A hazy red mist enveloped the air. The ground was barren and lifeless; anything that used to be alive was now festering in the sun. One could taste death if he so much as opened his mouth, which few would dare in this place. Hundreds of bones, beast and dragon alike, littered the rotting earth while their decaying remains consumed the land. It was just another normal day in The Scarred Wasteland.
A young Pearlcatcher, just out of his hatchling days, was carefully picking his way through the rot. He was shivering visibly, though he couldn't tell if it was from fear or infection. He was terrified of everything in this land; he jumped at every noise and movement, even though they were just coming from decaying corpses collapsing on themselves. This was no place for a young dragon. Especially a young Arcane dragon.
I gotta get out of here. Before they find me. I can't go to that demon god. If she doesn't kill me the diseases will.
Ace's mind was racing in a panic and his eyes were blown wide with fear. He was a rebel exaltee and he was running for his life. He would fly, but he knew he would be too easily spotted from the air. The Plaguebringer's children were on his tail, and getting caught meant certain death for him.
There's the edge! The end of the Plaguelands! I can see the Starfall Isles from here!
Ace rushed forward in his excitement to get home, the ground turning softer and stickier with each step without him realizing. Suddenly one of his arms sank into the mush. He tried to yank it free, but to no avail. His excitement vanished and despair filled its place. He was stuck in the semi-solid/liquid mucus of The Wandering Contagion.
