Two cemeteries lie on opposing sides of Tremont Street in close proximity to each other. Granary Burial Ground rests on the Beacon Hill side while King’s Chapel Burial Ground lies on the downtown side. From above ground, nothing seems out of the ordinary, however, beneath the surface lies an entirely different story. Background In 1630, at the founding of King’s Chapel Burial Ground, an influential vampire had an underground lair constructed deep below the tombs for his coven that had recently immigrated to the New England area. For 30 years, the King’s Chapel coven operated smoothly as the only group of vampires yet to enter Boston, with blood supply plentiful and older vampires who were proficient in the area of mind control. It wasn’t long, however, before this coven’s success began to spread within the vampire communities elsewhere and a younger coven came to town, wanting to share the feeding grounds. So it was that in 1660 the Granary Burial Ground was constructed and arrangements were made to install more underground living quarters for the new coven. These vampires were younger and lacked the powerful psychic abilities of some of the older members of their neighboring clan, so instead of coaxing humans out of a pint or two of blood and then wiping their minds, they opted to hunt in the shadows of the back alleys. The King’s Chapel coven didn’t really mind, as long as no bodies showed up and they didn’t make the vampires’ presence in the city known. Plot The two vampire covens had existed within the city for centuries without major conflict until 1859 when bodies did begin to surface, causing a panic in the area. Each body had puncture wounds on the neck and all blood had been completely drained. Not only this, but there were frequent reports of humans waking from a daze in a place they didn’t remember walking to, feeling weak and finding similar bite marks on their bodies. It didn’t take long for the humans to suspect that creatures of the night were roaming among them and they began taking precautions to prevent being the next victim. Tensions are rising between the two covens as they each accuse each other of having sloppy members that threaten the safety of the clans. With the food supply suspicious of vampire activity, feeding has become increasingly difficult. There has also been talk of vigilante vampire hunters in the area, raising the stakes of the blame game. Coven Details King’s Chapel Coven This coven generally feeds from the upper class population. Attending parties and operas, they use their charm to gain trust among the elite and use their mind control to avoid any messy situations. Should something happen, it’s not hard to persuade the law enforcement to look the other way, especially when some of them are vampires. Members of this coven own a number of hotels and entertainment venues around the area that they use as feeding grounds. Granary Coven This coven sticks to frequenting areas inhabited by the middle and lower classes, even though the members of the coven would be considered upper class in terms of wealth (it’s easy to accumulate savings when you’ve been around for centuries). Though killing to feed is not taboo, it’s generally seen as best to limit the body count. This is why the members of this coven oftentimes resort to kidnapping and keep a stock of humans from the poorer areas of town in an underground dungeon. Members of this coven run bars and brothels around the area that they sometimes use as feeding grounds. Vampire Abilities + Enhanced strength, speed, smell, hearing, and night vision + Mild mind control; those with a very strong will can resist it and none under its influence will do anything they absolutely would refuse to do of their own free will. Setting
The Victorian Era in Boston, Massachusetts, 1860.

Background
In 1630, at the founding of King’s Chapel Burial Ground, an influential vampire had an underground lair constructed deep below the tombs for his coven that had recently immigrated to the New England area. For 30 years, the King’s Chapel coven operated smoothly as the only group of vampires yet to enter Boston, with blood supply plentiful and older vampires who were proficient in the area of mind control.

Plot
The two vampire covens had existed within the city for centuries without major conflict until 1859 when bodies did begin to surface, causing a panic in the area.

Coven Details

King’s Chapel Coven
This coven generally feeds from the upper class population.

Granary Coven
This coven sticks to frequenting areas inhabited by the middle and lower classes, even though the members of the coven would be considered upper class in terms of wealth (it’s easy to accumulate savings when you’ve been around for centuries).

Vampire Abilities
+ Enhanced strength, speed, smell, hearing, and night vision
+ Mild mind control; those with a very strong will can resist it and none under its influence will do anything they absolutely would refuse to do of their own free will. It’s more of a persuasion and way to coax something out of someone.
+ RARELY: elemental powers

Vampire Weaknesses
- Headaches and rapid sunburn in prolonged sun exposure when well fed; near blindness and eventual combustion when starving
- Any religious symbol when wielded by someone with a strong belief in it; the belief is what repels them, not the actual symbol
- Cannot enter the home of a mortal unless invited, but the invitation cannot be revoked unless by magical means

Adam

Adam sighed in delight as he retracted his fangs from his victim's neck. Having fresh blood in his belly was euphoric, as it had probably been a week since his last meal. He let the body slide to the ground before wiping the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand. There were numerous red flecks on the exposed area of his white dress shirt even though he was generally not a messy eater. It just couldn't be helped when one was this hungry.

