[Edited to correct the day number to match the event day] Day 3, Ski Jumping "This competition is all about how far you jump from here to there so try not to adjust anything and just focus on jumping." Eiyora said while helping Ice wear a wider and longer type of ski that is just for ski jumping. Knowing how vain Ice is, Eiyora even purchased a ski that has special snowflake designs. Ice is only going to wear this once but it does make a nice limited edition merchandise. Ice ignores Eiyora while he fusses over his apparels, turning his scarf this way or that, then undoing it and adjusting it over and over again tirelessly. Speechless, Eiyora just rolled her eyes and pushed Ice out to the top of the ramp while he fuss. It was not long before Ice got it right where he wants and was ready for the jump. He pushed off, and crouched low on the in-run. Everything was pretty normal until his take-off. He did a simple twirl upon take-off then started posing in mid-flight, switching poses so fast that it looks like he is dancing but in stop motion. At this point, Eiyora has started banging her head against the wall while thinking to herself, "Don't even know how he maintains flight like that...why did I even think this was going to be fun?"

Some dragons seemed to have troubles even keeping themselves from aimlessly skittering around on the ice, but Taky had trained a lot once she had learned about this event. This was just her personality, if she wanted to do something, she would do it correctly, not a half-hearted try. She was so ready to win, she was ready to- "TAKYYYYYY!" With an annoyed hiss, she glanced at the spectators. It wasn't hard to see this weird guy (no, she wouldn't think of him as her mate!) among them, as he was jumping up and down to cheer for her. "You can do it, Taky!" "I know I can, I don't need you to tell me..." She mumbled to herself, but without her noticing, a tiny smile appeared on her face. Of course she knew she could do it- but maybe it wasn't too bad to have someone getting all excited for her.

It had been a long, long while since he had last competed like this - but the Clan into which he had hatched had prized speed over the ice above most things, and as a hatchling and in his youth, Skald had won competitions against his Clanmates and against their local rivals. Yet he had never competed at a level such as this - and much time had passed since then. He was a scribe, not a skater! It had been madness even to add his name to the list ... Yet his mate, Daell, and their son, Nera, had encouraged him to take part in the event when they had noticed him taking an interest in the sign-up sheets. Nera had all but insisted - eagre to see his parent in a new light. They were out there now, waiting for him to come onto the ice, wanting to cheer him on. Daell, of course, would not be able to see the event - but Nera had assured them both that he would narrate everything that happened out on the rink, lightning-fast as only a Spiral could manage, so that Daell would miss nothing. And Daell had promised to weave Skald's efforts today into a story, whether he won or lost. His family would be proud of him even for trying, he knew that. He smiled and decided that even if he was the slowest skater of the bunch, he would at least not fall - and that would be better than some! He might even surprise himself and do better than he imagined. Beside, he couldn't bear to disappoint Nera and Daell them by turning back now. He steeled himself against his nerves and went out to join the other competitors beside the rink.

Okay, so he was a novice. So what?! He had a good grip on this. He could win this. He could win anything he tried! Did someone over there doubt him? Was it you? YOU WANNA GO, BRUH?! Finishing his snarling at a nearby dragon giving him a weird look, Thiv continued his trek. The next hill was visible, now. He'd get to the skiing part soon. He loved that bit, even if he didn't like the slog. He could "accidentally" bump into the other dragons with his elbows on the way down. Finding his strength renewed at the idea of his rivals faceplanting in the snow, Thiv hurried on.

The Event had been as fun--and three times as hard--as she had expected. He'd been trying to train several of Clan Twinstar's members for this event, though in truth, they still weren't entirely sure how this game was meant to be played. Something about shoving stones across an icy surface? Nevertheless, Maerius had managed to convince Aquarius, Anubis, and Verderon to join his team, all of whom were eager to get started. The four dragons quickly strapped themselves into their new outfits and made their way out onto the ice. Maerius hoped that he could get them all to work together, or else they wouldn't stand a chance against the other teams. It was time to go to work.

"It's to help control the path of the stone," explained Swiftrise, who, having served as a courier for the clan in his adolescent days, was nearly as well-traveled as Sigarni and Virtue. Carefully, he set the stone down on the surface of the ice before them, and then peeked up at his companions' faces as they got a look (and in the Tundras' case, a sniff) at it. Sigarni had already seen it, for she had worked to form and attach the handle. The stone was carved out of a single block of pink granite, small swirls of pale grey and white appearing like captured nebulae beneath its polished surface. He had carefully cut and polished it, paying close attention to the weight and balance of it as he had worked. It was the first project that his mentor Couer Du Val had allowed him to work on by himself. "You've been doing very well!" Virtue announced. Her son Lambkin made a pleased bleating sound. Yet it was Sigarni's face that Swiftrise paid the most attention to, as she peered down to examine the finished piece. In reality, she was being highly critical of her own half of the work, the sturdy ash handle fitted to curve over it; but as she leaned back at last, there was an approving smile on her face, and she dipped her head in agreement with Virtue's assessment of his skill. As the team began, Lambkin trotted off to settle down behind the bullseye-style targets painted on the ice. Swiftrise put on some special gloves set with pumice-stone; similar to the footpads which Virtue naturally had as a Tundra, they would help him work the ice in front of the stone once it was cast. "Be careful to keep your claws above the surface of the board!" a local Tundra judge reminded. "Gouging the ice will disqualify you." "Ready?" Virtue asked of Sigarni, and the Skydancer nodded her assent. She took hold of the handle, looked down the board to her clan-mate at the other end, and moved forward to shove the stone in a swiftly-gliding throw. "Skip! Where are we going?" Swiftrise called to Lambkin. The Tundra stared blankly at the stone, then said, "BLLLAAAAAAT!' Then, he resumed playing with his adorable gustborne balloon. Virtue and Swiftrise looked to each other, sighed, and scuffed hurriedly at the ice in front of the stone, following one of the clan's many informal mottoes: when in doubt, wing it.
