The small Snapper pushed herself up, the metal armour quietly clinking together. She pulled her wings closer to her, making sure the strong skin wouldn't get caught in the strong sudden breeze; immediately Nereid raised her nose, catching unusual smells in the air. The closest dragon must be a nocturne, a good one at that 'he or she must be sneaking through the grass, how else can I not hear them.'
wait, them.
Why'd she think them?
Nereid widened her eyes, of course! She didn't just smell a dragon, but animal like scent, hunt maybe? in reply to the discovery she began to walk more closer to the grassy floor, stepping lightly to the smells.
At home Nereid never got complimented on her great smelling techniques, she was mostly invisible, just another guard in the castle. But she was always set on showing them she was more, and this was another chance; if someone's head around here had a price for treason, she was going to catch them and show who she truly is.

Berylla kept her eyes on Echo, and the grass in front of her. She could sense there was a ravine nearby. If she ducked into that, she would be gone and out of sight. And none would be the wiser, she thought smugly. She crept along, snickering to herself. Not watching where she was going. Echo screeched at her from above, but it was too late. Berylla ran into something quite solid.
"Oof." She grunted, stumbling for a moment. A pretty pink snapper was before her, dressed in fine armour. Berylla blinked. She had to compose herself, or they would get suspicious.
"Oh, I did not see you there madam. I am terribly sorry, if I have been of any inconvenience to you. I will be happy to help you if that is the case." She said sweetly, eyes bright and wide. She dropped her hood, letting it hang about her neck. This was a particular favourite move of hers, as it played her off as submissive and innocent. The dumber, blundering little lady act had gotten her out of many tight situations.
Echo spiraled down to land atop her shoulder, eyeing the snapper cautiously. She clicked at Berylla, who rolled her eyes.
"Oh Brava dearest, you must wait! I'm sure father just got a bit lost, was all." She hissed to Echo. Echo was quick to pick up on Berylla's game, and stamped her foot, chattering even more.
"Brava! Do not speak that way of father." She snapped. Berylla turned back to the snapper and gave an apologetic smile.
"My apologies for the behaviour of my familiar, she is quite imprudent. We were on a trip with father but a gust of wind carried him away. He's not wind you see, not well accustomed to the ways of it all. If you happen to see a large grey nocturne looking for me, would you be able to tell him to go home, I plan on meeting him there." She said, batting her eyelids. Her voice was different than usual. During this entire encounter, she acted far airier, ditzy even. She enjoyed acting.

"Ooh. The little nocturne is on the move." She whispered to Reed, who had been following the bat with her eyes.

"I see that." Reed said dryly. Succumbing to the fact that Veniliat wasn't moving anytime soon, she settled on her shoulder as they watched (or in Veniliat's case, felt) the nocturne begin to slither away.

Veniliat sighed when she lost the nocturne to a particularly long patch of grass. To fling a gust of wind any more powerful than she was now would raise suspicion. Or, maybe not. It depended on how strong the wind was on any given day, and on who the dragon was. A wind clan elder, or someone particularly aware and in touch with wind magic like she was, would notice almost immediately. She had gotten reprimanded several times by Reed when she was caught eavesdropping on her when talking with someone of importance. Who these people were, she knew not. They were always surrounded by a shroud of something so strong and putrid that even she couldn't penetrate it. Well, at least not with any winds soft enough to go relatively unnoticed. On the steppes, it was nigh impossible to summon anything much more powerful than a sharp breeze without it getting noticed. However, this was much easier in places where the breezes turned into vortexes and the calming winds of the lowlands twisted and tumbled into cyclones that battered your wings and shook you so hard you passed out. Up there, it was a bit easier to spy. The only drawback was how easy it was for you to lose the wind and the sound it carried with it. Even the masters of wind manipulation had a hard time holding onto anything more than a wisp in the twisting crescendo and the highest peaks of the Reedcleft Acsent.

Raising a volley of miniscule wisps over the tall grass, she poked and prodded until she found the nocturne once again. This time, she was conversing with a snapper, looking like the very definition of a ditz. Little bits and pieces of conversation were brought to her by the breeze, not unlike how Reed plucked prey from the air and brought it back to eat upon her shoulders, or in her nest.

"Don't speak of father like..."

"Inconvenience to you.."

"She is quite imprudent.."

The tiny clusters of words were vague at best and absolute nonsense at worst, but she made due with what she could get. She could feel a strong burst of wind ripping through the Zepphyr steppes as she sat upon the branch of the cherry tree, it's pink blossoms tugged from their sockets and spread throughout the gentle valley as it neared. The faint scent of cherries brought a semblance of calm to the stretching plains, keeping little hatchlings asleep for a bit longer and dulling the senses of the prey in their burrows. The nocturne seemed to be extremely ditzy, Veniliat thought, milky eyes unknowingly staring into the pastel branches as she thought. But, why? She was utilizing evasion tactics that are extremely hard to execute without me knowing just a few minutes earlier. Those are things only the smartest and most experienced of dragons would know how to do.. Veniliat pondered this, churning over the words that she was able to pick up. Ah. She realized. They are deceiving the little snapper. Veniliat was intrigued and highly suspicious.