Adam and Alice were lucky to have found a man standing all by himself in the alley. They were even luckier to have taken the human down and knocked him out with ease.

He let his eyes drift up to his hunting partner's. "Your turn." He hadn't taken enough blood to keep Alice from getting her fill, but she'd have to be careful or risk killing the unconscious man.

Amy

"No...no no no!" Amy kicked the door in frustration. How could she be so careless as to lock herself out of her own house? It was so late now that no locksmith would be open for business.

She huffed as she searched her satchel once more in a desperate attempt to procure her keys, but it was in vain. She must have either locked them inside or dropped them on her way back from collecting herbs. Defeated, she slumped down on the stone steps before the door, holding back an angry sob. She knew full well how dangerous it was to be outside in Boston as of late, but what could she do now? Try to find help?

"Maybe there's a party going on," she mumbled to herself before rising to her feet. "If I can just find a public place with many people, I should be fine." She reached into her satchel and grabbed an amethyst crystal. Holding it tight in her hands, she gave it a swift kiss.

"Hecate, protect me."

Oliver Bird
The vampire awoke with wide eyes, staring at the roof of his dark coffin. He opened the sleek coffin, stretching as he sat up straight. Ah, the King's Chapel, such a wonderful little coven. Oliver stood up, stretching completely now. God, a coffin could really make a body stiff. He closed the coffin and looked around to see if anyone was up already. It had become late now, the perfect time to satisfy a vampire's thirst for blood.

Lena Duval

"Ah! I'm sorry, I got off track. I probably interrupted you, so I'll be on my way." Lena shuffled through her bag, checking to see if she lost anything crucial. She then grabbed her notebook, scribbling more things down. "Say Peter, maybe after you're done, you'd like to join me? I'm not going to lie of a frightening adventure I'm on, but it's exhilarating."

Alice Evans

Alice had been keeping a wary eye on the surrounding streets while Adam fed, unwilling to let a human spot them while she was off guard.

Thankfully, Adam didn't take to long to have his fill, much to the delight of Alice's stomach. Almost too eagerly, she stepped forward and took hold of the man, pulling back his collar with one hand and supporting his back with the other. Hungrily, she dug in, creating two more puncture wounds in the mans neck.

Despite her near-ravenous hunger, she minded his heart rate so as not to kill him. Even if she did do it in an accident, she didn't want Adam to think she was the one killing off humans.

Figuring envoy was enough, Alice removed her fangs and licked the wound clean of any remaining blood. Then, she carefully leaned him against the wall, nudging a bottle of alcohol closer to his hand.

Turnin to Adam, she asked, "Are you no longer hungry?"

Peter Stine

Peter glanced back at the cobbler's shop, giving his old shoes up for lost. By now, it was much to late to retrieve his hopefully fixed shoes, so he'd have to come back another day.

"I suppose I could join you. The streets do get rather dangerous at night, especially these days," he replied, grabbing the reigns of his horse so as to lead her while they walked. "Where exactly are you heading at this hour?"

Simna and Vittorio

Simna heaved a sigh as she stared down from the rooftop of a building. She stared at her tiny hand, a pout developing across her mouth. She was too cute.. too tiny and too cute. Simna hated her body. Granted, there were some perks. She could have whoever's blood she liked. After all, no one could resist the allure of a rather adorable six year old.

A tugging of their shirt, a tear and a sniffle, telling the unsuspecting person she'd lost her mommy. It always ended in a meal.

But there were drawbacks. She could never be seen as a woman.. not really. Here she was 500 years old, and all the attractive men only looked at her as a child. Hypnotism worked fine every now and again, but it would have been so much better if she could just woo them with her charms and a glance. If that stupid vampire had only known what he was doing!!! He had turned her without meaning to, being a newly created vampire himself. And she had followed him like a dog until she realized the unfairness of the situation and killed him herself.

Siman glided back down to her newest victims. A young couple. a man and a woman. She and Vittorio had already drained them until they were barely hanging on to a thread of consiousness. Now the only thing left to do was seal up their necks and hypnotize them into thinking they'd been mugged, before dumping them into the alley.

