Sylvan looked up as the ground beneath him shook slightly, signalling the approach of a large dragon. It was of no surprise to the small Fae when he saw a female Imperial approaching. The former guardian was immediately irritated as he craned his head all the way back to meet the female's gaze as she spoke.
Cursed tiny frame. He'd get a crick in his neck if he had to keep his neck at this angle, and he was certain that Clodi wasn't the only Imperial he'd have to speak to today. Sylvan looked over at Greyface expectantly. The Centaur was now at his side with his arms crossed in a loose, relaxed, manner.
It didn't take but a moment for Greyface to notice Sylvan staring at him. He sighed. It was obvious what the tiny dragon wanted and the centaur knew it would be easier to just get it over with.
"Oh fine," Greyface said. The centaur then knelt down, allowing Sylvan to climb up onto his back.
From his new perch Sylvan looked back up at Clodi. Truthfully it wasn't that much better, but at least he wasn't about to fall back from looking up. He quickly found Clodi's name and clan on the list and checked it off.
"Welcome, welcome, Miss Clodi. I've got you penned down right here. And today there should be eight competitors. But you know how these things go. Dragon's don't show up and the like," he said. Though his voice did have a touch of Fae monotone it was almost as expressive as any other dragon and his fins moved very little. A trait harbored by a mind accustomed to a different body.
As Clodi walked away a young Pearlcatcher male approached. The boy seemed more than a little nervous. If Sylvan had to guess it was probably his first time competing. Sensei? Hmm, what an interesting term. The Fae took it as a term of respect and made a mental note to talk to Caldwell about the meaning of the word later. The Coatl was well versed in many languages and would surely know the meaning.
"Hello, Mister Hikari. I take it this is your first tournament?" Sylvan asked casually as he checked off the Pearlcatcher's name, "I'm sure you'll do fine. "
He wasn't bothered by the Pearlcatcher's gaze after he'd walked off. If anything the boy's nerves made him a bit nostalgic.
