I don't think so. It looks good!

On to Setting:
The island is a large crescent moon shape. It had a very tall jagged peak at the center and a cave in the rounded shape of it.
The main cove created by the island's shape is full of reef and colorful fish. The land is six to eight feet deep for miles, making mermaid and shark ideal. The corral creates a series of very small caves in which the sirens can lurk.
There is a deep cave in the back of the arch of the island. This is an excellent place for the sirens because just beyond that is extremely deep. It's a large whirlpool so ships avoid it, when they know better. When they don't and try to moor their, the siren(s) can gorge themselves on the sailors on board.
The rest of the island is covered by trees. The food there is toxic to humans and the other things that lurk their also feast on flesh. There is only predators on the land.
At the highest point of the jagged mountain is a cave. Inside is a place to collect fresh water from storm rains and a place to take shelter from any and all manner of creatures, as long as you're small enough to get in of course. The cannibals are not.
Somewhere in the forest is a large pond of fresh water. It is surrounded on all sides by cannibals and rocky cliffs. It is a place to avoid. It's easy to tell, the earth there is stained red with years of bloodshed.
(Did I leave anything out I should add?))

I think everything looks good for now, we can add more stuff throughout the RP?
I think everything looks good for now, we can add more stuff throughout the RP?
Why me? Of every living soul on that pirate vessel, I honestly had the least blood on my hands. Most of it accidental.
"So, uh, w-why the heads?" I tried to avoid catching a whiff of the rotten flesh. The admiral had a pristine white handkerchief over his nose, like it might help, "They're mermaid heads. Keeps the beasts away just long enough for us to be in, and back out."
"H-How'd you even catch one? Or were they already dead on the beach?" I had only ever known mermaids to lure men, not the other way around. Killing them was almost impossible. The admiral smiled, "Sacrificing one god forsaken soul as bait, you can scoop them up in a next. Cannons, I've found, are enough to break their strong bones."
We were nearing the cove of the island. I glared, "You're just as vicious as the pirate you kill. No, I daresay you're worse." I bare my teeth at him. He brought the two sailors to a stop before grabbing the rope around my neck, jerking me out of my seat nearer his face, "And who are you to make such a judgement."
I thought nearly drowning was the scariest thing that had ever happened in my life. Hearing the trills of what I knew had to be mermaids while I sunk to the bottom, chained to a cannonball, had to beat that. My heart began to drown out all else.
(( This first post is long, the ones following it won't be. Don't feel obliged to match the length))

((Oh, can I add in that Sirens and Mermaids have different language from humans? Like some of them can learn the human's language by being around them long enough and all. I'm still in debate whether Sirens and Mermaids should have the same language, or they're different from each other too? If you're up for that idea?))

(( I like it. Each one having their own language. Then there's my character sitting there going: I'm not human either... XD ))
((Cool ^^ To save the trouble for everyone else, maybe use "italic" while they're talking in a different language? And well your character lives with the humans.. so xD))

Below the vessel, there was a small group of mermaids circling it, it was Saber's group and they were out for a feast. They had been tailing the ship for days, observing and coming up with their own tactics to snatch the sailors on the ship. Though there was one thing that caught their gaze the most, their own kin's severed heads. It was an unfortunate sight, really, Saber almost felt bad for the one hunting party that had gone wrong.
The group didn't exactly recognized them, the ocean was too big to ever have the chance to run into familiar faces "Be cautious, these land dwellers are the more vicious ones." She instructed her teammates, as they nodded and began to scattered around the area. Being the only Sharkmaid around means that she'll have to be the muscle of the group, while the others lure the men in, she'd deliver the killing blow.
As the others went about to do their own things, Saber lurked around, though there was a disturbance in the water that caught her attention, she turned her head to the source of the sound and swam over to the movements that it had created. it turned out to be another land dweller, only that this one seemed to be chained into an object that made it impossible to escape. It made Saber looked in confusion, were all of these land dwellers willing to kill their own kin too? They were more barbaric than she anticipated.
Though a loud 'BANG' sound came from above the surface caught her attention, her teammates had already start doing their things and attack the ship. Saber whipped her head around, she'd have no business with this land dweller or whatever sort, she should go help her own kin instead, but as she examined their face closer, there was just something that wouldn't allow her to let this creature to simply die here. Without second thought, she grabbed the land dweller, though the weight of the cannonball staggered her a little.
So she had to cut the connection between this land dweller and the object. The Sharkmaid swirled around and grabbed the chain, she stretched it as hard as she could and bite down onto it, successfully shattered the chain. She wrapped her arm around the land dweller's waist and hurried over to the cove, once near the currents of the waves she simply let go of the land dweller, letting the waves carried them into shores while Saber swam back to deal with the ones on the ship.

Had-Had that mermaid just, saved me? Or maybe she was putting me on the shore for later. They seemed distracted, I wans't about to wait around and find out.
I ran up the scalding sands to the shade of the forest where the ground was still rather warm. This heat would be the death of me, if the mermaids weren't.
Squinting to see through the thick haze of overwhelming heat, I could see the rowboat. How I hated that man. Loathing. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and tingle. There was no one else there, but a low imitation growl left my throat.
Almost as if on command, the small boat turned over and disappeared. But it wasn't enough. The civilized king's people. Ha! What was civilized in severing other's heads or stringing them up by their necks? Nothing. My gaze shifted to the ship which began to sway more and more until finally, it was on it's side.
Perhaps the mermaids would leave me alone then. They had easier prey. Speaking of prey, I needed food.