"Vittorio." She called.

Vittorio took a silent glance to her, flicking a lighter calmly to light a cigarette. He wandered over to the two bodies and enveloped them in shadows. Their necks stitched back up and their clothes tore slightly. He lifted both of them effortlessly over one shoulder before scooping up Simna and letting her perch on his un-occupied shoulder. He leaped from the top of the building without warning, using the shadowed fire escape to take them down to an ally. There he splayed the two out in the middle of the street, Scattering the woman's purse across the floor and taking her wallet. He lit it on fire with his lighter before tossing the burning wallet into the dumpster nearby.

It was almost natural to see the two of them together. As if Simna was Vittorio's younger sister or child. He casually wandered down the street, just in time to scent blood. Another feeding site. He glanced to Simna, smoke curling from the end of his cigarette.

Simna let out a feral hiss. "I wonder what unlucky vampire decided to hunt here. Let's go see, shall we?"

Vittorio shrugged and walked rather calmly into the alley where two vampires were bent over a drunken man.

With a glance to Vittorio, Simna simply put on a rather cute facade. "Whatcha doing?" she kicked her feet innocently.

Lena Duval

Lena stared at the shop momentarily. Maybe he needed to retrieve shoes or drop some off? She gasped silently, thinking she had ruined his plans.

She smiled and began to walk backwards in order to face him. "And that's exactly why I'm here! To discover the supposed mysteries in this town, why it's been so dangerous." The girl turned back around to look at her ground, then up at the sky with a gentle smile lightly placed on her small lips.

Raoul Delacroix

The wench hadn't even screamed. She must have really needed this, Raoul thought to himself as the pretty woman he'd lured into the tavern squirmed in his embrace. While the noise at the bar drowned out her whimpers, Raoul had to admire her for being exceptionally quiet, especially since his fangs were embedded in her neck. But of course, she wouldn't be this easy to drink from in her conscious state if the vampire had not soothed her telepathically beforehand. Confident in his abilities, Raoul moved them to the bed and encouraged the young woman to perch on his lap as he drank his fill of her blood. Not even ten seconds later, the pain of the bite registered and her instinct to defend herself broke through the calming thoughts he'd imposed on her mind; Raoul was almost too late to stifle her scream with his hand. He drank faster, gaining his strength as she lost hers during her futile struggle to escape.

Only when she became limp against his chest did he withdraw, smoothing his tongue over her neck to catch the beads of blood clinging to the bite. He felt rejuvenated again. While blood was never in short supply for the wealthy, it had been no easy task getting the humans to trust him these days. But just as he'd thought, this one really did want him tonight.

Raoul laid her down on the bed and arranged her hair to conceal the holes just below the back of her head- he was always careful to leave the wound in an inconspicuous place, somewhere it couldn't be seen while it scarred. Before he left the room, Raoul turned back to sneer down at his latest victim, so pristine and oblivious while unconscious. She wouldn't remember a thing after waking up. "You're all the same," he grumbled, disappointed she had not been braver. They always tried to scream.

The streets were quiet that night. Raoul emerged from the noisy tavern looking as if he hadn't belonged there, in his long maroon coat and gold-tipped cane. But no one paid him any mind as he strolled down the cobblestone on foot. A coach was waiting for him a few blocks away in his effort to be discreet about his visit to the tavern. His senses had become more acute after his meal, so it came as no surprise that Raoul could smell a human up ahead. She appeared to be a woman, and from her frantic movement up the street he could tell she was in some kind of distress. Something in her hand flashed in the moonlight. A crystal? Interesting. His curiosity piqued, Raoul moved toward her.

Adam

He hadn't expected Alice to dig in so greedily. She truly looked like a ravenous vampire feeding on her helpless victim, especially in this dim lighting. Something told him that if she was pushed far enough, this anxious little creature could be capable of horrible deeds. It intrigued him.

"Good idea," he said, watching as she planted the alcohol bottle. "We roughed him up enough that it will just look like a bar fight."

He flashed a fanged smile and chuckled as he relaxed against the brick wall. "I'm always hungry...and itching to cause more mischief."

He turned to look at the street that was now glowing silver with the light of the moon. "I'm going to continue on. You can follow if you'd like or you can head back home. Either way, I don't want to come back empty handed. We need stock."

