.Lore.
"Paradise"
Spoken only in legend and fairy tale, Paradise appears on earth when the world is near death. It is hidden, and can only be found by wolves. Untouched by man's corruptive hand, it is said to be peaceful, bountiful with prey, so none may go hungry.

"Lunar Flowers."
The path to Paradise. They are a rare flower that only blooms during full moons. White as a star, with the sweetest smell known to mortals.

"Wolves."
It is said that wolves have long since been extinct. This has been a known fact for the past three hundred years. And yet, they have survived, by ways of old magic. Able to disguise themselves in a human form, via a form of mental magic, they are able to blend in with those who would harm them.
Wolves can communicate with each other through a form of telepathy. When disguised, they can speak aloud. When in their human guise, if someone who couldn't see past the magic touched the wolf, they would simply feel human. They can hold and use objects when disguised. Domestic dogs are unable to use this magic, due to their distance from actual wolf-blood. When a dog is given wolf's blood--be it injected, dripped into an open wound, or drank--they become "Wolf-Tainted," and are able to use the old magic.

"Wolf-Tainted."
The six dogs who escaped the Research Facility in Cloud City, now feel the urge to search for Paradise, and seek out the trail of Lunar Flowers. They still need the Flower Maiden as their guide. It's possibly something to do with the old magic that the original wolves used. It might be rejecting the domesticated blood, finding the dog unworthy. Stray dogs, who've never trusted humans, are more likely to survive a dose of raw wolf's blood, but it's no guarantee.
Wolf-Tainted dogs are able to use the telepathy and human disguise, and their bodies are greatly enhanced, allowing for massive jumps and faster running speeds. They are able to heal themselves when there is a full moon, as well.

"Paradise Seekers."
What wolves or dogs who search for Paradise are called. "Seekers of Paradise," is the phrase used to describe the first pack, in the Book of the Moon. The original pack consisted of four wolves, a White Wolf and his four followers, as well as a Flower Maiden, chased by the Black Wolf.

She has moderately thick, black fur with white underfur markings, and some tawny-brown highlights. Her eyes are copper brown. Her ears are sharp and pointed, and her tail naturally curls over her back. She has a faint scar on her left cheek, just under the far corner of her eye. Has more recent scars on her right hind calf. Not very large, but not unnoticeable. She wears a beige collar with a very light colored tan metal buckle. human l Five foot, three inches is no impressive height, but the resting, calm glare on Masika's face more then makes up for her size. She looks fairly Native American with some Asian blended in, with light tawny-brown skin and copper brown eyes. Her hair is a deep, charcoal black and is kept short but somewhat scraggily. Fairly thick hair, parted on the right, her bangs sometimes stray in front of her left eye. Eye brows are pretty avrage, if not a little fading at the ends. Nose is fairly small. Very faint scar just under her left eye, right on her cheekbone. Some more recent scars near her ankle. The other side of the room was lined with strange objects that she couldn't identify. All of them glass, and shiny. Everything gets... fuzzy, from there. When she woke, Masika was practically alone. Same room, but the metal tables were gone. So were the other dogs. She was in another cage, but this one was a bit larger then her previous one from before. It was only when she looked to the side, did she notice she was not alone. There was a massive, gray and white canine lying next to her, in a similar cage. It looked... sort of like her, but shaggier. More feral. It looked tired, too... dead tired. "So..." it spoke, voice rough. "You're the only one." Just a nod in reply, Masika unsure how to respond. The beast sighed slowly, lifting his head and looking at her directly. Sharp golden eyes, huge teeth. Something inside her chest began to ache in fear and understanding. She knew what this was, but couldn't find the word. The two stared at one another for a good long while, neither speaking. The beast laid his head back down, closing his eyes. Over time, the humans returned. Be it to refill the water dish and give the two canines real food, or go near the beast and go away with some red substance in a glass tube. Why... why were they taking the beast's blood...? Her answer came in the form of three more dogs. Memory flashing back, Masika was now an observer to the events that she'd went through. All though, these were much more tame, compared to her own ordeal. She figured that weeks, months, has passed since she came here. Dogs came and went, some stayed and were placed in cages next to hers. At last, after five other dogs were there, the beast spoke to Masika again. "Tainted," was all he growled to get her attention. "You were the first, and only one, to survive being given raw wolf's blood. You will lead the charge in two nights, and escape from here. I will help you." And that was all he said. Wolf's blood. Two nights passed, and Masika was awoken by the sound of metal being crushed, and heavy pawsteps. Her door opened, and before her stood the beast. He tore away the others' doors, before addressing them all. "Children of the moon, you are now part of me," he began. "Some hold less then others--" his gaze flicked to Masika for a brief second. "--but you are still part of me all the same. Wolf. You have been tainted with my blood, and now can use old tricks that I once relied upon. I will show you, but we haven't much time. Masika was unsure why she was told to stay. "You are the survivor," he growled. "Search for the trail of Lunar Flowers. Gather those who are willing to follow. But be wary, child of the moon... darkness will follow your pawsteps. Now run, you tainted beast... run!!" And run, she did. Catching up with the other five, sirens blaring and humans scrambling, Masika fleetingly recalled the way out. Charging ahead, she barreled down hallways and through rooms, unwittingly appearing as human to all who managed to catch a glimpse of her, and brought the five back out into the city. They split up, Masika's thoughts honing in on her old home. But when she arrived, she was met with tragedy. Mother was gone. Crows were flitting around the area, but there was no sign of anything else. Now, she roams the streets, prowling near her original home, and not straying far out of the radius she's established. Breed l Shikoku Ken
Appearance l Canine. | Human.
canine l A medium sized dog, Masi is roughly twenty one inches tall--little over a foot and half.
Dressed in an ash-gray hoodie and black, distressed jeans, and dark brown tie-sneakers, Masika's human form has no really fancy or overly complex clothing. The collar on her canine form translates onto her human form as well, as she can't take it off. She's grown oddly attached to it, as it's become kind of her signature "thing." It's much more loose on her human form, dangling a bit like a large necklace.

