What's he going to find??? He loves Nature, and Nirya, and has a good home... but something is telling him he must do this. And he's slightly concerned that home will call to him and he'll have to make a terrible choice between the Sister deities. Anyway, all that aside, he's excited to finally arrive on the north east edge of the Scarred Wasteland and take his first peek over the outer crater to get his first glimpse of his homeland in many months... what's he going to see?!?!

Corwin paused, turned. The great Iblis, with her crown of antlers and luxuriant coat, seemed as alien in the Wasteland as she was.

"I greet you," the spirit intoned, dipping her head. She drew closer to study the traveler more carefully, and took a great whiff of air. This dragon had been born of the Wasteland, it was true. But underneath--

Ice-touch. Winter chill. "Gaoler," Corwin finally identified her. "You are one of the Ancient breed. The kingdom I hail from is far from here, and far from the touch of your gods. And long lost -- the machinations of an enemy spirit destroyed it. I wander this plane now. I seek that spirit. The people whose lives she destroyed are long gone," and Corwin tossed her head defiantly, "but still I will exact their revenge.

"Your eyes bear the mark of the Wasteland as well....Dare I ask what brings you to these parts? For I sense that, despite your eyes, you have not trodden this land for some time."

They didn't seem like trees, or if they were, they were of a variety she didn't recognize. Fungus, perhaps? In the glaring sunlight, it was difficult to tell; perhaps they might even be structures, left behind by an ancient clan. She decided to investigate and made her way towards them.

The excitement of the first day of travel has worn off now, and he proceeds with more caution, eyes wide as he travels through terrain that is so completely different to the lush forests he has become used to.

Up close, Iblis examined the dark, shifting spirit. There was the same edge in her voice, as those who had seen war, hardened by loss. She was polite in manner, yet her presence exuded an aura of grim resolve. Iblis closed her eyes and breathed in. Little Shade scent. A strange being perhaps, but not a danger. Iblis opened her eyes, and nodded.

“Indeed, it’s been many a time since I have returned. My duty here is rather simple. My companions,” Iblis says, gesturing back towards the plateau, “have heard of tensions brewing in the wastes. I’m here to check things over, since nobody else has the stomach for it.”

“If I may ask, what does this evil spirit look like? If it hides amongst the sheep, and wreaks destruction from the inside, it would be prudent to stay on guard.”

‘Perhaps it might be connected to the Shade’s influence? Does its foul power extend beyond our world?’ Iblis ponders to herself.
