That doesn't seem likely, he thought ruefully. I'd better get some food and head back up there before someone tries to stab him. Again.

After a few minutes of fruitlessly searching for any insect based food the Pearlcatcher resigned himself to a meal of plants. Unfortunately, the only plants that weren't entirely junk or processed seemed to be sparking slightly. Maybe it'll keep me awake. He thought as he paid for the almonds and headed back to the Faire building.

He had almost finished his snack when his clanmate burst into the small closet he had claimed as the "snack zone".

"Put that down!" The Skydancer exclaimed imperiously.

"Glademother's beard, please tell me you didn't poison them." The Pearlcatcher dropped the last almond and started thinking about where he put the antidotes his clan leader made him bring.

If anything I write is actually just nonsense, please let me know. ^^; Thank you for answering my questions, @Stormdragon. To clarify, inventors would be working on their creations, even ones from scratch, on one of the tables set up? Also, I realise our dragons are probably going to have to explain their invention’s function when it’s presented. Would there be anyone (if Quetz’s judging I wouldn’t immediately ask him) who could and would be willing to translate for the non-Coatl in the audience? The error of the first day had been too high to account for this. It shouldn’t matter. She didn't believe that the invention the Wildclaw knew was gone for good, and what did it matter anyway if the Coatl still managed to devise an impressive machine? Myzrin shook her head. Were those dragons adrenaline junkies or suicidal? It would take quite notable skill with both flight and meteorological judgments as well as an interesting approach to the risk calculation that balanced potential gain against potential loss and the chances governing both. The skies above Tempest Spire were among the most dangerous in Sornieth, rivalled only by those of the Twisting Crescendo and Cloudscrape Crags. Encouragement again? What a strange week this was. Wait. The old one had just passed comment on her competition. It was not promising. Well, Myzrin was certainly not going to power her creation on wasted time, so she hurried off in search of a power source. None in the storage unit had been in serviceable condition for use, so her gamble meant hoping that the locals and early arrivals had yet to completely scour the area of useful resources in their own preparations. The Coatl ate the static stingers she found. She wasn’t going to waste effort on acquiring a tank to hold the few she’d found. More effective fuel for a Lightning dragon than her creation. When she next took a break, Myzrin considered the two candidates for component use: charged tungsten in one paw, high-voltage almonds in the other. The Tungsten was known to be a valued resource…in material construction. So Myzrin held onto it for use in some other project. What none could deny was that for current to flow, you needed a voltage. No matter the current, if you had zero voltage, the resultant power would still be nil. A high voltage could help compensate for a low current. The Fae perched on Molerince made no move to speak, entranced by the beauty of the storm above. Just as well really, the Coatl hadn’t learnt the semaphore of Fae and didn’t work with them enough to make such worthwhile.

Molerince spoke of how impressive the hall was and how excited she was.
‘Oh, I am looking forward to the presentation…’
Damn.
‘I’m sure it will be a marvel to us all!’ The Wildclaw turned to look back at Belttissa, struggling a smile. Molerince didn’t know whether the hall would be dark enough during the show for the dayblind Fae to be able to fully enjoy the event.

@Stanzascale
Inventors can work on their project wherever they wish! Remember the map; there are a lot of spare rooms around both the first and second floors. Otherwise if their inventing process is no secret I'm sure some dragons would enjoy watching something be invented right at one of the tables!

There will be one dragon with the judges who will translate for them in that case! Of course Quetz wouldn't need the translations, but the other judges might. There are at least ten other staff on hand decently to proficient fluent in both languages who will mill around on presentation day looking out for coatl inventors that only speak coatl.
