The day was overcast. A thick layer of clouds hung in the air, preventing the light of the sun from shining through, which made the Shrieking Wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth darker than they already were.
A shiver passed through Spring. He was used to the constant daylight present in Mint City. This far away from home, he felt a bit worried. But he turned his distant gaze from the sky back down and focused on the matter at hand.
"Five thousand treasure is way too much for Four-Spot Mealworm silk," he murmured, peering close at the cloth on the stall.
He was at a convention in the Shrieking Wilds, a fabric and fashion convention, where dragons got together to hark and sell their wares to those interested. It was far and wide a popular gathering, though the location changed every time.
This time it was in the darker shadows of the Shrieking Wilds.
Fireflies were used to light the area, creating a very whimsical, fantastical atmosphere to the whole thing. And making it easier for scammers to get away with selling worse materials.
"Eyy, you think this is that Four-Spot mess?" the vendor said, in response to Spring's comment. "No sonny, this is first class Pipevine Caterpillar silk! Fantastic fabric, and worth every penny!" The Coatl excitedly harked on about the folded silk.
Spring shook his head. "Pipevine silk shimmers red, even in the dark. This is clearly Four-Spot Mealworm silk," he refuted adamantly.
The Coatl vendor shook his head. "Sonny, please. I've worked this convention for years, I am a reputable seller! I can't sell something like Four-Spot, it'd ruin me!"
Spring furrowed his brows. "Really? I've attended this for the last five years, and I haven't seen your face all that time."