Reed just looked on in boredom, before leaping up into the air in a fantastic display of flight. She was tired of this eavesdropping, and was rather hungry. She scanned the wide grasslands in search of a snack.

Nereid was a bit surprised by bumping into the other so suddenly, she was definitely nocturne, with interesting clothes and a dark hood hanging lightly off her head. Nereid quickly raised herself higher to make herself look more intimidating; raising her wings and looking straight at the dragon with a unwavering glare, but was slightly distracted by the Nocturne talking so innocently. Along with the bat landing on her shoulder and chittering.
'this isn't right' everything in her head told her this really wasn't right, this dragon was hiding something, she must be, why else should she just act like this in such a dangerous place? Making herself look airy, dumb. I can't take chances, if she is truly acting herself, I have to find out. Remember don't get distracted, I can't lose this chance.
"Oh!" she made herself look more relaxed, moving her behaviour to the usual happy, positive side. "Oh my, it's all fine! I'll make sure if any of my group comes past your father, we'll let him know. But for reasons of my own-" she slowly circled the Nocturne,
"I'd feel better if I guard you, it isn't safe here. A innocent little lady like you could get ambushed and thieves quite enjoy that." she grinned sweetly, her tail swaying slowly on the ground.

Berylla giggled, covering her mouth with a wing as she did so.
"Aww, thank you! You're terribly sweet! That would be wonderful. My little Brava can keep a lookout for my father too!" She said cheerily. She dug around a pocket on the inside of her cloak, and pulled out a single gold coin.
"I know it isn't much, but I'm afraid I don't have much on me. I have to thank you for being so kind!" She said with a smile.
A single coin won't hurt. I'll just steal it back when I make my getaway. A paid escort out of here, that's what I need. I can drop her as soon as I get a chance. She though devilishly. She nodded to Echo, who took to the air once more, flying high above their heads.

As Vladimir gave food from his satchel to his needy familiar he glanced around the field once more. The first thing that caught his eye was some movement above him, A large guardian of green and blue took off to the skys above him. Vlad let out a small hum before lifting his hood higher. Looking up to gaze at the guardian let too much light into his eyes. Looking more across the field, Vlad noticed a bright colored snapper and a nocturne seeming to be in conversation. 'Wonder what they are talking about..?' Vlad though before covering his goblin with his cape once more and sneaking toward the conversing dragons, wanting to see if he could get any useful information from their conversation.

Mmmm... I can't seem to put my claw on it.. She seems so shifty but so innocent!
The snapper was having a mind-crisis, finding out if this little nocturne was truly this way was proving harder for her to find out. Every now and again her mind would shout snap out of it! You're a guard! You can fight if she's dangerous! But what if this nocturne really knows how to kill? Especially that bat, it is definitely intelligent.
Nereid shook her head uncomfortably but was quickly shocked at the sudden gold coin.
"Oh my! No, I can't accept this, keep it in case you need it on the way home" she exclaimed as she shuffled her front claws on the grass, it didn't feel right to accept anything right now. However, her eyes kept wandering to the Nocturne's unusual clothing, it was as if they were made of a great magic of some kind, it gave Nereid a threatening dread.

What is going on here? Geldelia thought as she watched the imperial creeping towards the nocturne and snapper. She could see the two were talking, but was much too high up to hear even a whisper of what they were saying. He must be listening in on their conversation, she thought not at all surprised, I'll have to go down there if I want to know what in the world is going on. Geldelia made a large turn, beginning a slow, spiraling decent towards the imperial. Watching the other two dragons and listening for anything out of the ordinary.

Berylla laughed, and pocketed the coin.
"Oh, well, if you insist then! I do wish you would take it though. Oh well. You have my thanks!" She said cheerily. She noticed the snapper glancing at her clothing, and giggled.
"Oh my, don't mind this attire I am fitted with. Father was taking me to the Tangled Woods to visit my mother you see. It is custom in my family to wear this when visiting her." She said with a bright smile. She looked up into the air at Echo, who was still flying in circles. But she was not the only one on the wing. A large guardian, silhouetted against the bright sky, was slowly descending. It was not the only dragon around.
"Say, do you know who they are? Because I haven't the foggiest idea. Who..." She trailed off, before bursting into laughter.
"Oh, I haven't introduced myself, my apologies! My name is Synthia. You can call me Syn. Who might you be?" She asked sweetly.

Vladimir had snuck as close as possible to the conversing dragons, apparently the nocturne was on their way to the Tangled Woods? It also appeared that he came just in time to catch the Nocturne's name. 'Synthia, Huh?' Something seemed off with the nocturne, something Vlad has seen time and again in his type of work. 'I dont think this one is quite what she seems..' Vlad thought to himself. 'How interesting...'
