My favorite Horror movie: Silent Hill (yes like the video games, but the story is different) from 2006
It talks about an orphan girl in her new Family, that have nightmares about silent hill (city) and one day her new mother goes there with her to resolve the nightmares and they have a light incident with the car and the girl disappear, the mother searches her in the ghostly city discovering the awful story behind it, encountering monsters and a dark past. In between the father searches. Them
Edit: the city a ghost town.

daniellefaye I remembered another scary thing I love!
This one is a game:
Darkwood. It's $15 on Steam, but it's also available on Switch, PS4, Xbox1, and maybe some other game clients if you look.
It's a top-down survival horror game, set in a dark evil forest which is randomly generated, and it is HARD. You kinda just have to try everything so that you know how to survive in your next game! You explore by day and hunker down at night and basically pray to survive because there's a lot of spooky stuff goin down! Great art and sound design too!

daniellefaye I'm back for round 2~
There's a TV show called Penny Dreadful that I absolutely ADORE. It takes a bunch of different classic horror stories (Jekyll and Hyde, Dracula, Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, the Wolfman) and blends them all together. The casting is phenomenal, it's exceptionally spooky, and the story....guh. I have cried over that show. The acting is so beautiful, perfectly done. Frankenstein's Monster in particular is
excellently acted.
...now I want to rewatch it, dagnabbit >.>

Today I'll suggest another horror rpgmaker game, this one by the name of .flow, made by lol (also known by lolrust). It's actually a spin-off game, one of over 100, to Yume Nikki (dream diary) which was recently added to Steam but can still be found in the wild.
So, as all these games start, you play as a lone girl (named Sabitsuki--Sabi meaning Rust and tsuki is added just to ensure that it is a name lol) who never leaves her room. For one reason or another--phobia, or sickness--your only solace is a tv, your bed, and in this case a computer. Accessing the computer lets you go to another world, usually considered the dream world. (You usually access this in other games by going to sleep) In this non-narrative world, you explore both fantastical areas as well as very modern ones, where you can slowly piece together
quite the story. Your goal is to collect "effects" which can change your appearance or give you special abilities. (Headphones will let you listen to some brief music, cat will give you cat ears, pipe will give you a weapon to defeat npcs though it is not technically required)
The enemies in the game are called "chasers" though their names in this one is Kaibutsu (monster) and the only real harm they cause is if they touch you, you're warped to an area in which you cannot escape. The only way out is the wake up. And they cannot be defeated.
It's predecessor Yume Nikki, while unsettling, is more scenic and more of an experience than it is horror-inclined. So I suggest this one instead, as you won't lose anything should you not play YN! (I didn't intend for this to sound like a suggestion for both I just felt like it was necessary to mention it since YN has generated over 100 fanmade sequels and some of them--like dotflow could easily be standalone games in their own right just like the original BUT if you don't wanna count this that's fine cause it's an awesome game and should at least be checked out <3)
Here's the download

daniellefaye Round 3 for me because I thought of a good spooky artist to recommend!
https://thehairsonthebackofyourneck.tumblr.com/
This person also has a website which is linked on their tumblr blog here, but the tumblr is where they mainly post my fav art series:
Behind You.
It's a long and ongoing series, starting off with still images, and transitioning to gifs/animations which seem mundane, then reveal something creepy (usually a monster or ghost) behind the focus character. It's eerie to look at, and SO cool. The art style is fantastic, the movements and designs are so perfect to anyone who likes monsters, and honestly I could go through this blog all day!

I REALLY love atmospheric horror, and while its not as scary as some other games out there, Ib’s my favorite in that regard. It’s a pretty short game with 7 endings, so even if it ends up not being scary enough for you it won’t take up too much time. Plus, you can get it for free!

You're going to be amazing.
You can do this. It's just within your reach. Just breathe.
The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go.

I woke up this morning and before I could even ask myself what I wanted to post here I knew. I knew it had to be Fran Bow. It's a slight side scroller, very interactive and entirely creepy and horrifying. You play as Fran Bow, who has been struggling with her mental illness. She's taken in to an Asylum (this takes place in the 40's) after being found wandering alone in the woods, where she had been following her only family member left and friend--Mr. Midnight the cat. She gets separated from her kitty when taken, and after an assessment she's administered *****. (Gonna put a warning now: this game touches a lot of sensitive subjects. if it's not something you think you can handle, that's okay and you should stay away from media that makes you uncomfortable.)
Taking these ***** are one of the main aspects of gameplay. Taking them changes the entire environment--and not for the better like the doctors say. Everything is scary and gruesome, and all you want to do is escape and find your cat and go home.
You can learn more, see the trailer, play the demo or buy it from
the official website and it's also on steam.

Another RPGMaker horror game I like (can you tell I like RPGMaker horror games yet) is one that's both a horror game and an adventure game, called
Alice Mare. Once again, the horror is more atmospheric, but I really love the game and since it's also leaning into an adventure game theme, the best ending is also really heartwarming if you can get it. There's 7 endings in all. It's not as horroresque as some, but I really liked it.

Paranorman, 2012
Less scary and more creative.
So imagine being given the task of telling kids a story about witch trials in the new world and not scaring them for life? Well Paranorman does that. It makes it understandable but removes the viewers from the immediate horror of the trials. Animation and storyline also get a kudos because they are somewhat different from everything else out there.