Name: Shisan {thirteen}
Age: 31 days
Gender: Agender {he/him}
Role: The Flower Maiden
Appearance: {x}
Shisan is 5'5", with light brown skin and a few, light scattered golden-brown freckles under his blind magenta eyes. His eyes are curved, prominent, and wide set. Shisan has shaggy, unkempt pale mint-blue hair that falls and curls into his round face and reaches his mid-neck. His body is thin and stereotypically androgynous looking.

Personality: {Developing}
Even in his first days, Shisan displayed a strong fear response to the sounds of alarms within the lab. No other emotional response has been recorded. Inwardly, Shisan is barely aware of the world around him but feels a great sense of purpose, urgency, and confusion.

Background:
The first stable Maiden created from the Wercklei Strain, Shisan's predecessors each withered by their 13th day. The Maidens replicated from the strain were all nicknamed after the number in various languages by some of the scientists and the successful Maiden ended up with a pinyin variant.

Shisan's first month of existence has been spent in a near comatose state, but he has demonstrated typical fear responses during alarm drills and has tilted his head down and then back up once.

Extra:
~ Has experienced a single "dream" involving the sensation of touching his feet against the side of his glass container. He cannot remember this dream or what the glass felt like.

Name: Alexei Smyrnoi ||"defender", "meek"||
Age: 40
Gender: Agender ||they/them||
Role: The Hunter
Appearance:
Alexei is 6' with pale skin that flushes pink around their nose, cheeks, and elbows, and thin, slick looking ash blond hair down to their shoulder blades that is usually kept in a neat, low ponytail. They have small sharp hazel-green eyes and wear massive, thickly framed glasses that they are nearly blind without. Gawky and scrawny, Alexei has horrible posture and always looks awkwardly out of place or as if they are about to apologize for something.

Despite their status as a criminal, Alexei manages to keep themself presentable and clean. They tend to wear longer, stiff collared coats, dark turtleneck sweaters, wellington style boots, relaxed pants, and fur lined aviator hats in muted, neutral colors.

Personality:
Intelligent and dedicated to the study of The Book of the Moon, Alexei is thorough and obsessive in anything that involves the text or the mythos that surrounds it. A shy, polite individual, Alexei always attempts to be as unobtrusive as possible even in matters that are of great importance to them (such as cleanliness and their studies). Alexei dislikes change immensely and rarely deviates from any established routine, even if it means more work for them.

Despite their sharp mind and set ways, Alexei does not always have the best common sense and will often attempt something without thinking their actions all the way through-- especially when placed in unfamiliar situations. They had difficulty forming relationships outside of work because little interests them besides The Book of the Moon, though they did have a small collection of (non-banned) classical music cassettes before they fled their old life.

Background:
Born to two adamant city-planners, Alexei was a child who was privileged with an upper class upbringing. While they were odd and mostly friendless during their childhood, their knack for picking up on ancient linguistic patterns was noted by one of their private tutors and reported to the ruling noble, Lord Lexor. Alexei and their parents were monitored closely following the report, and, when they turned 19, they were approached by a representative of Lord Kieron-- Lexor's newly instated nephew-- in hopes to recruit Alexei for an internship on a High Security project.

