive, oddly-shaped, iceberg from a distance. As sharks go, he rather resembles a Great White Shark in form. Only much, much larger. He uses this form while traveling or when taking down an enemy, but he tends to favor his human form in more casual times and on the rare occasion he meets a human. In his human form, Nautilus is rather tall at 6'0" and fit, but not enough to look bulky. His hair is completely white and he keeps it pretty short. Matching his hair color, his skin is almost deathly pale, almost like he shouldn't be alive. However, his eyes are pure black, like those of a shark and tend to stand out against his pale features. Even in his human form, Nautilus has sharp teeth, although they aren't as drastic as in his shark form. When he converses with humans, he will often times cover his mouth with the back of his hand while talking, as to not alarm them. The clothing he wears varies but it rarely seems like what a normal human would wear in such a cold climate. It resembles the quality and appearance of human nobility, typically colored in shades of light blue and light purple hues.
Bio:
Nautilus was created fourth out of the Sea Guardians and given the task of safeguarding the Arctic Ocean. Being the guardian of one of the least traveled and least populated area, his name is not spoken very much among those outside of those who live near the ocean itself. Due to this, he tends to be very protective of the few that do worship him and those that worship him hold him in high reverence because of the dangerous nature of the waters. It would not be uncommon to see carvings made of light wood or white stone depicting a shark throughout the area incorporated into shrines, jewelry, and artwork. These depictions of him along with a large fish from the daily catch are common things that people will leave at his shrines. Also because of him not having the most populated area, he does get bored pretty easily. So, he is much more likely to get involved in the affairs of humans whenever he can; destroying those who encroached on his territory or harmed his people and saving those who ask for his help.
When his brother perished, Nautilus became a bit more protective of his siblings. He kept a bit more of an eye on them, not wanting to lose any other family member to whatever had killed their brother. The death of his brother was seen as a direct insult to his family as a whole, and he will support any who wish to take down whatever killed Mathias. Towards the newest guardian, he will seem a bit...cold. Especially, if they do something that he finds to be harmful to the respect the older guardians deserve.
Extras:
- Uses ice magic. Human form mainly uses magic while his sea monster form uses mainly brute strength.
Name: Blaen Vigil
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Personality:
Blaen is very blunt, letting you know exactly how he feels without hiding anything. Even though he is mute, he still has a knack for getting his message across either through gestures, writing it down, or just by the look on his face. As you can imagine, he isn't the best at diplomacy but he tends to leave such politics to the diplomats. He appreciates those who are direct with him as well and doing so will grant you a fair amount of respect from him. In fact, if you failed him and told him the truth, be would actually be less angry then if you had tried to lie to him. So long as you acknowledge your mistakes from the failure and don't just make excuses, that is. That is how he would react to failing someone and he expects the same from others. To those under his command, he is fair yet tough. Success is rewarded, failure is acknowledged, and betrayal is punished. He values strength, loyalty, and conviction most in a person. Quite the clever person, not just in strategy but just normally, he came up with a way to overcome his being mute by teaching his men a variety of horn signals to direct them in combat without needing a voice. As a commander, he is very loyal to the royal family, but he wouldn't support them if he felt as though they were doing something wrong.
Appearance:
Blaen is a tall man at 6'2" with broad shoulders and very muscular from his daily training. His hair is cut short, as to not get in the way while he fights, and dark brown. His skin is lightly tanned from his time spent traveling, training, and working in the outdoors. It is adorned with many scars that almost seem like badges of honor to him; proof that he fought in those battles and lived because of the strength he possesses. Most notably is a ragged scar that runs from one side of his neck around the front to the other side. Although he doesn't try to hide the it, he won't speak of how he obtained the wound, it obviously was inflicted by another person. His eyes are a cold, almost startling, icy blue color which tend to make him seem even more intimidating than he already is. He chooses to wear the helm only when necessary. An intimidating greatsword is usually sheathed at his back.
Bio:
Blaen was born to a peasant family in another country (not the main kingdom in the roleplay). The life was sometimes hard, but both his mother and father were kind and took good care of him. However, in his mid teen years, the king's conscription efforts found both him and his father, forcing them both into the army and sending them off to war. Honestly, he didn't mind a soldier's life too much. It was the whole forced into it that didn't set well with him. But he soon became rather skilled with a blade, eventually building up enough muscle to wield a greatsword with ease. A couple years passed and, during a battle, Blaen saw his father struck down by one of their own commanding officers. As he listened in, he found that it was an attempt to keep them men on guard and wanting vengeance by making it seem like the enemy had used a cowardly tactic of planting an assassin in their midst. Needless to say, it didn't take him long to make an attempt to get as far away from there as possible. So, still grieving the loss of his father, Blaen abandoned the company he was in and just kept running.
Months pasted, but eventually he found work wherever he could as he drifted from town to town. Until one day, he happened upon a group of what looked to be mercenaries. The chance meeting ended with him becoming a member of the Bloodscale Marauders. They were a decent band of mercenaries and the leader kept them honorable. They were a group of people who fought well and lived every day as well as they could, not caring if the next would be their last. He loved the life in the band of mercenaries and two years went by and saw Blaen taking the place of second in command. However, it wasn't a year later that tragedy struck once more. A member of the Marauders that Blaen trusted asked him to go out on a scouting mission with him and, while his back was turned, sought to end him with a blade across his throat and left him there to bleed out. Not quite dead, Blaen had willed himself to crawl back to camp. Luckily, some of his fellow mercenaries came looking for him and quickly brought him back to receive medical attention. When he awoke several days later, the man was faced with the fact that there had been an ambush that had attacked the main group of the Marauders and the leader as well as many other had fallen in the defense of the rest of the group. As second in command, Blaen was made the leader of the Bloodscale Marauders.
He has since served as a strict but fair leader to the mercenaries, demanding loyalty above all else. His men tend to think of him almost like a strict but well meaning father and he would give his life for any of them, just like they would for him or for each other. After the attack on him, he was rendered mute, but wouldn't let it stop him. Eventually, he came up with the idea of a system of horn trumpets that would indicate how he wanted his troops to move, which could easily be heard throughout the battlefield. It took a while, but he patiently taught it to all of his men and the new system seemed to work. Thanks to him, they gained a reputation big enough for the kingdom of (whatever the name of the main kingdom is) to hired them. Eventually, Blaen was offered a position in its standing army and, after thinking it over for a long time and making sure it was alright with his men, he joined the royal army along with his men.
Extras:
- Very skilled with a greatsword but has no talent with magic
- As he is particularly wary of the ocean, not enough to cripple him while traveling but enough to leave him feeling uneasy, Blaen wears a necklace depicting the likeness of Wyvera as to helps him feel more secure when he does have to travel by sea.