Turning his back on Alice, he walked out into the street, trying to sniff out his next victim.

Amy

Several scenarios were playing through the young Wiccan's mind at this moment. Would she make it to someplace safe in time? What if she was approached by a stranger? Could she fight? What if she was worrying for no reason at all?

It was then that she felt something...odd. It was like electricity was flowing through her from behind, causing her hair to stand on end. Amy recognized this feeling as when someone was watching her. Perhaps the gods had heard her request and were acting to protect her.

She turned suddenly, holding the amethyst close to her breast and planting her feet firm. Amy could make out a figure approaching and at the same time almost felt the gem pulsing with power in her fingers. This was surely a sign of danger.

"H-Hello?" she said, unsure of the word even as it left her lips. "Please, don't come any closer." Her words were more firm this time.

Alice hesitated to follow Adam, reluctant to give in to her insatiable hunger. Usually she limited herself to only as little blood as possible, but the idea of following Adam and having her gnawing hunger eased was almost too appealing to give up.

Her decision was delayed when, from behind her, she heard the approach of someone. A vampire. She could smell it on them, and immediately she felt her chest tighten with stress. While her own coven could be trusted, she was reluctant to get chatty with strangers, especially since everyone was likely feeling the stress of hunger.

"Pardon me?" Alice asked, the words breathing out of her barely parted lips. At least she didn't have to worry about being heard, what with all vampires' honed senses. "I was- Well, we were just hunting." She couldn't help but wonder how far Adam had gotten and if he'd come back to help her. No doubt he could handle the situation much more smoothly than Alice.

@Amentia ((Sorry about forgetting to ping you before. Lol))

"Don't you think that's rather an ambitious task all by yourself?" Peter questioned, beginning to feel concern for the girl. If she was as reckless other days as she was today, than Peter couldn't help but wonder how she managed to stay alive. She certainly didn't look like she could fend off an attack, but Peter supposed if anyone would know that looks could be deceiving it'd be him.

Mostly, Peter didn't want to see another death in the newspaper. It was easy to separate himself from the violent attacks when it was just strangers, but he had admittedly let himself get drawn into the girls story and would hate to see her as he headline for the next day's paper.

There was no doubt in his mind that he'd accompany her, but he just hoped he could prove useful should they actually run into danger. It's not like Peter was familiar with fighting off villainous fiends, but two was better than one.

Eva wandered the dark streets, as she was wont to do now that she was alone and everything had changed. Ever since... the incident, she had found no rest at night--she thought, with a wry half-smile, that if her parents could see her now they'd likely die again of pure shock. Nothing good, after all, came of the sort of activity that occurred in the city at night. She looked around herself, noting the wastrels on the street-corners and the sirens in the shadows, and self-conciously touched her perfectly coifed curls. That was a habit she wasn't sure she'd ever lose; wasn't sure she wanted to. Presentation was still important, after all, even if she was no longer in the market for a well-to-do husband.

But that did not mean she didn't feel out of place, still.

Like a pretender. Or maybe a predator.

She sighed, and forced her hand down to clench in her skirt. She reminded herself, again, that they couldn't hurt her now. She was likely to kill them, even by accident, if they tried. The thought left a bitter aftertaste. She prayed that no-one would even consider it, that they'd recognize the danger she brought, that they'd know better. She knew, of course, that they wouldn't. They never seemed to. But she was getting hungry again, and she still wasn't entirely sure what to do about that. She didn't want to attack someone else, but animals were simply not... satisfying. Like surviving on bread and water, she imagined.

She sighed again.

Then she stilled, her skirts swirling forward at the suddenness, her back going perfectly straight, and stiff. She could see, far down the road, two figures. They were too far apart to know each other, but too close to prove a total lack of interaction. It just... reeked of trouble. The closer figure was a woman, she was sure, and something in her stance told Eva that she was afraid. She could not see the other well enough at all. She hurriedly moved a little closer, close enough to hear, then stepped into a side-alley, peaking around to see what would happen.

Yes. The woman was afraid. Eva's lips pressed into a short line, and she felt a dull burning, all too familiar, start up in her chest. Where her heart should have been beating there was only a rising, bitter sharpness. And this time there were no rules or regulations or disapproving family members to tell her what to do. The freedom was terrifying, she would admit, but for now she would just wait.