Alexei declined. Deciding instead to continue in the public education system where they hoped to study architecture as their parents had.

During the next two years, Alexei's parents had difficulty finding work and Alexei themself, despite devoting themself to their studies, barely passed their courses. Frustrated at what they assumed was just stupidity on their part, Alexei dropped out. Almost a day later, another representative appeared from Lord Kieron: Alexei's old tutor Robins. The woman convinced them to at least consider studying archives and ancient texts and, ashamed of their previous failures, Alexei quickly agreed.

Weeks later, Alexei laid their eyes on "The Book of the Moon" for the first time... At least, a page of it anyways.

With it's ragged edges and half of it lost to decay, the page had been written off as irrelevant gibberish, but once they had puzzled some the words out, Alexei was seemingly bewitched by it. Alexei couldn't stop thinking about it. They talked endlessly of their crude interpretations and then began arranging to gain access to other pages and passage to ruins where others had recorded similar writings etched into murals.

As their fascination grew, they found some of their more acclaimed colleagues had begun to watch them. And, eventually, they were given access to the wonder of all wonders: an intact copy of "The Book of the Moon". Unable to remove the book from it's designated area, Alexei spent the next 5 days in the research facility reading it as best they could and terrified if they left it, even for a second, it would disappear.

As the years went by, their interpretations became tighter, smoother. They began to piece together the "teachings" of the book. The creation of mankind. The pinnacle of enlightenment. The inevitability of death and the end of the world. And all, Alexei found, metaphorically packaged in the form of a wolf.

At least, that's what Alexei gathered.

They'd encountered mythology before but they found such certainty in "The Book of the Moon", they were half convinced it was true. Half. After all, wolves were a long extinct species and the creation of new life-- from flowers, no less-- was impossible. Still, they provided the necessary measurements for the latter when asked-- asking no questions in return.

Then, the day before they were to set out on their journey to a ruins site, Alexei had to take a detour back to their apartment. Despite living among the upper class, Alexei did not care for the noisy, jolting public transport and walked through some of the safer slums everyday. That day, though, they took alleyways. And in one alleyway they saw a man pinning a woman to the wall.

Alexei was no a brave individual but somehow they found themself in the middle, babbling something about "decency, and talking things out". That's when the woman stabbed them in the leg, split the contents of their wallet with the man, and left. Alexei somehow managed to make it home-- though couldn't quite remember how-- and began to attend to the wound.

Only to find deep, distinct bite marks where the knife wound should have been.

Alexei called into the facility the next day-- They were sick and couldn't make it. Tomorrow, maybe.

They sat alone in their apartment, watching the different shadows the sun cast through their blinds dance across the bite marks to the words they had read so many times "From the Great Spirit was born the Wolf and man became its messenger...". Wolves existed? The ones from "The Book of the Moon"? That hid in human shape? That would bring the world to an end with the help of a Flower Maiden?

The years they had spent interpreting and measuring and reporting... It all clicked in Alexei's head. Lord Kieron wanted a Maiden. To end the world and open Paradise.

The next day, Alexei returned to work and swiped a higher clearanced colleagues access materials. They managed to moved deeper into the facility undetected. A commotion had most security scrambling around on alert-- people yelling about "dogs" and "escape". Alexei didn't pay attention. They breached the massive doors gilded and etched with brilliant red-gold moons. And inside, they saw them.

Maidens. Lining the walls. Dying. Growing.

They knew they had to move quickly-- people had already noticed their presence. Alexei began to break what the could-- fidgeting with dials, pouring liquids onto consoles, and, as the scientists began to grab at them, beating their hands against the glass the held the Maidens, screaming, "I won't let you end it!"

They were eventually subdued and, headed, they knew, for a prison somewhere. It was illegal to poke your nose into a Noble's work involving heresy. The interrogation room was on the second story, the window was old and brittle in the cold, and Alexei fled-- The Book of the Moon, which they had stolen earlier in the day, tucked safely against their belly.

In the years that followed, Alexei managed to kill 5 suspected "wolves" by hiring the seemingly endless roughians the slums of Cloud City provide. They keep close eyes on the facility. For animals being brought in. For "wolves" trying to breach the stone and steel. They cannot let it end. They will not let the Wolves or The Maiden or the Nobles end it.

Name: Shisan {thirteen}
Age: 31 days
Gender: Agender {he/him}
Role: The Flower Maiden
Appearance: {x}

Personality: {Developing}

Name: Alexei Smyrnoi ||"defender", "meek"||
Age: 40
Gender: Agender ||they/them||
Role: The Hunter
