It was a cold afternoon as the sun was readying it's self to set over the buildings of the city. The city its self was lustrous and well known throughout lands, and was the very capital of the territory. It was a rich city and had buildings of the rich and famous near the center, along with government buildings. It was a beautiful city, and treated its residents wonderfully; that is, providing they were seen as human.
Magical creatures, that being creatures like centaurs, merefolk, imps, and things of that nature were all but banned in the city. Magic often required special permits to use and along with permits to just be in the city They were often had, if not impossible to get and those who had them often lived in too low of poverty to go noticed at all. It was rare to see them. Especially to be out in the open...
This is where our first character steps in. A younger centaur male with a rather thin framed upper body and a deer like lower body. He stepped along, a soft tapping coming from his hoofed feet as he went through the shadows of buildings. These were the abandoned streets of the city. Forgotten to all but criminals and homeless, but still patrolled by guards. He had to be careful.. He needed through the city, and he didn't have a permit.. He he was caught then he would be arrested and sent to jail or worse... It was a huge risk, but to go around the massive capital would have been just as dangerous, thief and black market dealers lurking even more commonly than in these rotted streets. He ran a hand through his long, shoulder length, brown hair and felt the start of small antlers. He looked around wearily, hoping to not see anyone around to stop him

The alley way was musty but the driest one to be found for a decent stretch of back streets. It was annoying how often dampness occurred in abandoned places, making them cold and even more disgusting than need be.
No these alleys were much better, which was why Lucio had claimed them his. He leaned back against a wall and studied his permit. Sure he got it though bribes, but it was real and would keep him pretty safe. Not many asked questions and few came to this part of the town. Or so he thought.
Closing his eyes, the fire spirit perked his ears, a frown crossing his face. It sounded like hoofbeats and far too close for comfort. Brushing away some dust from his pants, he pushed off the wall and ducked into the empty building to watch what happened. It help that his skin was the same grey as the stone, save at his shoulders, ears, and tail tip.

The soft tapping soon apeared to be from a centaur, unnoticing of the spirit. He was trotting, staying in the shadows of the buildings. It was quite obvious he wasn't suposed to be there, judging by the way he nervously darted around. He was constantly looking around, in fear of some guardsmen. It was also quite obvious he had been moving for some time, as he ducked into some forgotten building and sat down, tiredly

Lucio tilted his head as he noted the centaur trying to slink along the shadows. It was funny to watch really, the creature looking skittish and poorly hidden dispute trying. Looking at his own pass he laughed softly, moving back to the doorway of his own building as the centaur ducked into another. This could be interesting and unlike some, Lucio had no problem exploiting other magicals.
He quietly left his building and moved toward the one the centaur had entered, hiding his own pass in a pants pocket. Snapping his fingers, a small fire sprang up in his palm. He was the reason this area was so dry, constantly evaporating water to keep it that way. He pressed the fire to the building wall, letting it scorch the stone until it was easy to smell smoke.

(Allright. I am too, now.
The centaur sighed, leaning to the wall tiredly. It was nice to finally rest for the night. Sudently something seemed wrong.. There was smoke..? He stumbled to get up and made his way to the exit. "A-Oh no.." He yelped, keeping his hand of the sachel of basic means he had. Smoke meant fire, and fire attracted humans... He made his way out of the building, looking around for where the fire was at

Lucio watched as the centaur entered into the alley again, smiling and letting the fire continue to burn. "Oh, hello there. Did this bother you?" His voice heavy with false innocence.
"I like to make sure the stones don't get damp, helps keep mold out of my alleys. On the topic of my alley. Why would you be here?"

The centaur jumped a bit, looking at the fire spirit. He stepped away, more and frowned. "It... It doesn't matter why I'm here... I was resting.." He growled. He could tell the guy was most likely looking to bother him... "What ever... " He sighed, moving to walk somewhere else

"Oh! But it really does matter," Lucio darted in front of the centaur, narrowing his bright red eyes. "I'll get in trouble if I don't signal seeing something odd." He summoned back the flame, letting it shoot up a bit higher before it shrank back to curl around his fingers. "So unless you have a good reason...or offer... I'm calling the guard."

The threat of a guard seemed to be enough to rais a panic in the cenaur's eyes. "Look... I'm just passing through, trying to get through the city... I literally have nothing but some food and a couple coins on me.." He said, rubbing his head. "And definitely have no reason to call any guards..."

"Not good enough. I worked hard to make a place for myself here and I'm not loosing it because some idiot decided to walk around and then beg me not to signal. They'd know and take my papers away." Lucio watched the fire before suddenly smiling. "Or... you can make the risk worth it. Serve me. "
